- The new 55W P2 laser cutter from xTool is yet another desktop CO2 laser, but it has some standout features that set it apart from the growing selection on consumer lasers. In this video I'll use the xTool P2 and it's unique 3D curve engraving features to create some custom table numbers for my sisters wedding. Combining the laser cutter with Arbortech's Mini Carver, I was able to produce some wonderful pieces that blend the organic look of hand carved wood with the absolute precision of laser engraving.

I like the idea of leaving the numbers unfinished so that they can be composted. But I'd still suggest properly finishing the one with their names on it, since they might want to keep it as both a memento and a decoration.
He could also just sell them afterwards.
@@achannelhasnoname5182 I reckon the marketing for methanie and fredrik might be be specific
@@lindonwatson5402 Methanie especially, don't come across that name too often
Wow they turned out so good! You even spelled Fredrik right 😂 The only problem is that 12 is the coolest so now I have to invite 20 more people to my wedding 😱
You can always skip a few numbers 🙃
this is the best channel ever seriously.
What a cool project! I love the use of natural materials and the fact that, after use, people have the option to repurpose them for compost or firewood.
Excellent work.
2:49 Come on Devin, you could have printed an adapter.
12:23 D'oh!
Great job as usual.
idea for another project using the P2: You know those clear acrylic panels with engravings on them that are edge lit so that the engraved areas light up? I'd like to see something like that, but multi-layered where each layer is lit with a different color. A simple example would be 3 layers, hills, clouds, and a background. The hills could be lit green, the clouds white, and then a blue background that's made of either just a printed blue background lit with white light or a frosted white background lit with blue light.
Oh yeah those are awesome! I also like when the layers are lit successfully to create an animation 🤔
I love what you did with the numbers on the pine, your sister has a good brother, happy wedding to her. Your programs keeps on going up a level every time I watch!
Ohh I love the end result, well done
That came out great.
Ah this looks like so much fun!!!
Prosumer laser cutters are finally coming into their own. Hard to resist the big plunge! $$$
Amazing combination of artistic talent, proficiency with power tools and tech savvy.
I don't know what your Sister will think, but I think these are wonderful. Congratulations.
Great Project and really nice and unique results! -Mark.
Dang those are awesome!
I thought weddings with lots of people were moments of the past. I learned something new.
could just be small tables
This project came out perfectly, the raw wood design was the right choice. The number panels remind me of the tea party scene from Alice in wonderland
Good job, Devin! I am looking forward to see ot in real soon! Friedy
I need to marry into Devin's family somehow so I can get awesome gifts too lol
I bought one of these, it's amazing.
Do you have the front and back dimension with the exhaust attached please?
Now you can revisited that skateboard engraving 😉
Haha true, it would go much better now 😂
Being in the er and severely sick can really make a person behind on uploads 😂 I’ll have to catch up
Oh no! Get well 🙏
@@make.anything it’ll be a long rod to recovery. Thank you! 😊
Cool
Hey. Laser engineer here. If you're going to skip the anti freeze, can I suggest a splash of alcohol (ethanol) at least, to make sure no bacteria etc grows in the water.
Hmm good to know! Would 91% isopropyl work?
@@make.anything Yeap! We would add vodka, but our engineer was russian...
@@make.anything A _drop_ of dish soap is nice too.
@@johnflux1 For bacteria too? Or?
For me you Will be the springo man for live
with this he could use cast acrylic, cut it to the shape from above, and then slap it on the rotary to get it springing lol
Question for you with regards to the acrylic. I noticed that you kept the paper ON while cutting, but when we tried that, the cut did not penetrate the paper. We then took the paper off, then cut the acrylic, and it worked. My question to you is: When the paper is left on the acrylic, do you select TRANSPARENT acrylic or do you select another type of acrylic to compensate for the paper appearance? Thanks.
I wonder if something like kinetic sand could be used to hold odd shaped pieces?
Man, I want one of these in my classroom but they aren't UL certified. My district will I ly let me get equipment that is. That rules out Bambu Lab printers as well. :-(
you should still add some of the anti freeze or some other product to the water to keep it from ionizing over time and grow algae
its destilled water
@@melaniemontes2624 it doesn't stay distilled. It goes through radiator, pump, couplings, pipes, all of which slowly change the water's properties and eventually turns it into non-distilled water
True 😊
🔥💕👍
Good morning . I would like to know if you use Windows 11 to work with p2; For my part when I use Windows 11, the machine stops when I burn with the default electrical connection air pump. I tested with an old Windows 10 computer, which is very slow, the machine works very well without problems. Maybe you could help me. THANKS. Happy Holidays
Can we get some making balisong(butterfly knife) tutorial?
Welp, little out of my budget lol... I’m just gonna stick to diode lasers
