      Don’t be afraid to use a razor blade for spots. I prefer using Bio Cleaner and a non-scratch sponge than using Weimar glass cook top cleaner although I do also use it occasionally.

    With a little care and elbow grease, all 700 things you own can be kept looking new. Which is great for centipedes with 200 elbows, but not so great for the rest of us.

    Seems stupid to make stoves which can’t tolerate many normal types of pots and pans without any great tradeoff…. Like, if this would be permanently clean and never need cleaning, the I could see why you would give up some of your favorite pots and pans. But no, as far as I can see, there are no positives to such a stove at all. Are there?

    I have carefully followed all of these techniques for cooking and cleaning. Yet, it never looks right. The wipe streaks remain after cleaning despite using the recommended "elbow grease" in the video. I spend 10-15 minutes cleaning this cooktop when I need to resort to using it. I have started purchasing small countertop appliances that help me avoid using the cooktop, especially for frying foods. I had a GE Profile Series cooktop for 20 years. I wanted to upgrade and I regret my decision. Listen carefully to the video. Might, may, should are sprinkled throughout the instructions. I really wish I could trade it in just because of the surface. Not sure if it is the same for the gray or the other color but the black mirror is a nightmare.

      Hi Kathleen, I have the same problem with my cook-top, and I really wish I never bought it. I'd say the best thing to do is to just get a different cook-top. Electric cook-tops are much better, I can barely cook on my ceramic one, and it really breaks my heart that I can't make my 15 year old daughter lunch for school because there's a fine line between overcooked and undercooked when I use the cooktop.

    I hate my black-mirrored countertop. If I could get a trade-in to a better surface top I would. This is a Profile series cooktop. I use ALL recommended products for cleaning and cooking. I want my old pebbled-surface Profile Series cooktop back. GE - I love the burner arrangement and capacity but I HATE the surface. It is not even a year old and I am seriously considering replacing it. EPIC FAIL.

    • @kathleensmoot977

      2 incident numbers were issued 170412-0044327 / 170413-002423. BTW look carefully at your video and look at the surface of the cooktop AFTER the cleaning has occurred. You can see the faint discoloration (staining) on the surface at the outer edges of the burner that was just cleaned. I have that staining on mine perhaps just a bit more obvious. My husband is 91 (I am considerably younger). He decided to fix a grilled cheese sandwich. He cleaned up afterward was distressed because he could not get the wipe marks and the staining cleaned off. He felt terrible. I told him to relax - it's not you. Just for the record, I am not an OCD crazy cleaning person. My house is clean but reasonably untidy. I don't stress over fingerprints. What I don't like is the impression that my new appliance looks damaged. All of my kitchen appliances were replaced between 2012-2016. All of the built-in appliances were 20 YO GE Profile Series. Because of that track record, I decided to replace them with GE Profile Appliances. In fact, the refrigerator that I replaced was over 30 () years old but I wanted all new stainless steel appliances so that was my first replacement. We moved the old one to the garage and it is still running.
      I have pictures of the burners on the new cooktop.

    I strongly disagree with those of you who dislike the induction cooktop! I have a Samsung and researched what kind to buy thoroughly. I love my cookware bought from Amazon and cook daily! I bought it 3 years ago and it looks brand new today because I take care and respect it. There are woks available on Amazon for induction stoves. This stove is the most energy efficient, easy to keep clean, cooks fast and it is very dependable. Can’t think of anything negative to say about it. I’ve had both gas and electric and couldn’t wait to upgrade my kitchen to buy this! I don’t see what any of you are complaining about. My neighbor just remodeled her kitchen and has one also. I’ve had big parties and every burner was being used........do not understand what the problem is. It’s worth every cent I paid for it! And it was rated very high by consumer reports!

    • @60gregma
      @60gregma Před 3 lety +8

      This is not an induction cooktop. It's radiant heat. It's basically a traditional burner, with a tempered glass top and the burner sealed underneath. People who don't like them, don't understand them. They have been around for more than 50 years, but require maintenance. You have to clean them after each use, or they will become unsightly. They look sleek and attractive when people see them in the showroom, but when they get them home, they find out they require a commitment to keep them looking new. That is a turn-off to some who don't want to clean the stove after every use. Induction cooktops are different. They heat the pan with magnetic pulses. The glass stays relativity cool because the magnets are heating the pan, not the cooktop.
