You DON'T Remember Super Princess Peach

- Super Princess Peach is a weird little oddity of a DS Mario game. Following in the footsteps of New Super Mario Bros DS, this 2D platformer has some very... Questionable aspects behind it. So, why don't we talk about it?
I have a Twitter: / ceegans - Hry
I don’t why people see the emotional mechanic as particularly questionable, because just think having superpowered emotions is really cool.
I think it's less the concept, and more the fact that this is kinda a stereotype, and they based Peach's first game around it.
Kinda hilarious. But realistically, I don't actually care that much.
It's weird to me that everyone seems to say that the emotions mechanic imply she has emotional problems when in fact it implies the complete opposite, which is that she has total control over her emotions all the time.
Yeah, Arlo lost some of my respect with that bad take.
Dude didn’t even play the game and just judged it through social justice lenses.
I really would love if the emotional enemies could return. The calm enemies in particular would potentially prove as horrifying. Imagine an area with a bunch of calm fire bros and a thin layer of frozen munchers. Sounds terrifying, right?
Real talk, some of these would make for good permanent additions. The enemies are just much more aggressive and interesting in this game.
Owned this since it came out. The mini games. Hours wasted. Guiding the toad through fire, the puzzles, all of it. Love this game.
Well I hope this video helped to bring back some memories then! =D
The game teaches you umbrellas can consume everything, something far more not kid friendly than crushing and drowing enemies in lava.
That's true.
Been waiting for this one, I’ve only played this game once when I was like 7 and have these tiny snipets of gameplay lodged in my memories
Yeah that sounds about right for this game.
Well, this video should be a good reminder at bare minimum. ;)
Huh, the only thing I knew about this game was how emotional Peach would get and that dirty joke at the end. It actually looks kinda neat, guess I'll look into it sometime in the future.
Pretty neato video.
Also I am convinced Luigi is some other worldly being, and he will take your soul. That or pull out a gun on you.
It's solid, but not mindblowing. I think New Super Mario DS is probably more fun, but this one is still good too.
Not sure about the soul part. I also haven't seen him with a gun yet, but it doesn't seem unlikely.
it's fucked up that Princess Peach only has 2 lines of dialogue and everything else is narrated by the sidekick. They'd never do that to Mario. You see, in Paper Mario.... oh...
I was born on the same day this game released in America...
Weird
That is pretty weird honestly.
I know the title is mostly bait but just gotta say before I watch the video
I do. It's one of my favourite games.
It is bait, but also kinda not. XD
@@DuoStuff Yeah I see that now that I've watched the video. (Excellent video by the way, it's nice to see this game get some appreciation)
You're kinda right for me too, whenever I'm reminded of this game, I often forget that the Toads are mandatory. Maybe that was because I was enjoying the game so much that I already had most of them at the end and didn't mind having to go back and get the rest of them.
Haha the title actually succeeded then!
"But frankly, that's probably never going to happen"
Oh boy did this take age questionably.
This was the first game I got on the Nintendo DS because I like Princess Peach.
It kinda needed a Princess Daisy in my own view to be honest but other than that it was a nice game.
But collecting the Toads just to finish the game is annoying so it's not perfect.
Man getting to play as Daisy as well would've been neato. I've always preferred her to Peach honestly. (And all the Mario girls.)
What would Daisy have added?
@@SlimeBlueMSshe can double jump
With super mario rpg that makes this the second reference to peach's vibrator in a nintendo game
sometimes... when i'm lonely, i sit and think about them [fades to princess peach and the umbrella dude]
How do you not know Perry’s name?! 😭
@@lonelyiguess9401 i am built different
You know, after seeing you review this, I'd love to see you review something I consider to be a hidden gem of a 2d platformer on the ds: Henry Hats Hatsworth and the puzzling adventure. If you can get your hands on it, you might like it, I know I do
I remember wanting this so bad as a kid and could never find it until like 5 years later but it was expensive. I then found it at a Library and checked it out and was extremely underwhelmed.
Peach is the avatar in this game. She controls the elements. She is a bad ass in my book.
I give this game a 8/10 super fun and I did mine going through the stages to get the Toads.
Theres no timer so you can take as long as you like. Upgrading her was also fun because you didn't have to unlock everything and you can make a challenge as well.
Here after new peach game coming out lmao
You remind me of relax Alex. I think your videos are so good man keep it up 😄
I’m a girl and I’m not offended by the emotions thing XD
Finally more videos in one of my favorite Mario games!
Yep! Hope you enjoy it! =D
Super Princess Peach was good and I’m tired of pretending it wasn’t
I mean yeah, it is good. It has some issues, but it's still fun. Not sure why so many other creators seem to dislike it.
In fairness to Tose, from what's known of their (mostly secret) gameography, it seems like they just put in as much effort as they're paid to put in. Someone wants a cash-in Shrek game on a budget of 50,000Y and a six-pack of Sapporo? They'll shit it out, as asked. But if someone pays them to do good work, they can do good work. Like, the Starfy series is totally solid. And what probably got them this gig.
I only played Starfy 4, but it has like the exact same weaknesses (and strenghts) as Super Princess Peach. The level design is super generic, but it’s cute, looks nice and controls well.
Yeah even in their best games, level design always seems to be their week point. They seem much better at visual design though.
Still, it's interesting to know this.
YES!!! I used to play this all the time as a kid and was gonna start replaying it soon.
I vividly remember the live action ad campaign that accompanied its release and other than thousand year old door it’s the only other Mario game I’ve ever completed.
It seems like you have an affinity for Mario games where you get to play as Peach then. XD
I had it. I lost it. Never beat it. Never learned how to use the joy emotion. Got stuck on a boss. Maybe I should get it again, just to experience my childhood again. My naive 6 or 7 year old childhood memories.
Lol, it's kinda shocking that you never learned how to do it, but I didn't know you could capture enemies, so I'm not much better.
Your channel layout really gives off RelaxAlax vibes, down to the purple thumbnails.
I was not expecting the vibrator reference
Oh my god I wanted this game as a kid and now I’m just floored
The commercial for this game blew my mind when it revealed that the Mario Brothers were in fact Plumbers. It also surprised my cousin that they were plumbers. also I've been meaning to try it yet I've not come across a copy in the wild for years. Weird.
Justice for peach she can float and is top tier in melee
I might be going crazy but, I swear he's getting more and more New Yorker as time passes
congratulations on 100k subs for duoreviews
This is one of the weirdest, most mish-mashy clashing games I've ever seen.
That's... Certainly a unique way to refer to it. XD
I actually have ideas for a sequel if anyone is interested.
Some Mario spin-offs have had...questionable material in them. Reminder that Fracktail in TTYD is weirdly obsessed with feet.
A day with a new DuoStuff video is a good day
Well thank you. I hope you enjoy the video! =D
@@DuoStuff Certainly did, keep up the great work fella!
I didn't get the vibrator joke until he explained it. I don't think that's what they were going for.
IDK, it's pretty blatant, and I am far from the first to bring up the comparison.
@@DuoStuff You are probably right then. I would like to see Mario games have writing and concepts with maybe some mature jokes but more like the first 3 seasons of Spongebob way rather than just being edgy for no reason.
If you say that joke and people get angry about it... well I guess what they're being pretty emotional aren't they
Yeah I'd say they wouldn't be vibing with the joke.
I'm more concerned about the tab named "Luigi is hot tho"
5:41
You might've heard this before, but the unfortunate implications of the "Vibe Sceptre" were probably a product of the translation. Japanese word exists without a clear English analogue, localizers decide to tap into slang to fill the gap, and BOOM: accidental sexual connotations.
I had a huge crush on Princess Peach as a child, so I always wanted to play this game, but I never had a DS.
I honestly think most people had a crush on Peach as a kid. I was more of a Daisy guy myself, but I get it, don't worry.
@@DuoStuffAs a child, I didn't even know Daisy existed, because I never played any Mario spin-offs. Besides Wii Sports, Sport games never interested me, and I already had Wii Party, so I didn't need Mario Party. I did always want Mario Kart though, but my mom refused to buy it, because she didn't like racing games 😆
Standard Princess Peach isn’t my type, but Paper Princess Peach makes my gay little heart flutter.
The emotion mechanic gets too much hate,i mean, have you seen the amount of anime with people getting angry to power up?
I have this game and need to play it
Love Super Princess Peach! I’m actually playing through it right now!!
This was my favourite DS game as a kid 😂 this, nsmb and sonic rush 👌🏻
Eh maybe after the new movie, Peach will get another chance
Thankfully, one particular spanish community will always remember Super Princess Peach...
Thank the SuperJueves community for this helpful favor...
I do not have context for this sadly. XD
@@DuoStuff and that's good lmao
At this point, the community has so many deep memes that looking at it from the outside can scare someone XD
I got a Super Princess Peach DS Carrying Case for 5 bucks like 10 years ago, and then my friends told me it was a sexist game for casuals so I never played it. I might have to get it loaded onto my daughter's 3DS anyway, looks like fun.
I mean it's a fun game at the end of the day, and the questionable stuff is easily overlooked while playing, so I don't think you need to worry about it. lol
Love that game, is my favorite character since Super Mario Bros 2 NES, also in 3D World on Wii U!
I almost exclusively play as her in 3D World, and I switch between her and Luigi in Mario 2.
We are getting a sequel very soon on the switch❤!
I got it when released and I adored this game! I 100% it and even got Starfy. D
So I’m trying to 100% it but I need help!!! I’m missing Toad Shot lv6 and lv7. Also the last item in the shop. (Also the last part of the story?? I guess?? I’m not sure what to call it 😭.)
@@lonelyiguess9401 I'd say just look up a guide? Also for doing toad shot I remember I had to just grind it out and try and beat it repeatedly. Good luck! : O
@@Pikacat98 Okay!! Thanks for the tips!! :D
Another DuoStuff banger..! ✌️😍
I remember really digging the sound track and would replay this game over and over. I just really liked certain levels for like.. the vibe (heh) and trying to get to the end in the most satisfying way
This guy seriously need some more recognation
The reason why this game is so underrated even though being good is because you see this released on the Ds in 2006 And another popular Mario game name new super Mario Bros also came out in 2006 so I think more people were buying that game then super princess peach another thing is that wii sports came out the same year So more people were buying both new super Mario Bros on the DS and Wii sports 2006 was a good year for Nintendo however I still think Super princess peach is a really good game even though I’m a guy gamer because I just Love Princess peach I think she’s really cute I’m in 11 year old kids so I’ll probably grow out of it but I think she’s one of the most attractive video game characters so I’m thankful she has a video game
I do remember it actually
Well you're one of the few.
My sister got this game and I played it over and over again. Because the copy was bugged and it kept deleting the save data. It was fun though
I never got the chance to play this game, but when I first heard of it I thought it was made up. Like one of those crappy fake NSMB3 boxarts made up. Low and behold, it wasn't a fever dream after all, and then I also learned about the vibe scepter.
What a weird game that I will likely never experience. Do hope Peach gets another game someday though. Personally I'm still waiting on that Waluigi solo game.
I'm not surprised Nintendo hasn't made a Waluigi game, but I sure would like to see what they'd do with one personally.
@@DuoStuff Waluigi Pinball but it's its own game. I think that's the perfect idea. Also, make it exclusive to Wiiware for some reason.
But yeah I can't see a Waluigi game, it'd be fun though.
Tose made the Starfy series which is really good
Starfy is fun, but not my favorite. Kinda prefer something like Kirby honestly.
"You don't remember..."
Actually, I saw this video's thumbnail, I'm like "Oh, I remember this game! I've heard of it!"
Lol, well I'm glad you recognized it.
I knew it existed..that's it. I couldn't have told you more than that before watching this video. It's that low on recognition. None of my nieces even played and they were right age at the time to have probably liked it.
Thank you for remembering (:
You're welcome! I hope you enjoy the video.

one of my friends from when i was in year 10/11 of secondary school used to say that a lot 🤣
Lol, that's actually really funny. XD
My mum has one of those scepters
Oof.
your mom has been laughing happily a lot because she was really enjoying playing super princess peach , you guys gotta get your heads out of the gutters.....
Ahh Super Princess Peach, another game I first played next to Big Brain Academy, I remember my sister had this game and when she had a DS too. And me being the jealous, younger brother who was supposed to have the game consoles before anyone else, I snuck this out of her room and played it for hours on end. This game was extremely underrated and forgotten. I love how each world in the game is based on a different type of emotion. My favorite was Fury Volcano. I played this game before NSMB.
Lol, you had to wait while your sisters got to experience the wonders of the DS. That's actually kinda rough honestly.
And yeah, Fury Volcano is also my favorite world as well.
you high af bro. cant even keep your eyes open. thanks for wearing the mask though, im trying to avoid germs
I personally saw my sis play this game way back in the days and didn't really see anything wrong with the narrative (for a Mario game) and Vibe elements.
Sure, it'd go wrong on Twitter, but Twitter is a hellhole anyways and even they can't deny Peach's always been a very feminine character from her inception up to even now (heck, I'd say the movie got her wrong more than any Mario game, this one included, but that's the fault of Illuminations and the general obsession around "girlbosses" in movies as of late).
Even disregarding the stereotype of "woman = emotional", Peach has always play the role of the Mario character with the most empathy; as particularly seen in the RPGs. Mario may be altruistic and Yoshi is definitively chill, but Peach was always intended to be a sort of "benevolent dictator", following the trope of a damsel in distress that still has the ability to grant a grand reward upon her rescue.
Social media has given corporations the idea that a woman has to be a "girlboss" to not be a stereotype; but that's entirely wrong, it's more akin to a spectrum. A character can be effeminate and still pack a punch; and that's exactly how Peach is used in this game. She still has her empathy, being willing to help Perry on top of saving her kingdom, but she's still taking matters into her own hands.
(If they wanted a tomboy, Daisy would be more like it; and even SHE wouldn't be devoid of any feminity, still wearing a poofy dress and having a flower motif)
And I don't see how helping an umbrella find their grandpa from before they got cursed into an umbrella is that weird for Mario's standards. Just on the regular, we have a giant turtle king constantly switching between generic evil dude and "I actually have a crush on the neighboring human princess that rules over mushroom people".
If anything, It's about on par with the dark tribe count whose girlfriend was turned into a butterfly and he lost his entire composure and tried to doom the multiverse as a result.
I actually played this game as a kid and rediscovering it as an adult, through its questionable elements... Not pleasant. All I remembered was the cute artstyle and the emotion mechanic, which at the time I thought was really cool, but now I can't believe it got approved by Nintendo... And the vibe scepter is just the cherry on top that absolutely ruins any fond memory of this game...
Luigi should start his own vlog channel
Lol. That'd be difficult for him since his little plush arms can't hold the camera. XD
So is the Smash Intros video canon to the Duo lore or not
Yes, all videos I make are canon to the series lore. In fact, I intentionally did something in this video that the Smash Intros video and prior has been building to.
Like despite it being a joke, there is actually a subtle narrative present. Whether anyone finds out the truth behind it is the question.
Super mario rpg has a vibrator reference they call it ????
It does indeed.
Remember it? I played it yesterday.

Greetings DuoStuffs
Well hello there KyleElemental
i do
end of story lo
Only Princess peach game I can only remember is the Flash one, you know wich game I'm talking about it
I... Don't actually. What game? XD
@@DuoStuff I think it was originally called Mario is missing(yeah like the shitty educational game) but they later changed it to Princess peach's untold tale or something
Oh okay, I guess I just never heard of it.
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope you enjoy the video!
I know this is entirely unrelated to the video, but have you ever thought about making a discord server?
Had one briefly before abandoning it. At this point, however, I'm unsure if I really want to do one considering how things have been going with the channel.
Fun video! Too bad I had to stop watching near the end because I'm currently avenging my child self who never made it to the end, so i'm keeping that cutscene as a surprise!
the title of this video is a lie
No you did
I really like nsmb2 ok? being a NSMB fan is hard.
I do too actually. It's my 3rd favorite behind DS and Luigi U.
It's Wii and U that I'm not as big on
@@DuoStuff I really like u actually, especially the switch port, its Wii that I haven't played yet.
Why don’t you go back and Make your other creepypasta videos you said you were going to make?
Playing this game is why i’m gay now
I mean is it really? How did that come about from this?
That’s so fucked up
oh?
Is that a good oh?
no
Ah I see. Sorry you didn't enjoy this one.
Dude, I was vibin’ with the quick homage to shitty mid 2000s humor until you wimped out like that. Apologizing just makes it look like an embarrassing accident. Not doing that is humor 101. It’s why confident puns are better than nervous puns 100% of the time.
F Twitter.
Bro for real tho. Twitter is garbo.
Wh....why do you need a mask?
It's an edgy Sona thing. Calm down.
Heard of the emotion thing, cool idea but it only appearing with a female lead is... Questionable
