The actual difference is not that. The difference is that the people of Dubai don't like The Flintsones... the people of Abu Dhabi DOOOO

Lol... I thought Dubai was the capital city all along. But yeah, I understand the frustration. It's like when we say we are from the Caribbean, we are all branded as Jamaicans. Love Jamaica but the Caribbean consists of so many other islands.
Dubai is more liberal very multi cultural and has a really good night life, abu dhabi is safer you'll find more locals and it's more religious.
I'm moving to Abu Dhabi for work in October in banking. As a Brit, I'm still learning all about the UAE, cultures and social life. Would you recommend anywhere / websites as to where I can meet fellow expats / social groups? Thanks!
Abu Dhabi expats is a good fb group to start with. But you'll find Abu Dhabi very comfortable and UAE in general.

I had a trip planned for Dubai. Some guy said “Dubai is over. Abu Dhabi is the future”. I didn’t think there was a difference.

They're pretty similarly priced. But depending on the location and what you want, Dubai can be way more expensive...

If you’re not familiar, The Flintstones was a TV cartoon from the 1960s. If you look it up I’m sure you’ll find the opening theme song. Listen to I what Fred yells when he hears the whistle to end work. Then you’ll get it.
