  • такъв е животът Life as it was in Bulgaria for the 'new Bulgarians' The final episode.
We were invited to participate in a Bulgarian television series called Takuv E Zhivotut - The New Bulgarians in 2007, a series about life in Bulgaria and this particular series was focused on foreigners who had chosen Bulgaria as their home.
In 2008 the series makers made a second series revisiting some of the people who participated in the first series; this is our story.
Special thanks to all those who took part, and also to Super Nova Media for such an amazing series which we thoroughly enjoyed taking part in.

Our children didn't believe us either when we told them we were coming here. "They've been talking about it for years and nothing ever happens!"
They were quite surprised when it finally did happen!

It's very difficult having all the time in the world to spend with family/friends but not be near enough to actually do it.

I am a mother of 2 daugthers myself and I totally undestand you. I would feel the same as you. Thats why I would never move. If they moved, I'd move closer to them. But if you feel sad and homesick, and force yourself into this, then it is not an adventure, but torture. It is never late to go back to your children and parents, cause obviously they miss you too.

Thank you for your thoughts. The best solution would be for our family to come and live with us in Bulgaria as then they would get to see us and the sunshine too. 🙂

@TheNewBulgarians That would be perfect, and they would be very welcome to Bulgaria.

Just found your channel from your post on Silke's channel. Lovely home! Can't wait to settle in over there myself, although I understand the feeling of missing your home country. Being American, there are so many things that I love about living here, especially in the beautiful Southeast (NC weather and landscape is very similar to BG's), but it's just so expensive here. And, the noise of the media and general division created by our govt is on the brink of being quite dangerous. Honestly, I'm afraid.

Sorry Futurekron, I thought I had replied, but don't see it here. Thank you for commenting, and good luck with your move over from the US. Quite a big move, I can totally understand your reasons, but it's a shame to feel that way.

I suppose in the excitement of prepping for a new life you dont really consider the impact of missing family and friends and how gut wrenching it is.

I think it was very easy to be caught up in the moment and the adventure/excitement of it all. We had a big family/friends party before we left, but didn't at all consider the bigger impact.
Also the physical pain we felt when our family left after a holiday with us, but we soon settled back down to life and the holidays were real quality time that we just don't get here in the UK not living close to our family still.

Sometimes it's the children that move away, like in our case. It takes a while to get used to it but hey! with modern technology they are never really too far away for a FaceTime or WhatsApp chat. Yes, Not quite the same, but travel is also not difficult for a bit of quality time. I think the main thing is knowing both sides are doing fine...for both sides sake 👍

Yes that's very true about the children moving away. We are thankful for being able to communicate easily with modern technology. Our children are doing great now which is all we could want for them.
