Or instead of cutting your finger take the key out and put a 3.2 mm flat blade screwdriver in the hole they put in to do this... It's on the opposite side to where you used the knife and if you look at the open key you can see the guide where the driver goes though. There are videos that show this on CZcams if these instructions don't make sense.

I’m glad I read this comment before I watched the video, as someone who uses screwdrivers for a living it makes so much more sense and is probably easier let alone safer and will leave no visible marks on the key unlike trying to jimmy it with a kitchen knife

Habe heute zuerst die "offizielle" Version mit dem Schraubendreher in die Notschlüsselöffnung stecken und drehen versucht, allerdings ohne Erfolg. Habe dann diese Version mit einem schmalen, flachen Schraubendreher versucht, schon ging es direkt auf. Vielen Dank für den Tip.

This method is a 1000 times better than the official one. Use a very small flat blade jeweller's screwdriver rather than knife for safety reasons.

Guys this Way with knife is dangerous and wrong.
Step 1: take out the key from the place where it sits.
Step 2: take a small size screwdriver the flat one and gently find it a tin canal from entrance where the key is going in and than that canal it is towards out.
Step 3: once the screwdriver is in that canal,it is Like on 2.5cm depth twist a quarter of circle and push the screwdriver towards the lid,lik you would Like to OPEN it from inside out.
That is the only Way.

Ich habs mit einem kleinen, schmalen Schraubenzieher probiert.Ich bin abgerutscht und in der Hand gelandet.Mit Wunde/Blut.
Messer:ist schmal genug um in die Ritze reinzukommen.Dann gedreht-super.
Fazit:Das Video ist ein 10-Sterne-Video.Besser gehts nicht.Unbedingt Messer benutzen, nicht fest reindrücken, nur sachte.Dann drehen

Truco: usa un cuchillo afilado y cuidadosamente introducirlo por la hendidura del filo para abrirlo haciendo palanca lateral por el lado en el que esta la llave que se puede extraer. Es más sencillo de lo que parece.
Trick: use a sharp knife and carefully insert it through the slit of the cutting edge to open it by levering the lateral side of the key that can be removed. It is easier than it seems to be.
Trick: Verwenden Sie ein scharfes Messer und führen Sie es vorsichtig durch den Schlitz der Schneide, um es zu öffnen, indem Sie die seitliche Seite des Schlüssels hebel. Es ist nich compliziert

This is the brainless method to open the key case. Sure, you can use a hammer or dynamite as well to open the key and change the battery. With a knife you only risk to make ugly scratches on your key. It's much easysier to use a screwdriwer to open the key from inside.
