    I’ve never seen any CZcams care so much about their watchers that they go into so much extra effort, especially for a tutorial, for any game ever. Making the floor plans, to saying sorry for the mistakes and owning up to it, to sending out your save file and having it all nice in one place on a website. It’s admirable. Good Job man! I appreciate you! Love the content!

    You were right, my eyes were glazing over a little bit the last 2 episodes. But that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy watching them! I just switched my frame of mind to watching you build a really cool looking building while skimming over the details. I appreciate all your efforts to make these videos as high quality as they are! I'm loving the series 😎

    good to know you're the kind of guy that admits and owns up to his mistakes, my one problem with the last 2 episodes was you made such a massive build and set up all for simple coal power in a series meant to be a guide, the fact you apologized and admitted your mistake is honestly heartwarming, i can understand how it would be super easy to fall into the "big build big ideas" mindset as a veteran of this game
    though thats not to say your videos are lost, ill definitely reference them and possibly use the frame of the build in my own future save, the frame is perfect for the chosen terrain and your tips on the water extractors is pretty good and handy

    I would love to see a dedicated video of how you plan out all of these factories. I tend to follow along pretty closely because I find it hard to plan it all out or know where to start in the process. I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking it would be a great help, at least I hope I’m not.

    WIll all due respect, most of the time I played factorio, I redid my previous build to manage space. When I got robots, I converted factorio from a resource management game to a space management game. Satisfactory has another dimension to manage in it. And that's why its fun. So, no need to apologize, you are making great content and keep it that way.

    Great episode. Much appreciation for the detailed look at where you laid the 'cornerstone' this time, as well as quick shots about where a line of foundations should end. It was very easy to get started. I think your statement about walk before you crawl was spot on. It took me just a couple hours to build this compared to a week for the last one. Another suggestion: based on the fact that this a beginner series, and we don't need to watch tem all sequentially, maybe a reminder or two during the course of the video about HOW to copy buildings or settings. You do mention the 'Rule of Two' a lot, so a quick reference to the other basics would reinforce it for us beginners.

    Thank you so much for taking time to make these: how to -videos. I haven't played too much Satisfactory ( 300-400hrs) and usually I have problems with.. lets say everything. Watching you to build everything from ground up and explaining your thought process helps me to understand the game more. And top of all that, you are quite entertaining. Would be nice to see you do this live( with your mistakes(if you make them) and all).

    Hey, absolutely loving your series and builds, great work!!!
    Also one thing, there are few mergers and spliters which aren't required (for example here at : 57:15 ) because you can connect belt to merger next to it just to save some resources...
    But I agree it looks good if everything is similar

    You can actually put formulae into the machine overclock number, so if you wanted 1 and 1/3 per minute just type in 4/3 and it'll set it to 133.33333%

    I built a modular frames factory in this spot too, the 8 nodes give you 240 ore p/m which you can turn into 10 frames p/m with no waste. So satisfying when the ratios work out like that, you just ahve to split one of the smelter outputs between an iron plate constructor (run at 50%) and an iron rod cosntructor. And make 180 screws p/m which means 1 of the 5 cosntructors runs at 50%. So you end up with 8 assemblers, 3 on reinforced plate and 5 on frames. Thanks for the inspiration, I used tips I've seen from a few of your vids. I've also built the mega coal factory on this save too :D

    Great factory, i also a looped iron plates + screws from the containers to another assembler to a corner near storage containers for reinforced plate production & then looped it back to the storage containers (adding extra towards the smelter) to have those covered as well. Screws and plates build in such an excess that this felt really good. Appreciate the video, cheers!

    This really is a lot of work to produce these vids. Quick building tip: don't split iron ingots going into iron rods, instead just build a smelter for each rod constructor and underclock. This saves a little power and makes building simple.

    It is good to see the mistakes and the solutions. Even if you are following along with a play, mistakes are going to be made and needed to be solved. Problem solving is a necessary skill and if you have a perfect play, then you don't see how to solve a problem when it inevitably happens. The truth is, we learn more from our mistakes than our successes. This is especially true for beginners, where problem solving is a skill that should be learned early on so that when that person back themselves into a corner, they know how to get out of it.

    Just for your concerns - I had the game bought for a few years now and never touched because there was too much stuff I didn't know how to address. With the update 8 I found your video and that was a great, no-nonsense play along. It allowed me first: do a quick automation at start with biomass (i wouldn't ever get the idea of running and gathering grass), how to automate, how to build, use inventory, use upgrades and so on. It was sometimes overwhelming (it took a while initially to understand how are you able to put many foundations at a time or mass delete), but never too much. Now im more or less up to speed and I understand what's up. With my limited time for gaming it is exactly what i need to make it through and have fun, and then to have resources and understanding to do my own stuff.
    And errors are required, especially after you give a proper explanation and reasoning. Errors helps to learn. I still think though you made way too high floors, and that the transport network should be hidden, but that is just because I understood what's that about ;)

    This guy deserves way more subs than he has. The amount of work going into these episodes, both on camera and behind the scenes is insane, but in the best way! I only started playing this game little over 10 days ago and have watched a few series which have been helpful with making the basics but once I got to Coal Power and Steel it all became quite messy and I stupidly started in the desert but this series has been great so far. I am considering following along from this episode onwards and making the buildings to my own style but I am way more focused on the logistics, I am quite technically minded and like to see the numbers from my head working out in the world. This factory is, sooo satisfying to watch turn on and work and all the numbers work so well. Thanks Darren for such a great series so far and I am excited to see where it goes from here! You earnt my Sub after the two massive videos on the Coal Plant because its genius! Keep up the great work and sorry for the essay lol.

    I like this build and enjoy the way you make such an effort to get the production chains balanced. I think that I'll be deviating from this a bit - running the eight miners at 200% and moving the other iron area into this building so I can clean out the original area.
    BTW, setting all the power plants to 88.8888% for 24 MW of electricity seems like a lot of work but having an even 2,400 MW is so appealing that I know I'll be doing that before I build anything else.

  • @lizk2223

    If you had been at my place whilst I was building the coal power then you may well have had an education in "old lady" expletives. It was such a challenge and I do have it working...kinda, the water is still buggy as heck which causes the power to waiver....I spent hours and hours trying to troubleshoot the water. I found a document you supplied that showed a system where the water flowed continuously in what could be called a circular motion and am trying that as a final solution before I give up. You have nothing to apologise for, yes some bits were not shall we say...great, however it works and I can now adapt that for my other builds. This one was great right up until the walkways, these seem like a pretty low priority in the whole build but I had no clue how you constructed it and working that out was the longest part of the it for me. The rest was brilliant, great job well done!!!
    I will be building along with the rest of the series as this seems to keep me organised and on track. I would usually be charging around in buggies with spaghetti everywhere and not making enough of anything. So thank you!

    Hi there. Total beginner in satisfactory (just bought the game) and in factory game in general. I've been building on my own until I hit tiers 5 and 6... And felt a bit overwhelmed about how to tackle the rest. I've build some "optimized" factory, but very messy floor. I had the feeling that I was doing something wrong, and obviously my logistics wasn't going to work for the next phases.
    So I started to look for tutorials on buses and logistics, but most of the content actually only explains that buses should be raised and contains belt... duh. + Every walkthrough starts in northern forest or dune desert. Obviously as a noob, I started in grassy fields.
    And then I found the serie, watched it from the first episode even though I did it all. And I must say this is the most well explained things I've seen so far. And I don't mind about the errors, actually I like it : content creator building incredible factory in once as if it was nothing tends to demotivates me. The game is about trials and errors. Seeing thoses and how to fix them is really inspirationnal.
    SO anyway, thanks for your work and time

If somthing is recurring like lats say 0.333.. if you add that up 3 times its not 0.9999 its 9.999... (recurring) witch is the same as 1. In theory you will never do the 0.0001 extra rods per minute. All of your rods are perfectly consumed by the assemblers. Hope that gives you a little piece of mind, knowing that your factory is perfectly balanced.

    If we don't need a lot of module frames right now we can feed the extra into an AWESOME Sink for extra tickets!
    I moved the lifts off the back of the storage to make room for a splitter between the storage container and the lift. The splitter feeds into mergers between them which feed out to another set of mergers and lifts to feed the sink.
    It's a net positive storage of screws, and rods (I didn't hook up the plates to the sink) and will maintains a full storage container of modular frames even if you remove some.

    34:51 instead of merging all rods and then manifolding them into the screw constructors you could have merged two rod constructors to get 2 belts with 30 rods per minute each and then splitting each belt into 3 screw constructors which will receive the required 10 rods per minute perfectly.

      I agree, he made the same mistake on the reinforced plates. I feel like it would take a very long time for the factory to reach 100% efficiency the way he’s done it.

    • @Echo_0776
      @Echo_0776 Před 9 měsíci +2

      He could and it would technically be more efficient initially but at this scale it would not take long for the belts to fill a few machines, if your struggling with large manifolds I’d suggest switching the machines off at the start of the chain so they fill faster then turning them back on when the machines are more full, this is especially useful I find for fuel generators, especially when dealing with turbo fuel you can end up with 50+ generators off of 1 pipe and filling all that takes ages and you end with a wobbly power graph for a while unless you let them fill first

    I'm new. Built a coal power plant. It took 6-7 days. I was already a MK2 miner, MK3 lines and blueprints, when I saw your videos. So I decided to build all 180g at once. After a lot of mistakes and reworks, I built something that works. As a result, the energy jumps between 5000-6500. Perhaps the problem is the pipes, because... distant generators do not have enough water. Of the differences. I placed the pipes on the logistics floor 1 meter higher so that they do not impede movement (maybe this affected productivity, but I doubt it). Thanks for your hard work. This game mekes you feel like you worked a shift at a factory.

    • @Lars1690
      @Lars1690 Před 8 měsíci

      Could be Mk1 pipe lurking somewhere in the line. Just look at the flow in the pipe before it enters the first machine. Should be near 600.
      Other common problem is that you have to let the pipes fill up before turning on the machines. Switch off a few in a row and put them on again when the pipe is topped up. Fluid buffers higher than the pipes to the machines also help with fluctuations.

    • @WhatDarrenPlays
      @WhatDarrenPlays  Před 8 měsíci

      Try place the pumps higher, that was an issue for a lot of people. And just work on one line until its working, then you can do the others. So follow the extractors, on a pipe, all the way up to the coal generators you have. Turn off the generators if you want, and fill the pipes with water, then turn on the generators and you should be able to trace any problems if there are any.

      @@Lars1690i only have MK1 pipes, like the pump. not unlocked mk2 yet

    • @Lars1690
      @Lars1690 Před 8 měsíci

      @igorsjankovskis1466 ah, my bad. I thought you had all generators running. And with mk1 pipes you have a lot of pipes to run all.
      But the other part is still valid. Every time you handle any type of fluid, full pipes before starting.

    I am in the middle of replicating the Coal Power plant in the Rocky Desert start but with the challenge of having to make it a different shape. The 4 Normal Coal nodes that most Rocky Desert folks go to have water nearby but it is a long thin area instead of being wide.
    I ended up making a long floor with columns of the coal generators in thin vertical rows (like three rows of four capital letter I). There were some annoying curved rock scenery down at the water level but I am managing to build round it by spacing out the water extractors as needed.

    Future video suggestion here
    Maybe do a somewhat “update day” where you upgrade your all factory’s using MK2,and so on, miners for maximum protection. Of course I can understand how that may be difficult and make for a extra long video but, just an idea. Much love keep up the good work ;3

    3:31 instead of writing 88% or even 88.8888% you can write the formula straight into the coal generator, so instead of writing the percentage you can do 40/45 to get as accurate of a result

    on my 4th restart of this game and seem to have followed the same route as you (maybe not as big or fancy) with coal power then modular frame factory. Really looking forward to seeing you complete this game and an epic nuclear power plant.

    Would be super interesting to see some sort of walkthrough/post in how you plan your factories and what tools you use to do it (diagrams etc)
    This is something I was really struggling with when I used to play and one of the reasons I got burned out around phase 6. I never really enjoyed using satisfactory tools either and as far as I know you don't either?
    Anyway, thanks a lot for starting a new series, really got me hyped to play again :)

      I legit use pen and paper lol. Idk, it's somewhat fun to do something analog in a world where everything can be done on a computer. Of course, for detailed calculations I do use a calculator or Excel. But honestly, give pen and paper a shot, maybe craft a fancy binder while you're at it ;)

    Regarding whether or not to stick the splitter directly onto the top conveyor lift, I agree it looks weird but having the splitter just floating in front of it looks weird too. So if I gotta choose, I'll choose the more convenient option :)

    The only thing that bothers me about the builds are the uneven splitting and merging 😅 I always buidl more splitters and mergers than needed so its even if you get my drift 😂 But nice series for sure, havent played much and a few versions ago but do live the game. Keep it going!
