I’m an SKC fan. You’re not allowed to jump within 1 meter of an opposing throw in, I believe. The FC Dallas guy was within his right to do that.
@@RonaldoSwizzbeats He was not within his right to do that. You are not allowed to deliberately violently strike a person with the ball in that way regardless of whether they are encroaching on the restart or not. If the player is encroaching on the restart, it is up to the referee to caution that behavior, but it does NOT give you the right to huck the ball at his face point blank. The referee should have been on top of the behavior immediately and ordered the player back, and if he didn't immediately back up, caution him. By letting him do it without being aware of the situation and intervening the referee invited the subsequent misconduct. But it is still misconduct whether the referee could have done better to prevent it or not.
@@BTheBlindRef I guess you’re right, however the ref needed to stop play as soon as Bassong began jumping within 2 yds of the thrower. None of this would have happened if the encroachment was immediately enforced.

Horrible refereeing tonight. She completely lost control and just didn't want to book Dallas players for identical fouls that were yellows for SKC.
Bassong and Arriola both deserved to be sent off at the end, but of course it was only Bassong.
Yeah, that's incredible. Of course they both deserved send-offs. I know the player was encroaching on the throw-in, but you can't deliberately smash the ball into his face like that. That's an easy one. It's a caution for failing to respect the required distance on the throw-in and a caution + send-off for the retaliatory body check, but it has to be a send-off for violent conduct for striking the player with the ball in the face as well. This is basic refereeing stuff.

@@BTheBlindRefFrom any distance there’s no rule against throwing the ball at an opposing player’s head. That’s just one of the risks you take when you do that. I think it was just all around a stupid play that makes mls look bad however.
@@RonaldoSwizzbeats it is literally something we are trained on. It is illegal. You may not use excessive force or violent conduct even in the course of normal play, and delibately throwing a ball into someone's face is excessive force and is a send off. You can not like it all you want, but we are literally trained with clips of things like this and told by the people making the rules that it is a send-off.
