I dunno man. Playing this game unprofessionally with loads of button mashing is insanely fun, sending your foes flying and watching herculine feats. I don’t even watch anime that much and this shit’s insanely awesome.

The comments here seem to be more about justifying one’s love for anime and less about objective analysis over the reviewer’s report card.
I mean... There were plenty inconsistencies in the guys review. He very clearly mistook why people play these types of games (thinking players wanted that sick nasty fanfiction story mode when I feel confident in saying about 75-85% of people were just gonna get the game and play with their friends)
It's like Smash Ultimate... There is single player content... but everyone knows smash as a fun multiplayer setup. Jump Force looks like it needs hella polish... Fair enough, but isn't this the same company making bank off reviews from games the reviewed played like 1/4 of. He makes it apparent this is not his cup of tea from the get-go and it felt biased once he let that info out.

Jump Force is pretty fun but man the story is such a missed opportunity.
The opening hour is very cinematic and everyone is voiced. Passed that, the game quickly devolves into "Read a boat load of text while we introduce your favorite characters in the most generic missions you've played since J-Stars".
It's like they used up all their budget very early on.. I mean Light Yagami is fully voiced in one cutscene but Ryuk in that same scene has no lip syncing and no voice so you're left going "WTF are those subtitles coming from Ryuk?" as you hear absolutely nothing.
Very mediocre attempt aside from the gameplay/visuals.
That's the problem with most of these 3D arena anime fighters, they can be as mediocre as they can be but sell well because of fanservice. The fact that Jump Force is supposed to be the biggest one of the bunch and came out even more disappointing than the others is just sad.

As a way of telling you without spoiling everything... Light is just as "ambitious" in this game as he is in the anime and he acts on that ambition. Unfortunately, without a Death Note he doesn't actually DO anything as he isn't an actual playable or fightable character.

I agree , the loading time is SO DAMN LONG !! It takes at least 1-2 mins to go into a fight and then once it’s over it’s another 1-2 mins of waiting. And when it comes to battling friends or random people , there should be a rematch button instead of ‘Watch replay’ ‘Save Replay’ and then ‘End Match’ there should be a rematch button OR make an option to have an endless battle like xenoverse.
This game has some of the worst animations in cutscenes of current gaming.
Even Andromeda looks better than this.

Tbh, you shouldn't dock points from jump force because it isn't in English Dub. Bandai would literally have to get the license from all the animes to have permission to dub them which is something that would literally take forever to do as getting licenses to dub anime isn't an easy task.
Dubs are never English anyway, they're always American OTT drama queens. I never chose "English" 'cos it's always American Hollywood style shite.

That's actually awesome to see. IGN has been pretty heavily criticized for their reviews being basically just advertisements for a while.
If you're expecting a story in these games you're gonna be disappointed. This game is for people who've seen the animes and love to fight with the characters online. The story is just an extra little thing thrown in there. Don't I repeat DON'T get this game mainly for the story/singleplayer it's nonexistent. DO however get it if you want to play online using the characters from the animes you like

Plop Plop anime is known for their stories but this isn’t an anime episode, it’s an anime arena fighter. Games like this don’t tend to have stories so I really don’t understand why people would expect it here
My main complaints are the inconsistent frame rates and the health bar being tied to all 3 characters instead of 1 bar per character. It's still a solid game overall. Hopefully Bamco and friends are developing patches to fix all the issues.

Personally... .they should have just made a really amazing anime game using this same combat system and graphical style. just more in depth with rpg elements etc.... a fulll fledged single player experience because the gameplay indeed is flashy fast paced fun

- You're misunderstanding my point. The point was in the later stages of the game, AI opponents can do a single, armored move, and blow up nearly half your health. Not that your average basic combo does half your health.

Also elements to me felt like fake depth. An extra system that serves to convolute things while not actually adding any depth.
After all the amazing warriors we have seen over the years I can't wait to see what the new generation of of anime and manga heroes are going to be like.

Stealthblazer Games most people don’t really get fighting games for their campaign, the only one i’d say had an alright story was mortal kombat 9. Plus Fighterz had a trash story but the multiplayer is really nice.

theNameisLink it’s not even the story. The presentation is lazy. Combat is repetitive. Animations are stiff(even tho it looks great during combat, why didn’t at least do that for the story mode?). If people only play for online, this game would die within two months because they really rushed this game.

I thought it’s a cool game to see my favourite manga heroes and villains duking it out together in a style that I quite like. The gameplay is fun (obviously not as complex as other fighting games). But complexity isn’t what it’s for, it’s a game of celebration and homage to the Shonen Jump franchise

Jump force isn’t meant to be something like Mortal Kombat or tekken if you think you’re going to get a combo breaker with anime you’re wrong. Plus that’s the charm about it, it’s different.

Great idea? It's not exactly the most inventive idea, to just put characters from loads of different anime and fight. It's been attempted several times and it never ever works because the developers are clueless about fighting games. J-Stars on the DS was the only borderline decent J Stars game.

I have a few problems with Jump Force. The gameplay can get frustrating at times when the AI combos you constantly and then becomes a block not. The games story not having voice acting is really, really frustrating because the point of the game is seeing different characters interact with each other. I wanted to see Asta and Deku comparing their stories to each other. I wanted to see Gon and Yusuke chat about fighting. I wanted to see and hear the different characters interact more then just staring at each other, looking lifeless. The games loading screen length is annoying as well. The roster is way to small for a anniversary game. There are at least half a dozen series that should have made it in and didn’t.
So is it better to play this if I haven’t played J Stars
