    It would be awesome to see actual light placement and such. We see all these kits on Amazon (some of which you also have on B&H), but we don't know how to set up which light where, etc.

    Is it recommended to use log gamma curves for chroma keying work or a 10bit 422 rec709 is enough ?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  Před 4 lety +1

      Much depends upon the subject and the detail you want to capture. 10-bit 4:2:2 rec 709 will work fine. Be careful with your lighting and exposure and the texture of your green screen. >Mark

    can I use the green screen indoors with natural light from outside ?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  Před 7 lety +1

      You would need to light the green screen. It would be extremely difficult achieving uniform consistent lighting across the screen while attempting to use ambient light from outside. *Christina* AskCZcams@bhphoto.com

    Whenever I think of a chroma key, I think first of the weather reporter on your local news. I've seen their setup done in two ways... One with them about six feet in front of the wall/curtain/backdrop so they can appear to look behind them at the map but also to make sure they don't cast a shadow. Makes lighting the background fairly straightforward. The second, with them right up against the wall explicitly to capture the shadow and give the appearance that they are, in fact, in front of an actual map. Much tougher to light both the background and the subject correctly without everything ending up flat. (Of course, then they will actually touch the wall and that means you also have the problem of their hands leaving dirt and oil on the wall over time.) Distance, I think, is a bit subjective, depending on what you're trying to accomplish. Of course, there are other problems to contend with as well, such as the idiot who gets clever and decides to wear an orange tie (or blouse) on Halloween and ends up with a hole in their chest because it keys out. Seen it many times! ;)

  • @egeozsoy
    @egeozsoy Před 8 lety +10

    I don't think enhancing the green background makes any difference, if the pixel values are there, a chrome keyer will do its job no matter what imo

    • @ChistopherMoonlight
      @ChistopherMoonlight Před 8 lety +9

      You're absolutely right. Color correcting before pulling your key can actually create more issues within your subject. Further more, I have no idea why they would encourage people to color correct a section of their green screen so far away from their subject, where creating a garbage matte is so much more efficient.

    how do you get proper lighting on a budget?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  Před 3 lety +2

      There are plenty of options for lighting on a budget, but that's going to depend on the size of the green screen. We invite you to contact us via Live Chat on the B&H website today until 8PM ET so we can go over your options in greater detail.

    I would encourage anyone who has watched this video to explore what a garbage matte is, before wasting time color correcting sections of their green screen, so far away from their subjects. In practice, color correcting your green screen can be detrimental to your overall key, if you don't know exactly what you're doing.

    Does anyone know why wearing BLACK in front amid a green screen looks bad? Any item that’s black actually.

    • @BandH
      @BandH  Před 3 lety

      If the subject wearing black doesn't have enough light on them, that could cause an issue with the keying process.

    Lmfao although a good starting video notice they were using a $10,000 camera and they had to use Davinci Resolve lol. I can pull a chroma key inside Vegas Pro keyer with my home made dollar store green table cloth glued to a large cardboard piece green screen. Notice he did not mentioned clothes colours which is one of the most important issues with chroma keying!!!!!. Stay away from wearing yellow green mix colours. Even though in Fusion this is easily pulled with Ultrakeyer and a garbage matte. So many applications these days this is not the 90's anymore and it shows that Hollywood no longer controls the access to these tools and good riddance.
