    If you are young and into cars and want really sporty looks go for this. But if you are in 30s and still want some power and have decent sporty looks while keeping comfort on spot go for golf 7 GTD.
    Drove both, yes ST looks alot more sportier than golf but Golf 7 GTD wins in comfort and it's alot more fun to cruise in.

      Golf apparently is having more issues and more expensive to maintain

    I bought mine brand new in January 2015. Have done 66,000 miles in it. Very cheap to run. 48 mpg average and, when I bought it, £20 per year road tax. This has now gone up to £140 if you bought one after April 2017.With a Bluefin remap, the throttle response is epic and delivers a couple more mpg also.

      Nevil Bounds that’s amazing returns, considering it’s a ‘hot’ diesel. Have you made any modifications to her at all?
      Please don’t forget to hit subscribe for us 👍🏻

      Yes, I had a Bluefin remap from about 2,000 miles. Really delighted with it too. Still drives like it was brand new. One of the best cars I have ever owned.

    • @TheThreeCylinders
      @TheThreeCylinders  Před 6 lety

      Nevil Bounds Great to hear. How much power does she produce with the remap then?
      Louis is looking into getting the petrol version for himself.

    • @nevilbounds5762
      @nevilbounds5762 Před 6 lety +1

      It brings the power up to 221 BHP and the torque up to 490nm. That's 90nm than the standard car and this remap is all about the torque really. I had heard from one of the ST forums that the gearbox is only rated to 500nm though. The only downside is that 1st and 2nd gears are a bit unusable at high throttle settings in damp conditions because of the extra torque. From 3rd gear onwards though, all good. Because I don't rag it too much, I get 20,000 miles out of a set of Goodyear F1 tyres. These are the 18'' wheels though as they give a much better ride than the 19'' from what I have learned. Nice thing about Bluefin is that you can flash the remap back to stock settings yourself very easily.

    • @TheThreeCylinders
      @TheThreeCylinders  Před 6 lety

      Nevil Bounds nice. That’s a lot of torque, I bet she pulls like a freight train! 221bhp is quite a lot too. Very impressive figures! Well it certainly sounds like you look after her. What colour have you gone for?

  • @BarryShite25
    @BarryShite25 Před 6 lety +3

    BUT WHAT IS IT LIKE COMPARED TO THE PETROL!? That's what we need to know guys!! Good work!

    • @TheThreeCylinders
      @TheThreeCylinders  Před 6 lety +1

      TrafficScience thanks for the feedback! Although it looks the exact same as the petrol, it’s much slower and so we decided it would be an unfair comparison, hence why we compared it to the VW Golf GTD instead which has a very similar power output.
      The diesel Focus ST produces 182bhp 0-60 in 8.1 seconds vs 247bhp 0-60 in 6.5seconds from the petrol.

      @deyon100 Před 4 lety

      Well a stage 3 st diesel at Puma speed will give u 280 bhp with 600 nm of torque

    I have an estate version. Great car although tramlining is a slight issue. Steering wheel has never been straight and although it went back tonford 2 times they said it is in spec??

    • @TheThreeCylinders
      @TheThreeCylinders  Před 6 lety

      I've never heard of that issue! We've driven a few Focus ST's now (Petrol and Diesel) We have not had any issues like that before, but we have not drove the estate but I'd keep moaning to your dealership if I were you!

  • @Phen0mable

    • @TheThreeCylinders
      @TheThreeCylinders  Před 6 lety +1

      Phen0mable that’s a good shout to be fair. I wonder how much power it would produce?

    • @Phen0mable
      @Phen0mable Před 6 lety +2

      more than ST. 2,0 zetes S 148bhp after remap gives 211bhp

    • @TheThreeCylinders
      @TheThreeCylinders  Před 6 lety +1

      Phen0mable that’s quite a big jump! Although the 182 in this model is adequate, it’s not quite enough!

    • @Phen0mable
      @Phen0mable Před 6 lety +3

      thats correct. ST is also remappable but to me it's a bit steep with the price. For 11 grand ou can get zetec S 66 plate and remap it for few 100 and you get same car really
