      +User Name this is the first chopin song that most pianists ever learned, usually around age 7 haha (some people say that in their competition interviews, actually), and so it's very, very overplayed, and people may be sick of hearing it - or think there isn't that much depth/musicality left to bring out of it.

      I agree. This piece may be easy for this competition’s standard but this is the best I have heard anybody play it. His emotion and style is astonishing to say the least.

      Yes, he can certainly play all the notes, but I’m nothing more than an accomplished pianist and I can play all the notes of this piece too. It’s his tonal control and selection that makes this a real standout. Great stuff.

      From what I've read, Chopin hated rubato almost as much as he hated improvisational ornamentation etc. Chopin on Liszt jazzing up his nocturnes: "keep that pig out of my garden."

      Her Chopin, Liszt and Beethoven are a beautiful audio and visual experience.

      @@mehmet9931 I also loved her newest? Performance after a break from videos?, Concerts? of the Beethoven's beautiful Pathetique Sonate.
      She seems to have come back with new strength, maturity, even a new short haircut, explaining in her, as always warm announcement it hindered her with Beethoven, one can see it in her great "Appassionata" Sonata, her long hair flying all over.

    How wonderful to watch this man understand and feel each note, each phrase, and try to play as the composer intended. He has worked hard to attain and play the perfect interpretation of this piece.

      how do you know what the composer intended? Also the phrase "pefect interpretation" dosent seem to make much sense. Interpretation is subjective therefore it cant be objectively perfect. Yes it can be better than other interpretations but only if you compare them by the same set of rules and rules by nature are limiting, which should be taken into account

      ​@@muodyadept4447 we know what the composer intended. Chopin did not want anyone to hear or play this piece, he wanted it destroyed. It was published posthumously against his wishes.

      Giuseppe Malcangio Maybe at some stage of his life he came to hate it but remember that wasn't always like that, he was filled with imagination and passion when he wrote this piece, this piece is a product of fantasy not hate.
      Chopin was ashamed of some of his creations because he felt he had stolen from other composers, that happens to every composer once in a while.

      Well, even chopin is ashamed for this piece, but for me, he success to made this piece for go higher in different stage from the form his inspired from "Moscheles and Beethovent formation" in an excellent cadenza and a really good emotion. :3

      He didn't hate the piece, he actually really liked it. It resembled another impromptu created by a person he admired, but because Chopin's was better, he didn't publish is so that the other guy didn't get ashamed or offended.

    Incredible playing! I think this is the best interpretation I have ever heard of this piece. Anybody who thinks this is an easy piece just lacks understading of piano music.

    my favourite cover of fantaisie impromptu. So clean, not too loud, eveyrthing is so smooth and perfect. I believe it's the way chopin would have likes it to be played. I also like the fact that this guy is not moving too much while playing, entirely focus on his play and feeling it, like hes not overdoing it

      기본적으로 손가락도 그렇고 타고난 부분은 못 따라가죠..ㅋㅋ
      16분음표 연달아 나오는 부분들도 그렇고 맨뒷부분 손목 릴렉스 시키면서 정말 물흐르듯 연주하기 정말 어려운데 연습을 어마어마하게 많이 한 것도 있겠구요..ㅎ

      To be fair if you're playing Fantasie Impromptu in a prestigious international competition, there's only so many things you can do to stand out. One is making sure you don't make even a single mistake, the other is being as visibly "expressive" as you possibly can...

    온 몸으로 선율을 느끼면서 연주하는게 보여요.. 대표적으로 중간에 보이던 표정 변화.. 손가락 하나하나에 감정을 담아서 실어 보내네요.. 단 한 번의 공백 없이 물 흐르듯 자연스럽고 부드럽고 편안한 선율이 너무 좋아요ㅠㅠ

    He has amazing wrist navigation! I just love the fluidity of his fingers, hand, wrist & elbow when he plays the Largo section. To me, he seemed just a little nervous, or maybe he moves so quickly that his fingers appear to quiver; however, he still performs brilliantly! His facial expressions are perfect!

    Simply amazing..!! His individuality is everywhere, and that's what I like about his performances. However, some judges might not have liked it; they tend to go after more conventional interpretations. Nevertheless, I consider him as one of the brightest young pianists today, and I can see a great career ahead of him. Bravo, Dima!

    This young man is truly a Master of the piano! His playing touches all of my emotions. I wish he were in concert close to Ironton, Ohio someday soon so I could hear him in person.

      맞습니다. 정박으로 정확하게 들어가야 아름다운 선율이 나오는데 즉환은 피아니스트가 친것도 왼손오른손끼워넣기가 너무많습니다.

    His musicality and interpretation of this piece is so good that it's like I can hear vocalists or strings behind it. It's the weirdest sensation. I've never heard that with another performer before. It's strange but absolutely incredible.

    My piano teacher used to say that if you get bored of a masterpiece because it’s overplayed then you’re not listening hard enough. In other words the problem lies with the listener, not the work.

    There are people who think this improvisation is the best. I agree with that. Dmitri Shishkin can safely perform a huge performance and I get goosebumps whenever I see the lacampanella he played.

    supposed to be TOO emotional and sentimental, but his performance makes this song softer wider in a gentle & a delicate way, for me, it's the best performance of this song. I could feel very relaxed while listening to this emotionally violent song.

    Great rendition.! One of the best I've ever heard so now. I liked the change he made in two measures. Counting from the end to the the beginning....they would be the number 13 and 14. He marked accents on Mi and Do sharp , instead of only Do sharp. This changed everything and now I can understand the melody that is hidden among these chain of semiquavers. I love this version, rendition and tecnique...

    Incredible control of the sound...in the coda portion the right hand faded smoothly into the an almost inaudible sound. I didn't realize it was possible to play notes so quickly but so quietly on the piano.
