How does the Lexus RX 500h turbocharged hybrid system work?

- The game-changing new RX 500h is Lexus’s first turbocharged hybrid, developed to provide high-end electrified performance.
Using a completely new hybrid architecture comprising a 2.4-litre turbo engine and six-speed automatic transmission, it delivers 366bhp. The front electric motor is positioned between the combustion engine and the transmission (which has a clutch on both sides), enabling great flexibility in power delivery.
There is also an 80kW e-Axle, a compact, modular package housing a motor, gearing and an ECU, located between the rear wheels. Its compact dimensions help secure more space in the cabin and load compartment.

@@lexusuk planned on picking up the 500h but the MPG for the 450H is a bit too appealing and I can get it in the F sport trim.

Yes, that is for the UK market. Other markets may differ.
Interesting to see that Lexus chose NiMH for the Hybrid battery of a brand new Hybrid SUV instead of Lithium-ion like the new Toyota Prius do which seem to be more responsive than NiMH.
Heat. NIMH batteries are less concerned with heat management when compared with Li-ON batteries. Lexus probably prioritizes power extraction from the cell over weight.
I agree! I'm installing the M20A-FXS into my Prius currently and the rear AWD from the UX 250h will be powered by using a can bus controlled rear electric motor. I'm going to have to use the Prius PRIME battery in my 13 Plugin, its the only newer battery that Lithium-ION like my current battery and I figured I'd use the Rav-4 PRIME battery for more range! Nope wont work and none other than Prius PRIME being Lithium-ion with more than 350v in the line up from what I can tell.
