I have the player plus hss with the noiseless and rolled edges. I held one of these player II's today and the rolled edges didn't feel as pronounced as the player plus.
In the same boat. Those look great but I don't need one. Already have a 2012 Fender MIM Standard Strat in my favorite color Midnight Wine that's in mint condition and Player Tele in butterscotch blonde with a black guard that I got new last year. And just a few weeks ago I got new Squier Fiesta Red CV strat that's crazy good so I have no actual fear of missing out on Player II. I might be tempted come Christmas time though. A chambered hog tele with a rosewood fretboard sounds pretty sweet. There's also a black Player II Mustang with a rosewood fretboard that's very tempting. Very.
Similar boat, have the Player Plus top the gentlemen has in this video and recently got a custom shop strat. But those Player II rosewood teles look tempting at that price.
Hello Joe, thank you for the video I really enjoyed it. I,m thinking of buying one of these mim first version, as you said the used market will be busy for them for sure. However I like the tone of rosewood so might consider the ii as well. Will see
I have a 2020 Plyer plus top aged cherry HSS. I wouldn't mind putting one of the Player II necks on my guitar when they become available. The rolled edges and slightly more aged look is interesting. I put Fender locking tuners and a Graphtec nut on my guitar which will be installed on the new neck.
If you prefer rosewood fretboards, the Player 2 is definitely an upgrade. Was never a fan of Pau Ferro. On the flip side, I don't like vintage tuners. Luckily, I'm not in the market for a new Fender.
Probably sound very similar, playability and looks probably is the selling point. Could just be a way to keep the prices of guitars high, discontinue the older stuff.
Nuts, those prices. If I can get a fender for 400 bucks or so, I'll be happy. Until then, I'll just stick with cheap guitars for under 200 bucks. The market is suppose to be flooded with guitars, they don't cut prices on them anymore?
I have a Player Plus telecaster with rolled fretboard. I fell in love with the feel immediately.

Short, sweet and to the point. Thanks, Joe
Thanks for the no-nonsense comparison, AJ. I'd love to find an affordable, low-mileage, Series One plus top in the price range you mentioned!
Thanks Rob. Hope you had a great 4th!

Thanks for this, really useful video. There are lots of videos on the Player II series but can't find any other Player I/II comparisons.

Thx Joe, keep’em coming!!
The
Problem is when I get these guitars, I don’t have Joe’s talent and I still sound like me.
