This is my first time trying to do something like this, and I decided to go for a long-form style highlight video because I felt that a shorter video wouldn't do this stream justice.
I'll try to have his other two Super Mario RPG streams edited in a reasonable amount of time.
I can't believe he just deleted Ralf's save file without a second thought.

i honestly really love jerma's voices. i hate how everytime he does a silly voice for a character chat bullies him into changing it.
i like how in recent times he just doesnt change it LOL he just does it anyway like in everhood i love when he does shit just to piss off chat cuz they are abunch of crybabies and i love knowing they are there seething while hes having a great time. whenever he addresses an insult everyone says "DONT LISTEN TO THEM" and stuff so im gona hope and pray he knows the majority loves him and his characters or we wouldnt have been here this whole time

"fun" fact about geno: Square has ALL the rights for this character so using him is a legal nightmare for nintendo.
He was also supposed to be a defected magikoopa but they changed it last second. That's why he is the least fleshed out character in the game

1:40:29 - I mean Disney practically wrote the book on copyright law with lobbyists and fundamentally shaped the way these massive organization treat their intellectual property. The world would probably be a dramatically different place if Micky Mouse never existed.
I like how this 1996 game figured out the Mario v Bowser trope was overdone as hell and speedran it, then made both him and the princess straight up party members later on
also, god classic SquareSoft sound design was so tight - every sound effect in this game, ff6, ff7, chrono trigger - all iconic and memorable
My favorite part about the entire opening bit is that changing the name of the save file has nothing to do with what they call Mario in the game at all.

I think what I appreciate most about this game is how funny it is - almost every single line is used well for some kind of joke or memorable quip.
the Psychopath 'hp checker' ability even had unique references from the era of Japanese pop culture - which didnt quite make it through translation unfortunately, so they ended up becoming nonsense. Woolsey was on a deadline
Probably not fun fact: SMRPG remake will likely have a more faithful translation so say goodbye to Mallow's ability being called Psychopath (it is called "What do you think?" in Japanese)

Concerning level up bonuses
There's always one option that gives you a bigger boost per level than normal. So that's the one that you always wanna get.
The little zoom-in on the developers was absolutely INCREDIBLE

Jerma and I did the same thing with our items and level ups! I always chose the HP up and only loaded my inventory with Pick-Me-Ups (probably with a few royal syrups, too). It always worked well enough, since this game is so easy, so I never bothered to change strategies. Funny to find someone else who did this.

Cant believe I missed Jerma streaming this for so long. This game is one of the best, and it’s a shame there haven’t been many other rpgs to emulate what it has to offer.
The Mario Luigi Rpg Saga series are better IMO
Dragon Quest, especially the older ones, are kinda similar in nature. Just without Mario and less comedy (though not none). Highly recommend the series either way, DQ6 and DQ9 especially, but they are all good
Paper Mario is the spiritual successor to Mario RPG. In fact it was originally gonna be called Super Mario RPG 2.
@@Starman256 not only was it originally called that, it was still being called that during production on the N64 DD beta. Until Nintendo and Square Enix had its falling out in 2000 and it got reworked into a normal cartridge game. It’s funny you mention that though, I’ve been replaying Paper Mario with my gf, and I’m really enjoying it.
That said I can’t wait to get to TTYD as that’s one of my favorite games of all time.
