Saving bacon grease to use in other things is not uncommon. Fried cabbage and noodles cooked in bacon grease is delicious. Im not saying this freak does anything right. Just that i've met a few grandparents that have the little decorative jar on the stove thats there to store bacon grease.
I think somewhere down the line he must've combined the idea of cooking things in bacon fat or lard (which would be cooled and saved instead of sitting for 4 days in a dirty pan) with the rule for seasoning cast iron about not washing it with dish soap or else it will take the petina off. Both of these things he has misinterpret into the flavors in the pan are enhanced when you let the contents congeal for two weeks

Saving bacon grease to use in other things is not uncommon. Fried cabbage and noodles cooked in bacon grease is delicious. Im not saying this freak does anything right. Just that i've met a few grandparents that have the little decorative jar on the stove thats there to store bacon grease.

I think somewhere down the line he must've combined the idea of cooking things in bacon fat or lard (which would be cooled and saved instead of sitting for 4 days in a dirty pan) with the rule for seasoning cast iron about not washing it with dish soap or else it will take the petina off.
Both of these things he has misinterpret into the flavors in the pan are enhanced when you let the contents congeal for two weeks

I feel like Josh watched one of those Food Network shows where they go to an old greasy spoon type of place that has been there since 1800 something, and they claim to have the same grease since they first opened like it's a point of pride.
