    About The Game...
In this city-building strategy game, you control a group of exiled travelers who decide to restart their lives in a new land. They have only the clothes on their backs and a cart filled with supplies from their homeland.
The townspeople of Banished are your primary resource. They are born, grow older, work, have children of their own, and eventually die. Keeping them healthy, happy, and well-fed are essential to making your town grow. Building new homes is not enough-there must be enough people to move in and have families of their own.
Banished has no skill trees. Any structure can be built at any time, provided that your people have collected the resources to do so. There is no money. Instead, your hard-earned resources can be bartered away with the arrival of trade vessels. These merchants are the key to adding livestock and annual crops to the townspeople’s diet; however, their lengthy trade route comes with the risk of bringing illnesses from abroad.
There are twenty different occupations that the people in the city can perform from farming, hunting, and blacksmithing, to mining, teaching, and healing. No single strategy will succeed for every town. Some resources may be more scarce from one map to the next. The player can choose to replant forests, mine for iron, and quarry for rock, but all these choices require setting aside space into which you cannot expand.
The success or failure of a town depends on the appropriate management of risks and resources.

Forester, Hunter, Gatherer -- Make these 3 buildings close together. I call this an FGH node. Make multiple FGH nodes around a marketplace. Depending on terrain, you can fit about 4-5 FGH nodes around one market. Doing this kind of setup before doing any farms or fishing docks, means you'll get lots of food to help your village out. FGH nodes can feed several hundred villagers.
It is very possible to feed the villagers with farms and fishing docks at the start, but they can be in addition to 1-2 FGH nodes (because having a steady stream of food will help at the start, compared to farms that harvest in the autumn and fishing docks that may or may not be optimally placed)
The FGH node can also be created with homes and barn/stockpile nearby, as well as a woodcutter or herbalist. It just depends on how much you want to take up space inside the FGH node that will not be available to the FGH buildings. Personally, I find that making multiple FGH nodes will make up for any loss of space taken up by their homes and storage buildings inside the node.

I bought this game a week ago and spent quite a lot of time in it. After abandoning about a quintillion villages, I decided to only build a maximum of two houses per year, to get rid of the starvation problem. Now i am suprised that 20 people can live of two fishermen, 2 coopers and a smoker. I'm really lookinf forward to my first 100 people town, great game.

that is also how I build .. 1 to 2 houses per year, regardless of knowing how many married couples there are. This provides a decent growth rate with new children but not necessarily an over-population of people so that the working adults won't be able to support the population growth.
Some people like to build a home per every 2 new adult workers, or they wiil even peek inside the homes to see how many male and female adults there are, to decide about making a home. But I tend to skip all that and just go for 1-2 houses a year for about the first 10-20 years or until getting town hall

7:00 - Yes there is a way you can empty that! There is a mod called Warehouse with a Stocker Role! The items placed into the warehouse do not work like storage barn and are not counted towards available inventory for immediate use. The Warehouse interface allows you to remove items from community access and to restock your Barn or Resource Piles when you need it! Hope this helps!

Without mods, this game would have faded fast. Colonial Charter, MegaMod and all the other guys like RedK and The North. After playing the mods, you get refreshed to go back and play vanilla every now and then. Forget miners and quarries. Use those workers as choppers for firewood. Add more trade ports and setup all the trades that you can at one port to always bring logs. Trade firewood for logs, make more firewood and you'll have all the trade resources you need to keep a good stock of steal tools. Mines and Quarries are just kill people aren't very productive unless fully manned. All that manpower on firewood and trading goes WAY further.

Farm is very slow of giving food. Build more fishing dock, gather hut, hunter cabin, and assign more workers for fast food generation. And make sure you provide enough tools for workers.

You need look up a farm guide to minmax ppl farms are 7x7 to give them allot of "off time" to help in other places and get close to 100% yield

You "played a lot" and the game for you "it's easy" and yet you build boarding house first. LOL sure dude, real professional move right there😂

      How is that bad?
Boarding the easiest way to give a large sum of people a home

@@Nomannium you are just shooting yourself in the foot. Families do not reproduce, couples don't marry in boarding houses, only when they live in individual houses. a boarding house is a good way to make sure you can accomodate incomming population from migration or normal organic growth, giving you time to plan and increase production before having this people start reproducing and pumping out kids.
a boarding house is not intneded to be built at the beggining of the game. before you can gather all the resources to make up for what you wasted building the boarding house, you are already several generations late.
Plus the boarding house isn't even resource efficient when compared to normal houses. a normal house holds 1 family and costs 16 wood, 8 stone, a boarding house holds 5 families and costs 100 wood and 45 stone. So it costs both more stone and more wood. Considering you gonna have to build houses anyways rather soon otherwise you gonna lose the game to an aging population who left no offspring, building the boarding house is a complete waste of resources. It can be used as a startegy like I said in the begining of the comment, in mid to late hame a a way of population control, to make sure things don't go out of hand.
But to start your settlement with a boarding house and claim you have played much banished is just silly. Plus this guy built a market too, if I remember this correctly. eheh
there is never only one way to play a game. but certain things go so against the game mechanics that if you do them, you better have a very good reason to do so.

The game is also "easy" for him because he plays with a ton of mods that increase all resources and give him things upfront he normally needs to work hard to earn. Love to see him play vanila and see if he gets past first winter!
