Since this video was released, the Awdry Extravaganza for 2022, which I attended, revealed more lecture notes Wilbert Awdry had drawn up, which gave more exacting legitimate information into the locomotives that ran the two railways. The notes stated the Wellsworth & Suddery Railway opened in 1878 - making it possible 1870 was a typewriting error when the information was printed for 'The Island of Sodor: Its People, History and Railways'. Three locomotives ran the line: two Manning Wardle saddle tanks bought 'off the peg', and a second-hand Cornwall Minerals Railway 0-6-0 tank engine. The lecture notes reveal too that exactly three Coffepot engines were built for the Knapford and Elsbridge Railway, which extended to Elsbridge from Toryreck in 1910. The Coffepots were built using donkey engines salvaged from steam boats, and the first one was scrapped around the time the line to Elsbridge was completed. In 1919 the other locomotives were noted to be worn out, but their final disposal information isn't clear. In truth we know this is because Wilbert Awdry didn't give himself extra time to further flesh out his material, and there were some parts of what I heard when I was there that was kind of hastily drawn to conclusions for my liking.
    Regards, Samuel Farris.

The lore of Sodor is very underrated in my opinion.

In my head canon the W&S engines on were as follows: No.1 Cole an ex-LNWR Special tank, No.2 Terri an ex-LBSCR A1, No.3 Ella a Haydock Foundry well tank, and finally No.4 William/Billy a Manning Wardle L class.

Here's a detail you left out: two of the wellsworth and suddery engines are manning wardle 0-6-0 saddletanks engines, one of other engines is a sharp stewart 0-6-0 tender(formerly tank and then tender-tank) engine from the Cornwall's mineral railway and the 4th engines class is unknown
