So I actually decided why they used that hand. It’s for the vertical joint in the wrist so you can get those “kazar” type poses. I found this out looking for a gripping hand that’s fully closed with a vertical hinge they are all trigger fingers

They SHOULD have sculpts a new hand, they took an unnecessary short cut, but Kudos to your plastic detective skills, I never would have figured that out 😂
