It still saddens me that I haven't truly been alive during all of this. I had no idea any of this was happening, and now that I've discovered Avicci's music, I almost cry knowing that nothing else is coming out. Back then we used to always see eachother on the weekends thanks to our grandpa (He passed away) Now we can't and i wish i could go back in time and cherish to moments more. You never know how long you have left with them so keep thr memories close to you. That is something i will pass to anyone reading this. I remember when I was 16-17 and when I turned 18 quite well. I am now 21 and it is the exact same as when I was 17, or 16 in your case. It feels the same way. Yes, you do get a bit more responsibility, as you need to start working and find out what you wanna do with your life (academically), but your still just a kid. You can still have fun and do everything that you mentioned in your comment and a lot more.
