    If I was his boss I would have docked him for time-wasting. Splitting that lift in two would have taken half the time. What a pratt.

    • @bjkerp
      @bjkerp Před 9 lety +3

      You realize the machine is designed to unload in one go. Why the fuck would you split it? The logs were stuck in the trailer, he was simply trying to free it by gently going back and forwards. Lot of people talking shit here. If his boss caught him fucking around trying to split the load he would not be happy

    • @struck2soon
      @struck2soon Před 9 lety +4

      Understand this: time is money. Therefore anything that takes longer to do one than another is wasting money. In this situation, splitting the load would clearly have been quicker, therefore saving time and money. Simples!

    • @fatsacagreen
      @fatsacagreen Před 9 lety +3

      bjkerp We run one of those in our log yard, wouldnt be hard at all to weasel those forks between those logs, to split that load. We do it all the time to keep our machines from struggling (and if the boss-man saw that he would FLIP HIS LID!). AND! The logs are not "stuck" in there, you don't need to move it around to free it.

    • @brianwheway1933
      @brianwheway1933 Před 9 lety +3

      what your also fogetting lads, if the machine has to toppled over or damage the HGV he would get f*****d just in the back ground is a moble crane that could have just took two logs off making it much safer, sod the cost! if you want to talk about cost if it had gone wrong how much more would it of cost to put right? these machines anit cheap to fix are they?? the insurence company would say that they would not pay out because the machine was opperating well out of its safe working limits. and lets face it we all know what insurance companies are like they are sods for not paying up. any excuse to get out of paying up like there is a Y in the week will do

  • @TahreyUK
    @TahreyUK Před 11 lety

    Construction site vehicles usually have quite low pressure in the tyres to soften the ride and allow them to get a better grip on the soft dirt. So when they're loaded up a bit they'll naturally balloon a little.

  • @adamgarthwaite5364
    @adamgarthwaite5364 Před 11 lety

    Its for when its travelling on uneven ground, if the loader had a solid axle then the wheels would go into hole and it would rock over and tip, where as the axle pivoting allows it to stay upright and more balanced. The reason it was rocking was just the weight of the tyres as the loader was bouncing it was rocking them back and forward

  • @OiGinger
    @OiGinger Před 11 lety

    I heard the local volvo agent went down there after seeing this video (or one like it) and told them their warranty is essentially void now. I work in and out of that port all day during the summer, driving right past the log yards and havent seen any of these guys doing this in a long time.

  • @ScottsRDOunits
    @ScottsRDOunits Před 11 lety

    Nice Loader! The problem with this picture is that whoever spec'd the loader out, ordered it with to big of grapple head! Around a sawmill machines will be pushed to do whatever they can do, even if it doesn't help productivity. If they need to pick-up a full trailer load, a larger loader should have been bought.
    In the background, I see a stacker driving around with his stabalizers down, it won't be long before it's laying on it's side!
    Management Wake Up!!

    Nothing unusual here, goes on all the time, Happened during John Ray's Operation, now it happens during C3's operation. And yes it would be smarter to take a couple logs off, but that's how its done in Wellington. I wonder if the truck driver still has his amazing Docket of the 58 tonne log load that he brought in, may Moon's ago and have you framed it yet?, so proud of you.

    • @tuNppu85
      @tuNppu85 Před 10 lety +5

      First off all, that loader isn't designed to lift loads like that.. And second, it will break transmission or differential because rear wheels are of the ground repeatedly while driving..

    The front tires look like they would explode.

  • @TahreyUK
    @TahreyUK Před 11 lety

    Given that the fulcrum in this case counts as the front wheels, and the height of the load doesn't matter so much as its fore/aft position relative to said fulcrum (as the main force acting on it is gravity, not some kind of rotational torque from an engine, or a jet attached to the load), and the lifting arm only has one significant point of articulation - right over the fulcrum - I'd actually be MORE inclined to drive it around - slowly and softly! - with the arm tilted up rather than lowered.

  • @AussieMusicRocks
    @AussieMusicRocks Před 11 lety

    Most likely he'd say "in order for that machine to lift it's maximum capacity all four wheels should be full of water". "This will give greater counter balance in the rear and less tyre distortion in the front".
    If that lift was to heavy for the machine the hydraulic safety bypass valve would have opened not allowing the machine to lift it's rear in the air like that.

  • @icicicles
    @icicicles Před 11 lety

    I'll give you the tires are strong even though most are recaps but the stress he puts on the machine is awesome. A broken hydraulic line can coast the Co a lot of money with down time and repairs not to mention the damage to the environment and the truck Co's losses if he shears the saddle on the hay-rack.
    I've driven these machines for 23 yr's and have seen this happen countless times without over stressing the machine. This only stresses the parts and causes premature ware.

    if it is pine. it is impossible to be 19 tonnes. there are something like 20 logs over there and most of the diameters are below 35 cm and the length is 6 meters. with a simple calculation it is max 12 tonnes. in any case. half of the truck is already unloaded and as far as i know you can load max 25-26 tones to one truck because of the regulations.

  • @mrbluenun
    @mrbluenun Před 12 lety

    I wonder if this forestry areas owner will even get extra counter weights fitted, or with he let the machinery struggle? And that was not a particularly large load right?
    Take care and thanks for the upload, mrbluenun

  • @TahreyUK
    @TahreyUK Před 11 lety

    So did he forget the claw pivots as well as the arm, or was it just not strong enough to do it until he'd rocked it around a bit? The critical moment seemed to come when the claw finally tilted back and suddenly the jack between arm and tractor was able to tilt the arm instead of the tractor base unit thanks to the altered centre of balance...
    And I thought these things usually had some engineering tolerance built in, so if it wouldn't move at all / overbalanced you'd badly exceeded the limits?
