It took me a while to realize what "It's better to be held than holding on" meant. It basically means that when you don't like life and you're hanging by a thread, it's easier to bare that pain with someone by your side. It's easier to have someone holding your hand while you hang off a cliff than it is to hold on by yourself. These lyrics make me wanna cry...

I was going through so much and I started disassociating with every people i know. My relationship was rocky because of me..and these particularly line made me realize I was not only keeping myself in pain but also the people I love. He was trying but I was not doing my part so I opened up to my boyfriend, cried my heart out and now we're going strong.

if you're wondering where the music video is, it's deleted. Many shinee fans were uncomfortable with jonghyun's instagram photos shown in the mv, especially since the lyrics were triggering and we don't want to be reminded of that event. Jonghyun's family filed a complaint as well. This is NOT The rose's fault, its the mv director. The members of The Rose had no idea that Jonghyun's photos were used as 'props' for their mv until we pointed it out. Anyway a statement was released where the mv director apologised and the company took down the video. I don't know if the company is going to reedit the mv and upload it.

how are the lyrics are triggering? it's not about jonghyun and to me seem like a comfort song for those who are depressed, suicidal, or self harm.
I feel like shinee fans are overly sensitive to the most slightly things that remind them of him. either way, everything is going to be triggering off of jonghyun. Due to his birthday, his radio, his songs, and every year when December comes around.
Christina Bellerose I think what they mean by triggering is if people are suffering the the loss of someone to suicide like in some people's case, Jonghyun. Suicide can be a very harsh topic and when you manage to divert your mind from it, it can sometime hurt really bad if you are hit by something that reminds you. Don't get me wrong, I Stan the Rose and love them with all my life and this song had helped me, I however understand what some people say about triggering lyrics. Have a happy new year~

This song is my salvation. Mental breakdown, panic attack, self-harming, being unable to sleep because of your inner demons, or even feeling physical pain, I just listen to this song on loop and I get better. I don't think I would have been able to sleep much in the past months if it wasn't for this song. I literally cannot fall asleep if I'm not listening to it. It's so sad that the M/V was taken down and everything. It's so sad that The Rose were treated so badly by their company. It's so tragic yet this song is my salvation. I sent this to my bestfriend who was going through a tough time and i couldn't go to her. I got worried because she didn't respond for a few hours. She was crying over the lyrics *"You wanna hurt yourself ill stay with you"* she was very close to self harm but she said i really helped. She's my biggest supporter and i really miss talking to her. She moved schools but she's finally okay.

This came up on my Spotify autoplay after a BTS playlist. I was working at the time, and I literally stopped everything and sat listening through the entire song. When it hit the final verse (specifically the English part), I nearly cried.
I haven't been in kpop long (just since May 2019), but I've looked into how closed off certain stuff is over there. When that final verse came on and I realized what the song was about, it was like the last part hit me full force.
I immediately went to look up the lyrics, and I will definitely be checking out more of their music. And even if I end up not stanning, this song will always have a deep meaning to me.

She’s In The Rain is where they discover hardships and struggles withering the what was a beautiful flower of their love, hence, “We’re in the rain,” to show that they are in this together, to go through this together and to find the water for this flower but Take Me Down is where they cannot take it anymore, where this flower truly has no way of reviving its bright colours, beautiful scent and passionate love. With that, as said in Insomnia, they break up but that doesn’t stop them from having their past lover to linger in their mind every night and it’s just such a beautiful story ugh their MINDS

The last album was like that. Candy was them while they were happy in that beginning phase. Ily was them telling them that they love them. Baby is them Letting them go sorry is them regretting it and trying to apologise and like we used to is looking back on everything and letting it go. I think it ties in with this album where they finally get overr the last person with like we used to then then it starts with I don't know you and the story continues.
That's a good thing though. Music *should* tell a story, share a point of view or help to experiance what life in a culture is like. That is the essence of true ART! 😃
In school we have to do a presentation about a meaningful song to us. I immediately thought of The Rose, more specifically She's in the rain and sorry because the lyrics relate in some ways to my life. Thank you The Rose for all your songs, whether its love, sadness, mental health, anger, regret and even happiness. I hope their music has helped and will help many people like it did me. I can't wait to share this song to my class so that they might learn to appreciate korean music, even though most of them hate K-POP.. :( Anyways, I couldn't think of a better song to chose!

I cried for the first time when I listened to this while reading the translation. The lyrics are just resonating so much to me. I've been diagnosed with depression and anxiety for many years already, and I felt like being drenched the rain, crying of loneliness because I feel so alone with no one helping me, no one I can reach out to, and all I can do is camouflage my tears and pain in the rain. When I listened to this especially during the part "You wanna hurt yourself, I'll stay with you" onwards, I broke down crying cause I felt it so much, I never knew how much I longed for someone to be with me and to comfort me in my never ending rain of pain.

I love this song, I can relate to it so much.... I have a friend that last year almost took herself multiple times and it was such a scary point in my life. I can’t imagine what a life without her would be like or what she was going through. I had no idea what to do, but once she talking to me I was glad. She was so good at hiding it, and all she wore were long sleeved sweaters to cover her arms for sensitive reasons. She is much better now and is going to therapy. But it was frickn scary! Till this day I feel like I should have done something more. No seventh grader should be that depressed..... so for anyone who is struggling currently, I love you and I will support you no matter your race, sexuality, religion, what you identify as, etc. Talking with someone always makes things better, trust me.💜

it was released during one of the happiest parts of my life and i never really liked korean songs at that point, whether it was a band, a k-pop group, k-indie, or anything else. i'm not sure when everything started going downhill but it was soon after that. now i listen to it and try to cry, sometimes looking at the lyrics and sometimes not. the end always gets me. i used to harm myself using scissors or a letter opener and now i'm constantly tempted to do the same thing again. i lie to my family because even though they've gone through the same thing, i don't feel like they'd understand. anytime i'm angry, they tease me or bother me like i'm not allowed to have my own feelings. i can't sleep at nights and i'm always up for 24 hours, and even if i sleep for a long time, it's never enough. it's like i want to close my eyes and never open them again, to escape from my reality. most people would consider me lucky and i'm selfish for not enjoying my life but i hate it. i'm your basic girl who thinks she's overweight, ugly, ungrateful who just listens to sad songs at night and sometimes i question if i'm actually faking it. i don't know at this point but i just wish i could go back to when this song was released. i was happy then, maybe i could make better decisions than i have. maybe i could fix my mistakes.
but this song just gets to me. even if i'm surrounded by people on a clear sunny day, i feel lonely. but when i listen to this, i have a little bit of hope that there's people there for me. but i'm sure it fades because no matter how much i vent, it just doesn't feel right. it feels like i'm forcing myself to say those things because i've revealed so much and i don't want my friends to worry.

i say this because i know my friends and i talk to them everyday, but you, i might never see again. we're just strangers on the internet and we probably won't ever talk again. my therapist says that using the internet isn't bad, because it's how i cope. it's better to talk to people i don't know because i don't know them. they don't necessarily see the mask i've put on to show others, and they don't know what i look like, how i act, and they listen. they don't tell me that 'you're young, you just have to push through,' or 'i know.'
they say 'i'm here for you, you can talk to me whenever you need.' nobody in real life says that. they just nod their heads and block out my words because i'm a child, they probably don't think about me again. they know so many other people, they're going through the same thing, so why should i matter?

i didnt expect to, but i started crying at “it’s better to be held than holding on”. around last year was when i first heard shes in the rain, and it was during one of the worst two years of my life. i was incredibly depressed, and no song could comfort me like this one. idk, the lyrics feel kinda brutal in a way, but not in a bad way. the song makes me feel like its saying “i understand what you feel, and its okay” you know? its truly so beautiful, i couldnt be happier that i was lucky enough to find this song in my time where i needed it most
