Tractor-trailer forced to drive backwards after shutting down Northern State Parkway

- Chopper 2 flew overhead as a tractor-trailer was forced to drive backwards for nearly a mile after shutting down the Northern State Parkway.
We know some of yous are absolutely amazed at our ability to back these things up...what yous don't know is all the times we had to back out of somewhere WE SHOULDN'T BE that gave us these fine skills.

I’m a truck driver. If it’s called a parkway, it’s not for trucks. And it almost certainly has a ‘No trucks’ sign at the on ramp.

@@TheIkeman74 dumbest reply ever. Low bridges are the number 1 thing to worry about. Use a proper truck GPS, and review your route before you go. That’s just being smart and professional.
I was just in that area last week and for sure there are signs that say no trucks on parkway. I was so glad to get a load going West.
Where did you hear that I don't know of a parkway that doesn't allow trucks

Could never figure out why we drive on the parkway yet park in the driveway...🙄

Must have missed the signage for No Trucks allowed......alot of driver s foreign and domestic are not taught any trucking knowledge, CDL's being purchased, foreigners that can read English, truck driving schools that turn out "driver's " who arent prepared for the industries many obstacles, problems , and headaches

Had to call the cops to back me up once, he wanted to ticket me. I showed him that the only sign restricting trucks was AFTER you couldn't turn around. He held traffic and I was on my way.

The truck gps are dumpster fires. Wish google would make one. They probably have enough street images and AI to do it right. Also Pennsylvania needs to call into whomever, because none of their updated truck route bs is on the gps.

If he actually hit a bridge then he would’ve lost his CDL.
He wasn't forced to drive backwards. He didn't pay attention to the signs, and was smart enough to not hit any low bridges. Backing up a trailer isn't difficult especially when you gave the WHOLE road cleared for you. He was lucky.
Another fun filled day In Shumerland.
Italian driver: "oh no, our truck is 13 feet high and the bridge clearance is only 10".
Irish driver: "what are you worried about? there's no cops around right now"
Gotta pay attention to the signs they are like that in the state of New York.

Backing a mile on a highway would be easy for any decent driver.
I usually mapquest or Google earth before I go somewhere I haven't been before. Try to stay off youtube.....
If it were Swift or JB Hunt, they'd have driven under the overpass thinking they could make it.
There are MANY warning signs which state that trucks are banned on parkways. Think genius was probably using a GPS for cars. At least he didn’t hit a bridge.

Maybe New Yorkers should realize low clearances don’t keep minorities from coming to your neighborhood. They don’t have to use a bus that just happens to be slightly too tall for the overpasses on your parkway. Just make all these limited access highways truck accessible already.

Can't say that.. no protest..highway clear...just driver ignored all the warning signs that why he gonna get a fat ticket
