    Love the engine access. Brilliant! I think I like the open model better. I'm not a fan of the doors. I wish they were more nautical looking rather than looking like they were taken off my back patio. It may be the dramatic straight lines of the doors that bother me? I think they can do better. Something more original maybe? Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it very much.

    I'm glad you said that about the window being manual. I noticed that the window on the cockpit/lounge was on a gas strut. Too many things are electric now and can fail at any time. well said

    James, we really like the Targa 45 and think the finishes are superb. The bit that will stop musbuying one (apart from the money!) is still the engine access (pain in the a$$ to take out the tender every time) but more importantly it is the lack of any reasonable lazarette/storage area for all the crap you need (tools, spares, fenders, wetsuits/buoyancy aids/ringo, scooters/bikes, etc etc). I guess that is the price you pay for the aft cabin space….but for us the cabin is really just a place to sleep whereas storage for all the cruising bits and bobs is essential. Guess we’ll need a bigger one!!!

    • @Boatscouk
      @Boatscouk  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks Peter. There is a small hatch on the port side aft if you just need to do some quick engine checks. You don’t need to take tender out every time (luckily !)

    I think that this is a good Weekender for German Rivers. If you want to stay longer you need a Washing Machine. I haven`t seen the Place for it. To me Fairline can not reach the Princess Quality. Before I would spend 1 Million for a new Boat like this I would buy a preowned Princess and that would be the better Choice.

    Hi James....great Vlog... Honest, correct and ..... etc.... I love this one, always looked at Fairline, as to be honest Princess little bit out of the budget.... Fly Version preference, probably buy a used Fairline to start. Anyhow, thanks for your amazing tour... this one is great !!! And I hope you realise James...that I had to leave the Pre Christmas company in the house (as got a reminder on my phone) to watch this !!!! I said I had a work call, and yes ... it is actually a work :) We had intentions of sending you some Christmas socks (and of course a gift for your wife)...but never got around to it... On the plane would lurch violently you dare not move! So gave up on boats for a while. Back in now. What do I need? Will put it in Mallorca winter and Norway summer..maybe. Love the Princess s61 ish…..but wide open. Crucial is I don’t want a crew so need something easy to berth etc..you know. Welcome your thoughts as have enjoyed your vlogs.

    Another good video thank you James these are a nice boat but maybe looking a little dated now, especially that helm console. Interior volume still seems the major USP with this boat. I thought the length of a boat was the overall hull length and swim platforms were not included in the length of the boat unless the hull extends below it which is not the case with a submersible platform. So if u had a longer platform on this boat it would still be A 45

    It's a good layout, but I personally don't think the finish is on par with Princess.
    Had the pleasure of spending an extended weekend on a 45GT in June with some friends, and I must say I was surprised at the noise level while under way. I have been on the Princess V50 and we recently took delivery of our Azimut Atlantis 51 and yes, I know it's a 51 but still very similar overall. At cruise there's almost an 8 dBA difference at the helm station where I measured the Atlantis to 66 while we tested the 45GT to 73-74dBA.
    Just curious, but was the switch to Fairline from Princess because you wanted to represent a UK brand? Anyhow, great video guys, very detailed and sensible. Ace stuff.

    • @Boatscouk
      @Boatscouk  Před 2 lety

      Hi Ab - thanks for your comments . Princess and Fairline quality is both high- noise on hardtops is always more due to reverb of the hardtop and should be similar. Changed to Fairline as we were made an offer could not refuse 😎

    Really lovely BUT as in most boats, the back sunbathing area is a waste of space in our British climate as there appears to be no rear canopy. I have a 91 Princess Riviera and I can lay out the back in any weather. Great commentary though.

    Great video! But whats up with the bathing platform? Cant you get a bigger one with THIS 45 foot boat without going up in boatsize? Thats a bigger problem than engine access.

    • @Boatscouk
      @Boatscouk  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks Anders. A bigger platform means a 45 ‘ boat with less cockpit/ garage or it means a 47. I think it’s a good compromise. If you want a big platform it’s twice as big on the Targa 50 😊

    • @AB-80X
      @AB-80X Před 2 lety

      You have to consider that this boat was designed for the below 15 meter rules and slips. Yes adding a feet to the platform will not extend the hull and cause issues for those without Y3 or Y1 certificates, but you'd be surprised at how many marinas you'll not be able to dock for a weekend or moor your boat in, because of an extra foot or two. Yes many marinas have larger slips and spots, but they are fewer and you need to plan more in advance. So from that point of view, the 45 is a great size. At the end of the day, I'd rather have the narrow platform with proper interior space than a wide platform. If you want to do anything, there are some very good looking platform extenders you have have installed. Alternatively, they would have to make an electrical extending platform, but that will raise the price quite a bit. Remember that this is not a segment of boat where price does not matter.

    Even beneteau has these door locks. That might be the least impressive thing and it's more a shame that others don't have it. Otherwise it's quite a nice boat. You could also sit on the bed. It's nice they have storage instead. Who would sit down there anyways?
