I would say the lemon, that was so cool how it actually worked. But the leveling cake at the end was so funny. But it seemed to good to be true

"I have to say it's really hard to burn cookies" sooo your telling me I'm actually good at something😍
Sammmmmeeeee 😂😂😂
How do you burn a cookie if you make the recipe . If you do have this problem use a dood brush and butter before they go in the oven
Underrated comment lmao

Ah yes, the relatable problem of having a freshly made cake and apparently not owning a single kitchen implement, but luckily I keep my medicine cabinet stocked with toothpicks and dental floss. Happy Birthday, Mabel, here's a violently uneven "leveled" cake.
The phrase "violently uneven" is now part of my vocabulary. I have never laughed harder from a CZcams comment before
Drying citrus slices is really common around Christmas, etc. low heat for hours and hours to get a perfectly dried slice
Kai Lin Lee lots of people just buy air flyers for this
I did this last Yule and it was so lovely. My apartment smelled like heaven for days.
Don't you use fresh or dried shreded peel from organic lemons and oranges and limes for baking over there o.O That and candied lemons are completely normal here in Germany 🤔
@@lulana9545 here in Hungary is normal too. When I was a child my grandma did often candied lemon and that was fantastic 😍
Candied and dried lemons and oranges are really common addition to all kinds of cakes in Europe (aswell to christmas drinks). They have specific taste tho
The "marbling chocolate icing" looks really unappealing to me. Stick to the classic method of marbling a cake.
Ya I agree with you! It looked Gross and I don't like it one bit. THERE'S NOT EVEN VERY MUCH CHOCOLATE
@@bilzoobutfurry821 Not nearly enough chocolate. There's not such a thing as "too much chocolate". Also I too am in Hufflepuff
@@alessandradigraziano4483 YOU GET IT YOU NEED MORE CHOCOLAAAAAAAATE
and also CYA AT HOGWARTS
yes absolutely
I mean, a classic marble cake without icing looks beautiful. Also, hello fellow Hufflepuff!
The so-called marbled hack clearly left out two very important components: first, either it needed more chocolate or the chocolate had to finish melting; and second, to get that marbled, feathered effect, the cake needed to be tilted in several directions. That's how they get the effect with paint pours - the various colors are poured out in streams on a board, and then the board is tilted, forming the swirls and marbling. Just pouring the icing in a circular motion over the top of the cake will never give you that look, no matter how much chocolate is added to the white icing. But since the whole point of these hacks is to claim they take very little time, they can't add that second component. It would also risk your cake sliding right off the plate, lol. Maybe a blow-dryer on the no-heat setting to move the icing around?
Wow big brain
I’d say...more chocolate, too!!!
I'd say we can add already melted chocolate instead of chocolate chunks
@@amatullahzakirhussain9357 I don't know how well that would work, but definitely smaller pieces of chocolate (like chocolate chips, maybe) so they melt easier AND a lot more of them overall.
More chocolate 🍫 🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫
Whenever I overcook my grilled cheese sandwiches and burn them a little, I can actually scrape off a bit of it with a knife and it tastes fine, but it can't be burned to the point where it's super black or anything. It's only good if it's only a little burnt (which I do a lot because I forget that I'm cooking 😂)
Lol me
Cookies don't work like that though you burn a cookie it's going to taste burnt the black may be gone but that burnt bottom has made its way throughout the cookie you're going to always taste it
That's when they're best.
@NATHALIA COX okie?
oh my Lord lmfao..Sometime ago I was hesting up a hotpocket in the microwave, and forgot it was in there and I put it on for too long, ended up with a garden rock and a smoke filled house LMAO

The last one actually does work. My Mom showed me that trick when I was a teen. But not with dental floss, just regular thread. And no toothpicks.
I took a cake decorating class and that was how we were taught, with dental floss and tooth picks. She taught us that way and then she taught us the normal way. It does work if it's done correctly, a knife or cake leveler is easier though lol.
I've done it, but I used a cheese wire
My mom showed me it too with floss but there wasn't toothpicks.
We just estimated the middle.
this is how I do it. But I just cut a little bit around it to make sure it's in the middle. The toothpicks seem kind of unnecessary
I do it with thin fishing line

7:26 Growing up poor, we scraped the burned bits off toast. Grown up, and poor, still do! Usually only happens with hand sliced bread, or a toaster you're not yet familiar with. Tastes fine. EDIT: We use a butter knife to do the scraping. No need to buy a zesting blade!
Hard relate. You can rub two burnt halves on each other too and that works really well to get burnt parts off both. Just do it over the sink, it is a lot of mess.
@@urmirupapal2355 Absolutely over the sink!
I didn’t grow up poor but my mom did not let us waste so she always scraped the burnt side off the toast with a knife. Still do it to this day even if there’s a whole loaf. Definitely lived a frugal life
Me too 👍🏼 no such thing as burned toast in my house!
i remember eating burnt toast as child often. it never bothered me or my mom
It’s funny because you had to try several times to burn cookies. Lol.
That's surprises me. I mean she could been like "gas mark 8 for 30 minutes " and then wouldn't it burn?
Being a professional baker she probably has a high end oven and quality cookie sheets. It would be hard to burn just the bottom like the hack. It would turn into a nice even brown brick before it burned.
I like how she tried making the cake look appealing with the background music 😂😂😂😂
I love how she always starts with what was on the thumbnail
I actually really appreciate that too!!
5:58 - THE COOKIE HACK WORKS!! For those of us who aren’t bakers, we bake our cookies directly on the cookie sheet as that’s what we see on commercials - you’ll see the hack video doesn’t have paper either 😂 The direct heat from the cookie sheet cooks the bottom faster and burns it, while the rest of the cookie is basically fine, maybe a little crispy. Based off of how you set up your cookies, I now know to use parchment paper 👌
I use parchment for nearly all baking except pies and a select number of breads. Lyn from FTCC
I'm a baker and I've never used parchment paper to line my cookie sheets rarely have a burnt cookie to the point that it needs the burnt part scrapped off. And if I do then I know my oven is to hot.
@@TherealDanielleNelson I’m not a baker but I’ve baked a lot at home and I’ve never used parchment paper either except for macarons. Everything turns out great. To me the burnt on the bottom is either from a dark cookie sheet or they have it so close to the cooking element that it’s cooking the bottom first.
I always use baking paper because the baking tray in my house are NASTY.
I'd try melting the chocolate and icing separately, because chocolate needs a higher melting temp, then just pour one into the other before pouring over the cake.
I was thinking the same. Also the icing needs to heated in intervals stirring in between. Then I thought, were those icing tubs made to be microwaved? The wrong plastic can release some nasty chemicals in the microwave!
Tim Frey I was thinking to cut the chocolate into much smaller pieces so you can heat both gently and let them melt evenly, but I think the purpose of her doing it that way was to copy the video exactly...
Yeah, but then it's not a hack, lol. The hack is to be able to cut corners and time and do both at the same time and get "great" results.
Also as soon as i saw those 2 tiny pieces of chocolate i was like there's no way they melt to create All Those chocolate patterns. I'm sure they added more chocolate to be melted without showing it.
Wouldn't dumping vanilla and chocolate frosting into a container and melting make a similar effect with them melting more evenly ...
Candied lemons are yummy when done properly... But those looked just nasty.
Yeah, lemon peel is delicious (and orange peel too) when candied correctly! Those candies broiled on top....ew!
Yessssss I love candied lemons! So sweet and tart. This method was really dumb and you're better off just using sugar! Lol
I agree! Haha. I loved making them in Culinary school ☺️
The sound of burnt cookie on cheese grater will haunt my nightmares lmao thank you

Okay that Jolly Rancher trick is AWESOME!! The burnt cookie 🍪 trick totally works, I’ve used it A LOT! Lol! And also, the icing chocolate 🍫 marble hack was pretty cool and yours looked real pretty! What an entertaining & helpful video-thank you, Laurie!!!
The coffee thing is true. I don’t like coffee but when you add some instant coffee to chocolate cake you can’t taste it when it’s cooked
Does it make it taste yummier?
I’ve always used coffee in my chocolate cakes! And they’re always a hit😉
Also try coffee in chocolate chip cookies...GAME CHANGER
I add coffee to my cake mix and it does make it moist
Instant coffee as in you just put a little of the “powder” in or do you make the coffee in water and then add that?😳
Jasmin AAN I personally brew the coffee & replace water with it. Instant coffee powder or ground coffee is great in cookies!!
Coffee is definitely my secret weapon when making a chocolate cake. Makes it richer. Flavour dept.
The sound of that burnt cookie being grated slowly is the sound of sadness
I’ve done the marble one successfully. I put a Lindor truffle on the top of the icing in the jar so it melted better than being pushed down. I waited until it had just started bubbling and VERY lightly swirled with a skewer. I poured it in a swirl then used a blow dryer to swirl it more
That “marbled frosting” looks like mucus 😆 🤢
ew yes
Yes it really does!

Grating the burn cookies, made me think that you can grait any cookies of your choice (not burned) and put it on top of cheese cake, or any cake with frosting.
Aly I eat it in ice cream 😍
Kiara Dewrance omg that would be so good!!
Isn't it easier to just use crumbs?
@@shizotypical I suppose if you want a graham cracker crust, don't have a food processor, and can't get to the store for the pre-made crumbs, using a fine grater might work in a pinch. For cookies, though, they can be broken up by hand.
I would take my fingertips off trying to use a grater. If a food processor isn't available, put the cookies in a bag and go at it with a mallet, or rolling pin, or anything you can whack without damaging your counter. Efficient AND therapeutic!
When you rolled the lemon, did you squish it down? Seems like I’ve tried something similar before and it worked. At least worked better than what you showed. Hmmm
Yea, you’re supposed to squish it but it just looked like she was rolling it.
No on the cake thing...the frosting looks gross.
I think it sorta has potential but the yellowish color of the frosting is really gross
@Antics Ye I think it's quite cool!
the frosting does look gross
It looks like a block of cheese being fermented with fungus all over it 😂
YES MAM
coffee and chocolate both bring our the flavor of each other, they are perfect compliments. My mom actually started making the chocolate frosting for our birthday cakes with strong coffee in place of milk do thinning, and it makes it so smooth and chocolatey, I never make chocolate icing with milk anymore, I always use the strong coffee.
STRONG coffee is the key.
I just realized I have been “SMILING” the whole time I’ve watched you. Lmbo

How to cook that makes alot of content like this, you should check her out if you like this video😍
Ya she probably got this idea from Ms. Reardon over at how to cook that, but hey the more debunkers the merrier. Maybe the content farms will get shut down if people STOP CLICKING ON THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE. that really is thebsimple solution.
A small issue I have with this ladies, is that she is basically proving their hacks correct... I do not know, she is acting impressed from all these hacks. Not much of a debunk. And really not showing how dangerous content farms really are.
stop advertising other channels

I’m living for the fact that you have the same personality as my English teacher, she’s energetic and sweet and she even has the same accent
No, didn't like how the cake frosting came out.
Ya that hack was ridiculously unrealistic. It could be done as others said by melting both seperate and then swirling together. The point with the content farms is some of things might work, but generally not how they show it on their videos. They often skip or omit steps needed. However the majority of the content farm hacks relaly do not work and they know it. They will throw in a thing or two that does work as described, or might work with modifactions to how they showed.
The sound of grating away at cookies shouldn't be as funny and somehow satisfying as it is... Thanks for the laugh 😂🖤
Yessss!! You should totally do more of these! Id love to see them!!!
For candied lemon I recommend boiling thinly sliced lemone in simple syrup to get rid of bitterness, drain the and arrange on baking sheet with parchment paper, bake on 400 F for about 8 minutes until dried out.. let it cool in a dry place then use them for decorations 😋
My favorite part of this entire video is your laugh. It's just so fun, and happy
