No annoying music? No blathering commentary? No crowds of pedestrians on the trail? PERFECT. PERFECT. PERFECT. Now *THAT* is the way to make a video of the Grand Canyon. The grandeur of this hike totally carries the video with no need for anything else. THANK YOU for doing it RIGHT!

Oh you’re too kind. It was spiritual to enjoy this special place like this. I am glad I could share it. One day I’ll make it all the way down.

@@darekm101 I just want to elaborate, because we have been planning our first visit to the Grand Canyon for the past six months. I've watched hundreds of CZcams videos that have anything to do with the area from the south rim to the north, from Williams to Cameron to Page, in an effort to figure out what we can (or can't!) do at our age as senior citizens.
Almost all of them are full of nonstop chit-chat, irrelevant music that not only doesn't add to the quality of the video but actually detracts, some poor attempts at humor and comedy, and every other type of overreaction or inappropriate videography that I can think of.
To me, a visit to a place like the Grand Canyon is one of reverence, a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many. You hit the nail on the head by describing it as a spiritual experience. I want to experience the Grand Canyon for all those qualities, not the bells and whistles and hoopla that people add to CZcams in an attempt to impress others with their video editing skills.
The quality of your video is absolutely superior; many similar CZcams videos candidly are out of focus. Yours is tack sharp. And technique: The slow pans across the panomora of the canyon, the pauses at signs long enough that we can actually read them, and the pauses at just the right time that sense when you realized that you should just stop and and take in the breathtaking scenery is top drawer all the way. And all I can hear is your footsteps. Videography at its best.
I won't be able to make this same hike that you did due to my age and medical issues. We won't attempt anything further than the rim or near the rim. So I can simply say that better than any other CZcams video I have watched, *YOURS* best captures what it is really like to hike down into the canyon, and for that reason your video is head-and-shoulders above all the others.
And yours is the first video I've watched that makes me realize that I will be able to get some pretty decent still photographs from the trailhead without hiking down into the canyon. Thankfully, your video makes me feel like I actually took the hike myself.
Kudos on a job very well done!

@@darekm101 We made it to the Grand Canyon in June 2022. Thanks to the inspiration you provided in this video, I took a chance and walked down the Bright Angel Trail to the first tunnel. Not that far. What, 600-700 feet from the trailhead? But at least I can say I did it, and have the photos to prove it. My only regret is that it just didn't work out for us to make it to the South Kaibab trailhead pictured in your beautiful video. But at least we made it to Lipan Point and watched a stunning sunset over the canyon.
THANK YOU once again for motivating me to at least attempt a small bit of one of the trails. It's everything you captured in this video -- and more!

@@LittleBurchie I am so happy you were able to witness Grand Canyon first hand! I am glad you're celebrating the success of walking down Bright Angel to first tunnel. That's awesome! Thank you for sharing this info with us! We recently took our friends there and didn't go down too far either. The point to which one got does NOT matter. It's way more important to just enjoy yourself in a safe and responsible way. Appreciate the grandeur of the place and respect the boundaries it commands from each one of us. Go down only as far as you find enjoyable and you did exactly that and it's worth celebrating. Glad you were able to witness one of the most amazing places on this planet. Thanks again for coming back here and sharing your story!

    Fantastic video!!!
It is a shame that you didn't carry on for a little bit more and go to Skeleton Point, you were so close and had done all of the hard work.
I am planning on walking from the rim to Skeleton Point and back in April 2024. I have already started training for it and can do more that the ascent from Skeleton Point to the rim, but need to increase the weight of the backpack so that I can easily carry 3L of water, snacks and a camera and to maintain that level of fitness throughout the year.

Thank you! I wish I went further as well, I had to turn around since my knee started hurting, it's kinda easy to keep going down to start with and then the climb up could turn brutal. Same situation in Hawaii Haleakala from top down, but then have to climp up.
Good luck on your training, I hope you have amazing weather and great condition! Thanks again for the kinds words about the video.

Thank you for this magnificent South Kaibab descent.
We have the impression of going down with you televisedly the video is beautiful (image quality) and stability. I regained our sensations during the descent of Bright Angel ;-) But the South Kaibab trail is more difficult and also lacks maintenance. Your videos really make you want to relive all the intense moments we have during our walks far from all the hustle and bustle and in communication with nature and in such a magnificent place.
Can I ask you what camera you filmed with?

Beautifully made 4K silent hike. Thank you for the efforts. What are the electronic equipments you have on you besides water and food? What’s the total weights? Lastly what the exact month and date of the trip? Just curious.
I will be there in 3.5 months doing R2R.

Thank you! It’s my dream to do rim to river to rim trail run. Are you walking or trail running?
This was recorded ok gopro, mounted on a dji gimble, in a z-axis stabilizer. External microphone was zoom h1n. I think the weigh is relatively reasonable. Probably 2 pounds.

    • @christophertran8896
      @christophertran8896 Před měsícem +1

      Thanks for the information.
I also want to express a deep appreciation and gratitude for this video as well as the other videos that you have invested the resources and time to produce 4K silence hiking.
I went ahead and ordered the 3D printed ScottyMakesStuff Micro Pro 2 Z-Axis stabilizer, DJI Osmo Pocket, GoPro Max and GoPro Hero 12 and of course my trusty iPhone 15 pro max with lots of backup batteries and filters. They are in total 8.5-10 lbs…trying to get it down to 6 lbs. Every ounce counts for long hikes.
I hiked R2R not trail run. The risks are too high. I have other safer trail options for runs. I planned two hikes…5 days and nights. Also during my 15 breaks I plan to do some journaling and watercolor sketches…’slow down and silence’…old school style.
      Keep up the great work!

@@christophertran8896 you’re too kind! BTW. I didn’t have good luck with scotty makes stuff, it’s flimsy. I got the z-axis on amazon.
I’ll write a longer recommendation for your gear adjustment when I get back. Mixing media from all these devices will cause headaches in post processing.

Thanks for your question and no worries. I have recorded this on a GoPro mounted on "Z Axis Stabilizer" and for audio I used Zoom H1n microphone. I have recently switched away from GoPro to the DJI action cams, both are great my reasons had to do with recording car rides more than anything.
Australia is on my list of places to visit! Have a great day!
