[hate5six] Cave In - December 05, 2021

- A few months ago I reached out to CAVE IN and offered to do a full production of their December 5th show at The Sinclair in Cambridge, MA. They loved how the video of their 2019 TID the Season set turned out and were on board with the idea. If you liked that 2019 video, this one is even better. If you aren't already excited about new Cave In material, get ready.
This entire film was fully funded by viewer support. As support for hate5six grows, it allows me to approach larger bands about doing a whole production at zero cost to them and freely available to the public, while also using that upgraded gear to film smaller bands playing DIY shows. If you like these "concert films" I've been doing as of late, consider supporting the channel for $2/month or $20/year: patreon.com/hate5six. If you're already a Patreon subscriber, go check out the Lesser Glow set from this same show. It's available for Early Access right now, and you can vote on when it gets released on CZcams.
First and foremost I need to thank Neda Khan and the staff at The Sinclair for making this happen. They went above and beyond in making this production seamless.
Thank you to:
Otto Klammer for engineering the sound
Brian Brooks for running a camera
Len Carmichael at Landmine Studios for mixing and mastering

The mix on this is fucking perfect.

@@SanskarWagley I'd like to think the trade off for the UYHS deep cuts is worth it
thanks for the timestamps! one note i noticed was that Ebola starts at 11:00
@@liam_fp oops fixed that!
@@ChaboyAnthony Deep cuts for days.
One of the most underrated bands of their generation.
and still way ahead of their time....this made me feel some kind of way.....took me right back to 99 when i first heard until your heart stops, being a metal head, thats a sucker for a balad, Cave In was always a favorite of mine...
its kind of unreal how well this still stands up today, I just found out about Heavy Pendulum and I cant stop listening to the live UYHS and Jupiter stuff
@@wambolt1212 I get the feeling that the members of Cave In are just now getting to the point where their playing experience and maturity is allowing them to fully embody and deliver the vision of the music they clearly had in their heads twenty years ago.
I don't know anybody in Cave In's generation who underrated them. Until Your Heart Stops was easily the biggest hardcore/metalcore record of 1998.
@@DarwinistI can’t agree with you more. So glad we get to see what these guys coax out of the ether. I’d wager their best is yet to come, as bonkers as that sounds.
How in the fuck is Sunny not producing live videos for every big rock and metal band out there? The quality on this is outstanding. Exceptional shit. Mix and master is fantastic too.
Cave In will forever be one of the most unique bands, never afraid to go outside of the box. They have formed a sound of their own that cannot be duplicated.
This is top tier. Performance, cinematography, and sound.
I know. I wish they filmed more concerts! I wish I had all the equipment Sunny has!
ive never heard of this band until now and im blown away this is sooo good
Oh man you are lucky to get to listen to them for the first time. They are so good.
Don't not listen to Antenna 😁
Go down the whole damn rabbit hole. ONEOFUS
Be sure to also check out all 70 of Steven Brodsky's side projects. That guy might be the busiest guy in the music industry.
Make sure to take a direct stop at everything from 93-98. The MVHC years. Shows with Piebald, 357 Noise, Ten Yard Fight, and Gambit. The I Kill Children Years. The Phillips Academy and Red Barn Live Show Years. The stuff with Converge and Cable and Grade. When split Seven inch’s were the vibe. When you had big black X’s on the backs of your hands. The old Earth Crisis shows. When it was so important to be at EVERY SHOW, with EVERYONE. Before Jupiter, before Antenna, back when we listened on cassette tapes. When vintage Hardcore was really born.
They were there. These guys were right there. Stop from 93 - 98. You will fall in love. Until Your Heart Stops.
-yasha-
Fuck YESSSS!!!! Caleb's energy is still such a part of this band, and it's such a tribute to see you continue in his honor. THANK YOU FOR KEEPING CAVE IN ALIVE!!!!
I had to sell my ticket last minute due to COVID. Can’t believe I now get to witness the almighty Cave In again in all their glory. What a set! Thanks man!!
That final with "sing my loves" was emotional af.
bruh...
Man this is incredible. There is no bands like Cave In who can play tracks from their entire discography and sound even better live. Phenomenal!!
Brodsky's harsh vocals are ON POINT.
this is such an unexpected setlist after the 2nd track, the show took an absolute left turn. glad i didn't read the comments before watching it - top work
The sound mixing on this is INSANE. I can't believe how good the quality is.
Love how the new song "Blinded" sounds like a Brodsky solo tune made four dimensional with the full band
Yeah or a mutoid song lol
Production on this is outstanding. Happy to be able to relive this in such amazing quality. Thanks!
Me moshing for the first time in 18 years during the Ebola breakdown at 14:20
All of Cave In are the most incredibly talented musicians but JR doesn't get anywhere near enough credit
ya hes one of my fav drummers now, so good
Was watching him play and thinking the same exact thing. And I have seen these fellas with Ben on drums and JR also........ it's just different flavors of awesome, as far as I'm concerned.
However........... JR........ He is as goddamned solid as they get. All of his parts cater to the riffs and the songs soooooooooooo freakishly goddamn perfectly and precisely. And you can set a clock to his timing. Absolutely ON FUCKING POINT.
Very underrated, indeed.
He's a beast
His drums and cymbals sound so in tune with the band.
He was one of a few drummers who really gave me an appreciation for what can be done on a small kit. Great balance of playing to the song and creativity.
This is the first time in 20 years I actually understand most of the lyrics to the Until Your Heart Stops songs
I can now finally tell Brodsky and McGrath apart when they're being wild on stage lmao
I don’t think words can express how much I love this.
I love Cave In. This is so great and the sound is amazing, thanks for recording/posting it
This was the first time (so far) I've seen Cave In. One of my best friends and I drove down 3-4 hours from Maine to catch this show and it was magical. It was such a stellar performance, and this recording proves it. I hope they release this as a live album!!
Every set I've seen these guys play since Caleb passed is a cathartic, emotional gutpunch. Thanks for being there Sunny and thank you Cave-In. RIP Caleb
im so glad Cave In is still around after all these years
I was turned onto this band in 1998 from my friend Colin M. while living in San Diego. This band is brutal, tender, fun and honest - the music they've created (in my opinion) is a blueprint for how it should be. Thank You, Cave In - keep on Rockin'
Just discovered this band. Until your heart stops is a true hidden gem. I wish they would have continued that style, it's like the brother to calculating infinity I never knew. Controlled mayhem Should be considered a math core classic.
They were the hottest band in hardcore when it released, right up there with Converge, Dillinger, Botch and a couple of others. Everyone expected them to become scene titans but then they released Jupiter out of left field, which I would all day every day put in my top 5 of my favorite albums of the 2000s.
Before watching this vide, I only knew these guys a little from their late 90s work and now I just can't get over how flawless and diverse the live vocals are. Beautiful recdomg
This is so sick. Awesome job man. The video and mix are top notch.
This was increditable!!!! The production of this video was great. I was at the show that night as special guest of Cave-In. I can say that this is one of best live shows I have see. There really isn't another rock band that reaches the musical limits that they do.
I can not wait to see where their new music takes us.
hands down one of the best concert films i've ever seen, thank you so much for doing this! It's surreal to see/hear UYHS material in this quality, especially the passion they still perform it with. Any of the other songs sound identical to the record lmao it's insane
This is so fucking beautiful. Bunch of nerds. RIP Caleb.
One of the greatest bands ever.. Caleb would be proud guys. Thanks!!!
Thank you! Finally I can see "Controlled Mayhem then Erupts!" after paying for but having to miss the LA UYHS show!
This was an incredible recording, like record perfect... INSANE!
I'm stoked, they played that song for the first time
Cave In is the best band in the world, why don't more people think this
sorrry, but this is just too incredible.
flawless musicianship, butt-tight performance, sick vocals and all performers on top of their game.
coupled with a flawless recording by 856, whether it be for the sound, images or editing.
sing my loves. we will all sing.
I wasn't able to make this show, this is the next best thing. Thank you!
Caught two of the Vitus shows on this run. Cave In are as tight as they've ever been. Can't wait for Heavy Pendulum to drop. Great video, thanks for that!
I was the Dec.04th saint vitus show. Flew in from the west coast, of Canada for it, and it was totally worth it!!!
57:47, this is the second song I fell in love with after seeing them the first time last year with Botch and Converge! \m/
This is incredible. Excellent job on the audio, visual & of course from Cave In 🤍
This was an awesome experience of Cave In. Love what Brodsky and the crew can do. Thanks for sharing!
Beyond awesome! Thanks both you and band for this! Cheers from Portugal!
Absolutely amazing recording! Sounds so friggin good. RIP Caleb
This is fucking nuts, such good quality. Thank you so much for doing this, from a UK fan who couldn't make it over for these shows
This show was tops. Never thought I’d hear these tunes live and it made my night.
God like production, mixing and videography. Wow wow wow.
Sunny does it again. Thankyou so much 🙌🏽🔥
Cave In is as vital as ever !
This recording mix is unreal. Been listening to this on repeat for a few days.
Pumped for the new album! Coming back to this video today... and my mind is blown again! Thank you HATE5SIX
My goodness! The sound mix is unreal.
for the love of all that is good in the universe please bring one of your bands to play in Finland mr Brodsky.
Thank you. I will wait.
I've watched tons of your live show recordings and this one might be my favorite. Excellent sound quality, great footage, and a great band. A+ my dude.

Thanks, Sunny!
Absolutely loved the nod to converge during the big riff solo
I know every guy and his dog are going to say the same thing in the comments, but I'm so fucking blown away by how amazing the mix is on this. Incredible upload, many thanks.
Just immaculate - Thank you so much for recording this, the quality is just beyond words, I could almost have been there!
Cave in are fucking legends. Thanks so much for recording my favorite band !!!!
words cant express how much I loved watching this, thanks
This was on my 36th birthday, and I can see myself moshing in the goofiest way imaginable, I love it.
So cool seeing older metalheads having time of their lives (by older i mean not teens etc). Keep it up. ❤ older metalheads always are the funniest during the shows giving life to the audience
AMAZING! Thank you so much for this!
It STILL feels good to know that I still worry about what I'm missing...
I'm so damn old but I remember listening to Cave In a few years after I found Hardcore at about 17. First i found REMEMBERING NEVER. I MISS YOU SO MUCH PETE...I'm 44 and I still have so much passion and love for Hardcore. I have had 7 years sober but im a chronic relapser. When life gets truly difficult bands like Cave In and so many more have given me the strength to put down a substance and feel good about who I am inside. Ya thar got more deep than I planned. Mean Pete you really have saved my life, man. Fuck Cancer !!!! 😢 Thank you as well Cave In your music truly gives life to the dead inside... Im sorry Caleb....
I was working the upstairs bar, so I had a pretty good seat. But this looks & sounds even better! Amazing work 🤘
Love that color of the CME edition SG
After listening to Dark Driving in the memorial show and then here it just hits so much harder. Probably my favorite Cave In song now.
I had the pleasure of seeing Cave In in a small club in springfield Ma on the Jupiter tour. It was incredible. That approach to the the rythm section was game changing. I believe it to be one of the best and sonically diverse records ever made.
The best video I have ever seen by one the most awesome bands ever! Had the pleasure to see them when they supported Hundred Reasons in the UK,will never forget it!
Incredible!!! So fucking good. Thanks for shooting this and sharing man
First End Of Our Rope Is A Noose in 21 years? Stephen's cleans sound better and more confident every year. Hearing 2021 Brodski belt this out is amazeballs.
Same same same. Love the evolution
Ten minutes in, I'm blown away.
Just wow! Thank you!!
Nate's screams are sooo tight here
This is incredible! Sounds amazing!
Thanks for filming! Wish I hadn't missed them in BK :(
This gig was unforgettable
Gawd damn this was recorded super well dude. Bravo man! This sounds and looks incredible. Feels like I was actually there. Couldn't make it to this show unfortunately.
Ebola is sooooooo fucking heavy! Loving the different vocal stylings on the UHYS songs...especially that "F*ck" at at 12:05 :D
God damn, JR just absolutely murdering it
Once again, thank you hate5six for an amazing quality video, of one of the best bands around. Cheers!
Nate is the only possible person they could have got to fill those shoes.
I fucking love this band.
They sound incredible. As tight as on the albums.
Love the sound mix on your video's !!!
Amo a esta banda.
What a fucking concert, my god.
That last part playing Sing My Loves was just magical.
Sooooo underappreciated!
I wish someone would make a playlist of the shows that have been tracked out/multi-cam like this and the Turnstile release.
This is so well done (as are all the shows done this way) and Stephen and the boys are a perfect example of a band that can do no wrong. Who Inspires You?
This is so good, I've been listening to Cave-in since around Jupiter came out, followed them & the other projects like Old Man Gloom etc, never seen them live as they've not been to the uk to much recently maybe one day.
Touring the UK in October
amazing. thank you so much for this
Really nice! Thanks!
Cave in , after all these years : just awesome !
"We're going over the Cliff Together"....
Damn this sounds amazing, perfect mix!
Amazing as always.
i love how Brodsky is almost benjamin buttoning his presence. on fire right now!
