x86 is always going to be relatively heavy on the TPD. At least if comparing to ARM or something like that. (x86 includes amd64, in case someone out there isn't aware yet). But I don't think you can get much smaller TPD when you put very powerful CPUs like these in a computer.

Ok my main problem with Intel 13th Gen is the fact that they have all these SKUs, and yet companies will only use the i9 and the i7 variants. It’s why laptops are so expensive. For example, imagine if Alienware added the i5 13600HX in their laptop lineup this year. Then people could get an i5 and a RTX 4080 and be content bc they don’t as powerful if a CPU.

I've noticed that this trend of increasing the price of laptops has become more and more widespread. If before you could buy a laptop for 1k, then it became 1.5k, and now its almost 2k. For 2k you can make an amazing desktop PC. So tbh, i feel kinda confused. You cant buy a laptop and use it for 5 years. We gotta be realistic. I mean theoretically we can. But practically your only ssd becomes used over the time, and starts to slow down, because the number of writings are limited on ssd. If you use it regularly it will get slower. Same for your pc overall. Besides, technologies evolve. A couple of years ago we didnt have fingerprint scanners in laptops. Now a lot of laptops have them. In 5 years a lot of things will change in termps of technology. Paying 2k for a laptop, that you will probably want to change in a couple of years doesnt make much sense.

I'm typing this on my Alienware 13 R3 built in 2017 , still running great. It's got an i7, 1060gpu , OLED 1440p touch screen , user replaceable ram , 2 ssd slot and wifi slot. I just put in a brand new fresh SSD and used Dell's OS recovery tool that is specific to your model. My laptop is like brand new again.
      6+ years old
I'm gonna get the 13th gen XPS 15 OLED , i9 , 4070 version to replace my aging laptop.
The XPS is the closest thing I can find that is like my old Alienware. Since it has OLED + touch and a gpu and it's only about .57 inches wider so it's nearly the same size too.
Weird that a 15 inch laptop from 2023 is nearly the same width as a 13inch laptop from 2017
The closest I could find before that was the RAZER 13 stealth oled 1080p , with 1650ti , but it wasn't really an upgrade since both the 1650ti and the 1060 were about the same performance and the screen was a resolution downgrade from 1440p to 1080p so I waited for the XPS 15 13th gen.
I think most reviewers forget most of the public aren't jaded by a steady supply of review laptops , so they can be a bit more picky. One reviewer complained that the 13inch screen was too small.
REALLY BRO? too small? Is ice cream too...ice cream?
