I’m related to Astrid, she was my great grandmothers second cousin and I live in the city where she was born. I live even closer to where they recorded the movies about Emil. It was in the village were my grandfather grew up and still lives and he helped during the recordings and met all the actors and Astrid herself. His mother took care of the kid actors when they missed their parents and him and his brothers were extras as well. You can even see my great grandfathers cows in the background. The village where Inger comes from is also not too far away, I go skiing there sometimes.

+Gillian Einsidler She is explaining the reason of the charachter pippi and that she wrote the story after she broked her fot and her daughter inspired her to make pippi back in 1941 when her daughter also were sick and kept saying " can you tell a story mom and she said sure wich one, the one about pippi " and there was none until then when her child said that name,, , and about reality that children are not superior to adults, but this is a girl wich have no fear against grown ups, and that she is writing everything by herself and she hopes that people understand this is fairytales ofc because some people didnt really realise this and were quite hard on the character instead of realise this is just fairytale if you know what i mean, and also that some kids was stealing money from their parents because " pippi did it in the movie" and doing things wich they shouldnt wich made Astrid a bit sad. ( sry for my bad eng) but that sums it up pretty much
Gillian Einsidler She said that was on vacation at Gotland and they just came home from gotland and on the tv they looked for a actor, And her dad said lets apply for the character just for fun cause they looked for a girl with 8-9 years of age with that kind of hairstyle and frickles, and since she had the the perfect look they wanted and also a interesting personality they picked her as Pippi,she also told she ofc had read the books about pippi, she also said where she lived, from kisa in Östergötland, and where villa villekulla the house is at and its in Gotland close to vimmbery. She also got the monkey her nilsson from her dad when she was very young but that i think they referred to " the movie " and she said they had to scold at the monkey to make it perform, she also thought back then it was quite fun to see herself on the tv, and she asked her if she was going to do any more movies and by the time she didnt know anything.

The girls father looked at her daughter who had freckles and her hair like Pippi and said "let's give it a shot for fun". And she was casted. The interviewer then asks about the location of the house they played in which is in Visby, Gotland. The interviewer then asks if she got to lift the horse and Pippi jokes about "you just grab it underneath and lifts". Then the interviewer asks about the monkey and Pippi then goes into character and say she got it from her dad when she was little and tells her how to make the monkey behave and then explains that her father saved gold coins and sh*t. She's just in character really now which the adult audience find amusing (in modern time this would be regarded as trolling the interviewer i guess). She then talks briefly about beating up the strongman and the awkward interview goes on and on. The questions is really like: "how did you feel beating the strongman", "how did you lift the horse" and other questions a child would write down. Then the interviewer asks if she have any more plans for films and Pippi says "nah, i don't think so... i don't know.. if there will be another film. I have no updates about it right now". Then comes an awkward pause... and thanks good Astrid Lindgren comes in to break the awkwardness. This is the first 4 minutes for you.
