Have you've ever wondered how and why you should travel Australia full time? take a look at this video. We discuss how we funded our trip, costs per month and why we ended up stopping and getting a home base in Queensland. It's definitely not for everyone but for us, travel life is amazing!

This is a powerful video. We have lost family at young ages. We have postponed our travels until we could afford it (apparently), but this year we are going. I will be 67 and i know ive missed the time for hiking and gorge wals etc, but im going to live it to the max, and maybe inspire my adult, camping loving kids to do the same but not wait so long.
Loss at a young age is terrible. I reckon you’ve still got some gorges in you. There are some crackers not far from carp parks around this country 🙏🏼
Go get it ❤️
Bloody glad you guys travelled mate! We are lucky to have ran into you guys! They say things happen for a reason and we are grateful for this!
Loving the vids, keep them coming , you are inspiring us even more 👊🏼
Bloody right back at you mate. We love you guys and can’t wait to see you. Very soon 😉
Go do it again 👌🏼
Love your honesty Brad. You have a beautiful family and memories are worth more than anything to a family. Enjoying your vids mate 👍
Thanks you legend! That’s exactly right my friend 🙏🏼
Hi Brad, this is the first video I have seen of yours, and i found it very inspirational. I dont want to travel full time with my family, but the question you raise is inspiring to even live your life for the now. I am of similar vintage to you and do get out a lot with my family in our van, and i enjoy every minute of it. Cheers.
Hey Will,
Thank you mate, I’m glad you got something from it! For sure, let’s live life and not exist mate 👌🏼
Do it, do it , do it. We traveled extensively in our 50 s and 60s it through house swapping all over the world. Now in our 70s our physical mobility is limited and we are so glad we did it while we could . Now we are having fun making photo books of all our journeys.
Great life isn’t it
I have only just found these.Thoroughly enjoyed your clips & they are very inspirational & puts things into perspective.
Looking forward to seeing more.
Thanks Steven! Appreciate the message mate. Will get more up soon 🤞🏼

That’s epic guys. Have fun and thank you 😊
Phwoar this resonated hard with me. We’re a family of five who is about to start our van life journey and I needed this video to help me put a few things in to perspective. Keep up the videos, mate!
Oh man that’s awesome! So glad you’re doing that. Glad to help 🙏🏼
So glad I came across your channel. I'm about to buy a caravan and go travelling fulltime. I'm nowhere near retirement age. I'll just do it anyway.
Glad you’re here. Yes!!! Go do it
Great honest video Brad, well presented !!!
Thanks Jeff 😊
Just found yr video. You are spot on. Don't leave it too late. The saying - I wish! A friend crammed every minute of his life, doing things after a plane crash that nearly crippled him. I understand now. As an empty nester I was able to sell the family home, retire from full time nursing and relocate to the sea, 460km from Adelaide. Daunting to leave my adult sons. But they have their own lives to live. So doing the sea change, hubby needs a bit of a push. We got the van and after overseas trips, now trips in the van. I dont want to sell our retirement home in case our health deteriorates and we need a base. Just do it. Life is too short. In the blink of an eye, your life has sped by.
Too true
Great vid Brad. We are about 6 months away from setting off ourselves and currently packing down our house ready to lease out. Thanks for the reminder that this is what we want to do! 🤙
That’s awesome Aaron!! Definitely mate, go have a blast 👌🏼
Wow! Epic. Powerfull. Such well spoken. I feel sorry for the people who don't have this mind set. We get away as much as we can. Pulling up to camp you can't beat. I think people are slowly seeing you don't need to work til you die. More on the road everyday. But this is a raw video! Love it!! Hopefully in 12 months we will move to Qld from SA. Or wil do a 12 month lap. You just gota chase that feeling! That amazing property u sold? Was it in nth qld. That's like a dream home. Cheers brad
Thanks for your kind words mate 🙏🏼. Oh definitely do a lap when you can.
That property was north of Brisbane mate. It was, but things change in life and don’t need that big anymore. We just see work 😂
I needed to see this!! You’re a legend. *Subscribed.
Thank you 🙏🏼😊
Nailed it .Well done ,we did the same thing with the family . Kids have become teenagers and it’s time to start planning our next adventures just the 2 of us .
So good John. I’m sure you’ll have a blast and different experience just 2 of you 👌🏼
Wow thank you for making this powerful message
You have given me the inspiration to just do it now
I have set my date to do it and now get organised
Cheers man
Wow that’s amazing man!! Power to you 💪
Thank you very much for making me realise there’s more to life than working and busting your arse time to enjoy ourselves. Thank you once again
Definitely Peter!
Thanks for watching and go get it mate 🙏🏼
G'day Brad cant believe it was 9 months ago I commented on this video. We sold up everthing and have been up and down from Albany to Perth several times as we were waiting on the canopy build for our Hilux (took 5 months) but we are now fulltime touring and are currently near Bremer Bay working our way to SA. Our lap around will be more like a zig zag as we will be following the good weather, really enjoy the freedom of being unshackled from a house. At this stage have no definitive plans for the future as we have no time limits. Will have to head back to Perth occasionally to catch up with our new grandson, thanks for the inspiration
Regards Bill🙂👍
Hey Bill,
That’s awesome mate, sounds like a great trip. Well done 🙌🏼
Such good advise, and I only by chance stumbled apon your video.
Cheers mate. Appreciate your message and watching 🙏🏼
Well done Brad & family - I’m in my senior years but at the age of 30 I decided to retire early if my finances were put in order - so I worked out a 25 year plan and saved hard for the next decades pumping as much into my superannuation but still renting comfortably - I managed a redundancy package at 54 including a life pension - I put everything in storage an solo cycled from south to north Australia including NZ twice, Athens to Oslo to Cornwall, Scotland , Ireland and so on - then Covid arrived so no trek across Canada/US yet - I bought a country house in my birth state while passing through Covid till now - important to travel while you can but for me it’s also important to have a home base to return to.
Sounds like an epic life you’ve had my friend. Well done John 🙏🏼
First time to your channel, you make a good commentator.
Thankyou Brad
😊
Beautiful ,what a dad what a mom ,up with the Aussies 👏👏👏👏
Thank you ❤️
Very inspiring message ❤❤❤
Thanks Joe ❤️
I don't watch commercial TV anymore. I stream sport and watch CZcams videos. I also hardly ever like a video and more rarely comment. But this is an excellent video, some of the best advice and honesty I've ever seen about travelling Australia.
Good for you, commercial tv is painful. Thanks for liking and commenting 😊. I appreciate it 👌🏼
I’m not travelling or planning to travel full time. I really enjoyed ur video, and thanks for ur thoughts, it was really interesting

Thank you brother, I appreciate that and you guys 🙏🏼 Haha you saw that… 😂 what a night it was… damn the next day was tough
@@BradOlsenShow keep it up! It’s great content for so many reasons, it’s a insight to things that not everyone talks about which can be helpful. Haha still one of the biggest night ever had on the road in 3yrs lol
Thanks mate. Yeah I reckon it was my biggest or close to 🥵😂

@@BradOlsenShow thanks for the reply Brad. Cheers. Re lionel
Just came across you video tonight and YES YES YES. 2010 my health deteriorated ending up in hospital in 2011. Coping with this Aaong with being diagnosed with cancer in 2015. What did we do in 2016, still recovering from cancer, after our youngest got married? Packed up a 14' pop top van and travelled over East for 3 months on long service leave. We now have a 19'6 and go away when we have a spare weekend, long weekends and annual leave. Love being out in nature. I'm still unwell but we decided that I might as well be sick in nature than being sick and miserable at home. I'm just going to start at episode 1 before going to sleep to dream about our next adventure in 2 weeks time.
This puts a smile on my face ☺️. I’m so glad your out there doing it! I am sure that bloody illness will go away soon 🙏🏼. Thank you
@@BradOlsenShow NOPE! you learn to live with it and get on with it with a smile on your face.
Well said Brad keep travelling
Thanks mate
U just opened my eyes like u wouldnt beleave
Awesome mate 🙏🏼
Great video , I'm in that process of going 24/7 life on the road ..sold my house lots of belongings .M y settlement date is 3 April ..I m by my self but with a dog and cat , the cat worries me though. I feel nervouse and excited at the same time . I bought a ford ranger and a 21 foot caravan , I have never towed a big trailor before so a bit nervous about that too. I was struggling financially etc trying to hang on to my house for years . I love camping so I'm all good with that . Good luck in your new home base adventures , and maybe I might see you on the road some day .I'm 55 btw and am on centerlink benefits .
Wow that’s amazing, good luck you’ll have a grea time. Friends of ours travelled with a cat no worries 😊
Great video Brad, thanks
We have just made a spontaneous decision to live more and buy a caravan and travel. Just dropped a deposit on a van hoping to leave in June for about 2mths. No idea where to yet but will be going through your videos.
Oh that’s awesome Katie. So many places to visit with the family 👌🏼. Hope you’re all well
We’ve travelled NZ and wanted to move to Oz in 2 years for a road trip very exciting… we have been living in a van for 2 years now on Waiheke Island and its been amazing 😁
We’d love to hit NZ at some point. Well done guys 👌🏼
Hi Brad , my wife just sent me this video. We are currently selling our house to start our travel Aus dream. Iam 59. Left work 18 months ago. We will 4wd and tent it. Were planning to buy a new vehicle but the waiting list for the vehicle is 6 to 9 months then the canopy we want is 3 to 4months. So a low mileage used vehicle will be our updated plan. Our kids are independent nowadays but would have loved to have done what you did when they were younger what an amazing life gift to have passed on, I will now subscribe and watch some more of your videos. Regards Bill
Oh that’s awesome Bill!! Yeah, car wait times are a bit long currently. There are some awesome set ups second hand that are starting to be better priced. Appreciate the message. Now I better produce more vids 😆
Nice
Wow
Brilliant
🙏🏼
You are absolutely correct we did the same thing in 2020 my wife’s sister passed so we left
Sorry to read that about sis n law. Good on you for travelling mate 🙏🏼
Thanks for sharing your journey with us. 👍
Anytime. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Mate..well said.
🙏🏼
Hey Brad
Really enjoy your videos i see they are a year old have you stopped making new cheers
i did a year on the road like u. i just got into a house. 3 kids and wife. honestly, its been 2 months and i hate being in the house. the family is disconnected again and back in the rat race. we are going again end of the year. if it feels wrong, it feels wrong for a reason. society is not natural the way it is. also our kids back in school after a year. they are 3 years above everyone else and they only did 2 hours a day! HAHAHA and every day is a drinking day, so funny. that was us. we dont drink but were having 2-4 drinks in the arvo watching the sun go down and the kids play. puts a tear in my eye.
Oh that’s awesome. Yeah hard to get back to mainstream isn’t it.
@Brad Olsen oh It is. It's really opened my eyes to what is and isn't important and how I feel life is meant to be. Hopefully gone again by Jan.
100%
🙏🏼
My wife and I left the RV life simply because after effects of covid pretty much ruined full time travel. It sucks but it's the way it went.
Buggar mate. Made it tricky for some.
My old man used to often say "Your a long time dead" and he was right!
True words right there mate 👌🏼
All true. Just remember the 2 biggest nightmares about full time traveling. 1- illness...God forbid but serious illness happens and believe me you don't want to be stuck in a caravan dealing with cancer or something like that for years.2- Expensive breakdowns...Go online and there is thousands of cases where even brand new rigs are written off without insurance because of factory issues or insurance not paying because of modification. I plan on traveling full time. it's all I think about. just have a back up plan. cheers 🍻
Oh man that would be terrible mate. Bad stuff can happen luckily more good though. Best of luck mate, it’ll happen 🙏🏼
No regrets. If you can finish life saying that, you have done well.
Absolutely Grahame 👏
Life is a journey and never the destination.
So true!
Hi mate, your one of the more intelligent
Thanks mate 🙏🏼
Material possessions, greed and decadence is the ruination of life. Life isn't a dress rehearsal for later on.
At the age of (say) 30 you've got 20000 days left. At midnight tonight you'll have one day less.
Definitely not Ade! You only get one shot mate. What a way to put it too 👌🏼
