According to custom, when a Scandinavian monarch ascends to the throne, their first visit is to the Nordic country with the longest reigning monarch. Queen Margarethe II of Denmark visited Gustav VI Adolf of Sweden in 1973. The next year Carl XVI Gustav came to the throne of Sweden, and visited Olav V of Norway, whose successor Harald V visited Margarethe II in 1991. Now the tradition continues with Frederik X visiting Carl XVI Gustav.
It is wonderful to see the joy of the reunion expressed by both King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark and the Crown Princesses of Sweden, Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, a demonstration that clearly portrays the bonds of friendship that exist between the two Scandinavian Royalty couples.
The way that the Danish and Swedish people are so well behaved as they see their monarchs is amazing! No fuss, no security problem. A clear demonstration of how much evolved they are 🎉
GBU This is really a heart warming visit for the King and queen of Denmark abroad I enjoy every part of it. This must be a visit to remember fr the Royalty luvu all 🌹❤️

People might not realize how closely Frederik X and Carl XVI Gustav are related. They are first cousins once removed as King Frederik X's great-grandfather is Gustav VI Adolf, and King Carl XVI Gustav is the grandson of Gustav VI Adolf. This event is a nice family reunion.

Thank you for that explanation.

After what happened to Danish PM, i would not say there is no security problem.
As an Australian with Danish DNA, I am extremely proud of Mary. I love Sweden and I love Denmark and these traditions unite people.
Felicitaciones a ambos reyes y sus reinas, desde Chile.
I liked the initial reception, they acted as if they were Family, more relaxed than in other monarchies...
Well, they are actually related, first cousins once removed

It nice to see their sincere friendship and full of respect and love. I am proud of queen Mary, as an Australian woman and wife and as Tasmanian.😊😊

In Sweden, don't you get up in the presence of the king? Rudeness and bad upbringing.
Crown Princess Victoria, a future monarch in her own right, should not have to curtsey to Queen consort Mary.
