If you reverse the live and neutral incoming conductor will the compressor still work ?, At college we were taught to always place the live line conductor through the protector / overload to the common on the compressor.

Hi Vinod, we suggest following the specific wiring diagram for a particular compressor. If the manufacturer specifies using both a start capacitor and a run capacitor that is what should be followed in terms of the installation/wiring for a compressor.
