- Hello & welcome along on this walk! If you're new here - my name is Sarah and each week I head out on a walk with my faithful companion Jack Spaniels, to explore somewhere in this beautiful country of Scotland and hopefully find something to paint back in my studio at home.
This week we are exploring some of the best spots to enjoy the cherry blossom in Scotland - three locations for the price of one!
You can visit parks in the big cities, as they always have great displays, but these spots are fantastic if you want somewhere a bit quieter and off the beaten track :)
I also take photos of the blossom on my adventures and turn one of them into a watercolour painting at the end of the video. Watch as this beautiful flower comes to life on the page.
Best locations for Blossom in Scotland:
The Meadows & Prince's Street Gardens - Edinburgh
Kelvingrove Park - Glasgow
Pittencrieff Park - Dunfermline
Dollar Burn - Dollar
Letham Glen - Leven
Let me know if you know of any other great spots in the comments!
If you enjoyed this video and you haven't already, please check out my other videos - including the three special Skye episodes, where we explore some incredible scenery. Join me again next week as we explore somewhere else in Scotland and look for painting inspiration...

Wow. Those pink blossoms against a blue sky!
Oh and I can’t contain the amount of joy and love I have for Jack! He’s a very special and good boy! His excitement in the blossoms brought huge grins to my face throughout the video.
Aww thanks Kristi! I can’t blame you - he is the most wonderful dog 😊
What beautiful locations, i wasn't surprised to see Jack in the water hehehe.... the painting WOW outstanding xxx
Yup - can’t keep him out of the water!!
Angel the Duck has found the Best possible home !!
...a Duck taking a shower ! that is just superb !
pure joy !
I love those cherry blossoms.
It reminds me of a yearly ritual I would do when I lived at my old house on a street with a long row of double blossom cherry trees. When the cherry blossoms start to drop. I would park my old Volvo sedan under the cherry trees each night. And without fail there would be a night with a little wind and rain that would dump a heavy load of blossoms on the car. That morning I would become a floral parade of one. I would drive sedately around the neighborhood running a few errands, and shedding cherry blossoms all along the way. I moved away from there about 22 years ago, but when I see ornamental cherrys, I always think of driving around shedding flowers.🌸
Thank you Sarah, Willie & Jack for taking us along on your cherry blossom adventure! The colors were so breathtakingly beautiful with all those shades of pink & some white too!
Jack seemed to be in all his glory enjoying his water play & he always makes me smile.😊
Are the blossoms very fragrant?
We are always blessed on our daily walks with the beautiful fragrance of honeysuckle & magnolias here in TN!❤️
Once again, Beautiful. Beautiful music. Beautiful photography. Beautiful painting. You both are so talented. Just a great pleasure to watch. And Jack, such a cutie.
Thank you!! So glad you liked it 😊
The contrast between blossom and vivid blue sky is always incredible. It seems Jack also loves the blossom 😂 More incredible paintings!
That was a very nice walk. The cherry blossom was beautiful! Thank you Sarah. Willies guitar kept putting me to sleep its so relaxing. ☺️🥰
Thank you Tina!! So glad you liked it all 😊
Cherry blossoms are breathtaking, so I especially enjoyed this walk. Your painting is stunning. I also enjoyed that final clip with Jack leaping around to primal drum beats!
Haha thank you Kathy! Jack is always delivering on camera but he was extra athletic on this day 😂
Another fabulous video. Willie's accompanying music is lovely. I've never seen a live cherry tree. This was such a pleasure to see so many trees in full bloom. The blooms are spectacular and so many shades of pink and white. The countryside is beautiful with all the green fields and winding roads. There isn't a stream of water that Jack won't explore. His delight and exuberance of happiness brings me such joy. There isn't much I'm jealous of but the talent of a artist's ability to create such beautiful intricate masterpieces in paintings is one. Incredible painting you have once again created. 🥰🌻🐕🇺🇸
The cherry blossom are just beautiful ❤
The beautiful cherry blossoms remind me of walks with my grandmother around Washington DC. Thanks for the trip down memory lane as well as the beauty of all those areas. Jack is adorable as always. Awesome painting.
Aww that’s so lovely Debbie - glad I could bring back some nice memories 😊
Awesome day today, what beautiful blossoms!! Blessings
Thank you Jeanne! So glad you liked it 😊
Oh I just loved that so much! It's stunningly beautiful. I don't know which location or which type of blossom I liked best as they were all so beautiful. Jack was a joy to watch as usual. I loved to see him try to catch, chase, or eat the blossoms. Your painting is gorgeous. I will never cease to be amazed at how you can duplicate every delicate detail...in this case even the veins on the leaves and petals. I loved it all. Thank you very much! 😊
Aww thank you so much!! I couldn’t decide which one I liked best either so that’s why I had to include all three 😊
Such beautiful Cherry blossoms there. I did not know Scotland had some. Making the tree all pink looking. Jack is having so much fun in the streams. I'm always amazed at how detailed your paintings are, beautiful and outstanding.
Flowers are my favorite subject for art. Not a still life but the glowing vibrant movement of nature. Beautiful place and beautiful art.👌😊g
Aww thanks Wendy. For some reason I find flowers really difficult, but I’m trying to improve my technique. I did really enjoy this one 😊
Love the symbolism of cherry blossom ❤️🌸
That was a lovely video. The blossoms are stunning, if only they lasted longer! Jack really had fun, he is such a pleasure to watch 😀 Your painting, as always, is beautiful 🌸💗 x
Thank you Amanda!!
Magical! and Willie's music tops it off! Love the history too, not forgetting the painting! Thanks for the experience!
YAY ! ..a clean green Duck !
Cherry blossom blooms are one of my favourites. The painting is absolutely stunning, Sarah.
Ahh thank you Kevin! So glad you liked it 😊
Another beauty
Thank you so much!!
I loved seeing the beautiful cherry blossoms. The dovecot was cool. And your painting was absolutely beautiful. 🌸🕊
Thanks Penny!! So glad you liked it 😊
Love watching your videos, a mix of history, some beautiful scenery and wonderful painting and this one was no exception. You really found some beautiful scenes of blossoms on display, Dollar would have to be my favourite with the stream running between the blossom trees
Thanks Brett!! So glad you liked it 😊 I loved the stream at Dollar too. It makes the experience so much better!
Another wonderful video Sarah, so well filmed and edited. Where does Jack gets his energy!! Lovely music from Willie & great painting from you. Thanks.
Thank you John!! So glad you enjoyed it. I wish I knew where Jack gets all that energy - I could do with some of it haha!
I am already planning my next trip to GB. This time, I am going to spend the entire time in Scotland. I love watching you and DSOS. They are so, so soothing and your artistry is incredible.
Aww thanks Connie!! There are lots of lovely places in the rest of the UK, but I think Scotland is the most beautiful 😊
Lovely video, beautiful painting Sarah. Such talent. 👌
I absolutely love cherry blossoms, they're my favourite thing to see flower in the spring as they don't last for very long, there are a few pink cherry trees in my steeet, and across the road is lined the whole way with them, it's so nice to go walking underneath them when they're 'snowing' lol.
Beautiful painting of the blossom as well 😍 I always think the petals are like loads of folds if silk, you captured that texture perfectly.
Thank you for another lovely video 🤗
Aww thank you so much! I love the blossoms - the trees look so heavy with them, but they are so light and beautiful 😊
Ms. Sarah are you perhaps an art professor? If not, you should be! You are a superb teacher.
Aww thank you Tammara. I don’t think I would have the patience to teach, but I love sharing my tips on here 😊
Wonderful, I used to cut through a park walking to work with ornamental cherry trees and the fruits looked so inviting but I've never tasted something so bitter in my life😝
Yeah, they definitely aren’t grown for their fruit! We know of one tree locally that has nice tasting cherries, otherwise they are all ornamental. But very beautiful though!
The cherry blossoms are very beautiful, and the fresh green woods are also impressive.
Thank you so much for showing me a refreshing video.🌸🌸🌿🌿
Thanks! So glad you liked it. I loved the walk through the woods too - a nice contrast to the colourful blossoms 😊
Stunning . Really beautiful.
Beautiful! Not surprised to see a mention of the blossoms in Washington DC. The month long festival draws over a million visitors, which explains why I've not gone even though I only live a few hours away. Loved this quiet, personal tour much better!
Thank you Steven! Yes I much prefer going places where there aren’t big crowds of people. I think the Washington DC trees are supposed to be the biggest display of blossoms in the world, so no wonder they are popular!
I'm in awe when I watch you paint. You are so talented.
Aww thank you Lynn! So nice to hear that 😊
Wow Sarah, you really took me back in time there. Spent a lot of time wandering round Pittencrief Park back in the early '70s. I'm really lucky in that there are half a dozen cherry trees right outside my back door that produce some very nice cherries later in the year (as long as I can get to them before the birds). They don't produce as many blossoms as the ornamental ones but they do tend to be very popular with the wildlife later on. Loved the painting and Willie gave a masterclass in drone footage. As usual though Jack completely stole the show at the end with his version of the grand national🤣
Thanks Dave!! Jack was being extra athletic that day 😂 This was my first visit to Pittencrieff Park and I loved it. So much more to see than I could include here.
That was a beautiful walk thank you so much! The blossom s of spring are magical! 💕💙
Thank you Linda! So glad you liked it 😊
Suchskills with your painting Sarah. Beautiful. Another sanity saving walk, how can nature not be treasured by elements of the human race. Sue and Ian, Australia
Lovely walk as always Sarah, you never disappoint ! Thank you.❤️
Thank you Jane! So nice to hear that 😊
Beautiful watercolour ❤
Spectacular!!! As always very informative. And of course your pretty face and Jack’s shenanigans. Willie brings it all together with his superb drone footage and the soothing sounds of his magical strumming of his guitar.
Thank you Rose! So glad that you like our work on these videos 😊
Thank you! The blossoms are beautiful. Your painting is outstanding. Suzy AZ USA
Thank you Suzy!!
Another awesome walk with stunning scenery and Jack in and out of the water put a smile on my face, loved the whole thing. Then you get home and paint a very beautiful painting of the beautiful cherry blossoms. Take care and thank you for sharing. Off to watch Willie now 👍👏❤️😍
Thank you Chris! So glad you liked this one. Jack absolutely loves the water - impossible to keep him out (I less it’s a nice warm bath…)
Stunning!
That was a wonderful walk. I love all the many shades of pink in the blossoms. It almost looked like pink snow on the ground. I was very happy to see you using crossing stones when you were walking in the stream. Most young people here have no idea what crossing stones are (and they have no idea how to place them or use them). Thank you for the History lesson. What kind of tree was that with so many roots on top of the ground exposed. Jack had a wonderful time. He's such a good boy. Your painting is beautiful. Thank for this tour. It reminded me of times long ago.
Thank you Arvetta! I love going across stepping stones, although it’s much harder to keep your balance while filming as well!!
Stunning blossoms, enjoyed your walk & loved your painting! This gave me a real boost after a busy week.
Thanks Claire! That’s so lovely to hear 😊
So beautiful!
Oh my goodness i absolutely love your painting sarah , my 8 year old autistic grand daughter is called Blossom and your painting means so much to me , thankyou for painting it . Im going to purchase a copy from your etsy , you are so so talented sarah and i love your videos xx
Aww that’s so lovely Donna! What a beautiful name for your granddaughter 😊🌸
Thanks.
You are welcome! Glad you liked it 😊
Thanks for the tour and the painting!
You are very welcome! So glad you liked it 😊
Those roots of that mighty tree are truly a piece of natural artwork in themselves. So many! Reminds me of the driftwood forest on our coastal island. Whole cedar tress roots worn silver and rippled by the tides sweeping over them. I love Jacks face! We have a tree here that is a "fake cherry" and blooms like these in early April/May. But not as beautiful as the one you painted.
The tree roots were amazing!! Love it when they show through like that, but the tree is still thriving.
I love your country walks in smaller places. It is so spectacular. Also, your inspired
Thanks Sandra! I am trying to show a lot of different places in my videos - including the lesser known smaller ones 😊
Such an awesome sight thanks for sharing this
Thank you Joyce! So glad you liked it 😊
I've been to a few Carnegie libraries. One here in my California town is now the local museum. An almost identical one in my birth town in North Dakota is still the town library. Several others I've been fortunate to see are now other incarnations. ---Exquisite artwork, as usual.
Thank you Alana!! It was an amazing amount of money that he gave away - no wonder there are so many places named after him 😊
🌸beautiful
Wow that WAS gorgeous! Still catching up on your previous vids. That’s for the walk it was wonderful. Donna/Michigan/USA
Thanks Donna! So glad you are enjoying my videos 😊
Beautiful blossoms!
Thanks! We found some great spots 😊
Did I catch a new background song in this video?
In our city we have crabapples in lots of gardens and lining some main roads. The flowers range from light to much darker pink. There are also a smaller number of apple (white flowers with pink buds - I think I saw some in your video) and white-flowered ornamental pear. When they are all blooming is my favorite time of year! In addition to being beautiful, it also smells amazing!
Hi Shanna! Those blossoms sound beautiful! I actually prefer the more varied blossoms from apple, pear and cherry trees, although the pink ones are incredible too 😊
Hi Sarah,
If they're good enough for jack, that's good enough for me.
I wonder if one could extract essential oil from all those blossoms or make a wonderful tea, just a thought?
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Andrew Carnegie is a familiar name in my birth state of PA and where we live now in Ohio, near Cleveland.
Do the pink blossoms taste different than the white ones?
Good question Jan! I have no idea I’m afraid, but I’m guessing they must all have slightly different flavours, just like different types of cherries and apples etc. Apparently Sakura flavoured snacks are very popular in Japan around blossom season.
