Islam takes a person away from his history, roots and ancestors. Iman and Moazzam both are Arabic names. Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi Muslims keep foreign names, pray in a foreign language, face a foreign city while praying, celebrate foreign festivals, follow foreign rituals and traditions, glorify foreign history and consider themselves as foreigners. That is why Dr. Ambedkar had said that a Muslim will never accept India as his homeland and a Hindu as his brother or friend.

The economic impact of focus on education and development by good governance in India is there for all to see... We all share strong bond religion never came between us. We celebrate each other's festival. But if u don't have close connection with other religious people you hear various things which build certain perception. There are all kind of people good and bad and our interaction with them set an openion. Bad people = bad openion vice and versa.

Islam is a close corporation and the distinction that it makes between Muslims and non-Muslims is a very real, very positive and very alienating distinction. The brotherhood of Islam is not the universal brotherhood of man. It is brotherhood of Muslims for Muslims only. There is a fraternity, but its benefit is confined to those within that corporation. For those who are outside the corporation, there is nothing but contempt and enmity. The second defect of Islam is that it is a system of social self-government and is incompatible with local self-government, because the allegiance of a Muslim does not rest on his domicile in the country which is his but on the faith to which he belongs. To the Muslim ibi bene ibi patria [Where it is well with me, there is my country] is unthinkable. Wherever there is the rule of Islam, there is his own country. In other words, Islam can never allow a true Muslimto adopt India as his motherland and regard a Hindu as his kith and kin.

After reading many fellow Indians’ comments, I have to confess that I do relate better with Punjabi Pakistanis and it’s largely because of a common culture and language.
You are right in saying that people need to change their thought processes and become more inclusive. Religion is supposed to bind people together instead of tearing them apart.
Have grown up respecting all religions and our ethnic diversities.
Holi is not celebrated in all states in India. But nevertheless it’s celebrated by people belonging to various religions. We have friends who are not the same religion that I am but we celebrate each other’s festivals with just as much happiness and respect. Most of India is like that. Do not believe the gossip channels.

Also The Holi festival is celebrated across the whole of India with different traditions in each region. Generally, the celebration of Holi in North India, in the Golden Triangle of Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, is more vivid than in the Southern part of India, which focuses on religion and temple rituals.

Like Indonesia which still identify itself with the heritage of their Hindu ancestors. The basic meaning of history itself the past of the land. When it doesn't happen, the identity crisis comes in.
