    if you're a beginner almost any amount of riding will improve your fitness. zwift training plans are generally designed to keep you interested and motivated, but they're not very good at making you actually better. they're very high intensity - too high, imo -, which will burn you out and lead to a plateau soon. personally i prefer two high intensity sessions (e.g. intervals or a race) a week and three longer, easy Z2 (the blue zone) rides, which wont tax you as much.

      @stefs the ftp builder is similar to what you are describing, there was two intense workouts per week that were challenging, but still doable, and then there were two endurance zone 2 rides per week, with an optional recovery ride. Have you tried a specific plan that seemed too intense in your opinion? I'm going to try the build me up plan next and i have read what your describing that a lot of people where unable to complete some of the workouts on the last few weeks of the plan.

      I agree though, that as a beginner in Zwift, that it probably had a much greater effect on the results than if someone that has been riding on Zwift for a while.

    I got to week 5 of the FTP Builder, then got the cold from hell. 2.5 weeks later, I am trying to get my energy back up to finish my last week.

      I ended up taking an extra week or two to finish because of a cold too. You got this!

      Thanks, we are really enjoying it. We have three in our family that use it, so it's nice to have that quick adjustability.

      Hey justincycling,
      I plan on doing the multi sport mixer plan to help me get back into running. I am thinking the higher volume of exercises will also help with weight loss as well. I'm hoping to drop another 4 to 5 kg with that program to increase my watts/kg.
      What are your current goals and plans?

      @@sundtfam Interesting, haven't heard of the multi sport mixer plan. Is it on Zwift?
      My goals are to progress into B cat racing, and also some weightloss along the way.

      ​@@JustinCyclingyup it's in ZWIFT. It does require you to run and bike on the same day for most days of the week. Which was a bit of a challenge for me at first. The bike rides are designed to be harder and the runs are more light for recovery.
      I think moving into category b would be a goal of mine too. Good luck with your training!
