      Thank you! You can create filters in Thunderbird to reduce the amount of Spam or Junk mail ( support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-junk-spam-messages ) you can also install an add-on called Inbox Cleaner of expired Emails (addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/emic/?src=search) that will delete or move messages that reach a expiration date in your Email Inbox. This will help prevent messages from building up in your Inbox over time. You also have filters in your Tool menus that you can setup to keep certain emails from people while deleting the rest of your Emails. Thunderbird is very flexible and customizable.

      I placed a link below to the Thunderbird Support website below. Post your problem on the site and someone from the community will help you. I would try to offer help, but it may have something to do with Windows. Good luck!

    How do I set up groups in my Address Book?

    • @tommythompson002
      @tommythompson002  Před 4 lety +1

      To setup a new Group, open Mozilla Thunderbird and click on your Inbox. Then press Cntrl+Shift+B or click on the Tools menu and select Address Book. When the Address Book loads, click on the File menu, New, and then Mailing List. Type in your new Group name in the List Name, then type in a List Nickname, and a brief Description. Then enter your email addresses to the list below. If you have a long list you can import then into that Group as you normally import a list of emails in your default list. To send an email to everyone in your list, click on the Write button to compose your email and click in the To section to place the insertion point in that area. Then press Cntrl+Shift+B or click on the Tools menu and select Address Book. Select your group or list on the left then press Cntrl+A to select everyone in your group or list and drag them to the To section. I hope that helps. If not, let me know and over the weekend I'll add the steps on my website. Good luck!

    I want to upgrade on Ubuntu 15.10 default Thunderbird. First, I don't want to upgrade to latest version and second not with a portable version (not on /opt folder). I would like to download a version I want, and install it as an upgrade. I have seen a lot on both CZcams videos and web sites, but not found any solution.

      Below is a list of the releases of Thunderbird. You can try to find the version you're looking for and upgrade your older version. I've never upgraded a very old version to an old version, so you may want to try it in a virtual machine to make sure you won't lose anything. I hope this helps. Good luck!

      @@tommythompson002 Thanks for your reply and time. ftp server url you give me, is something I have already found. The problem is not if I lose something. Your vm suggestion is a good solution, but I have something close to that:cloned HDDs in order to make all tests I want. So, the problem is not data lose. The problem is the PROCEDURE of upgrade. I am a Ubuntu novice/beginner. As I have understood, things on Linux (as far as it concerns application upgrade, and Thunderbird talking), are not as simp!e as Windows platform. I mean, on Windows, I download Thunderbird next version .exe, run the .exe setup file, and (maybe some questions/suggestions on the wizard), and complete (on a simple case). On the other hand, on Linux, even if I download from the ftp server the version I want, is a kind of many steps procedure to make a complete and CORRECT upgrade. Until now, I have seen so many videos, and travelled to so many sites to find this correct Linux upgrade procedure for Thunderbird, but found nowhere the solution upgrade.

    I have received alerts that my Gmail account has been found on the dark web. I have had the same address for many years and need to change it. If I use the data on Gmail
    to import to Thunderbird email will this compromise Thunderbird. What do you recommend?? Also, do you know how to get google to close the Gmail account??

      I have received that same email from Gmail. I entered my email address in the link below and it showed that my email info was leaked from Dailymotion, Canva, and Edmodo. I changed my password for my gmail account in case someone tried to use my old information to access it.
