Hi Diana, It looks like you are drumming up a lot of new cousins here. I too descend from Francisco. He is my maternal 10th GGFather. Your video was great. I recently went to Sevilla researching my father's side so coming across your history was somewhat familiar to me. Once again... Well done prima!
Thanks Andy!!
Hello! I loved your video. I am also a descendant of Francisco Montoya. Did you receive the book, 'La Familia Montoya Desde Cantillana Espana hasta New Mexico' compiled by Elvira Montoya Martinez and Josina Montoya Jiron? The book has all of our descendants from Francisco Montoya to some of us 13th generation Montoyas! It is very precise and accurate. There are photos and a lot of other information. Much love.
Where do we get a copy of the book? Thanks for leaving your comment!
Were can I get a copy of the book. Thank you
@@CoolandSweetPopcicle Sorry, I'm just seeing this ~ two years later. I haven't been able to contact Elvira to find more books, but I can see what it costs to copy...the book is enormous!
@@gregmontoya3320 I will check into copying costs and let y'all know =)
@@lilianamcsween8128 Thank you!
Hello, was able to trace my ancestry back to Francisco Montoya who is my 11th great-grandfather. The last ancestor who had the Montoya name is my 2nd great-grandfather Veneslado Montoya Chavez from New Mexico. Nice to come here and find distant cousins. I'm in the Los Angeles area as my grand parents and great-grandparents came to Los Angeles, CA from New Mexico in the1940's.
2:23 Francisco died in 1575 in Sante Fe. His son was born in 1572 which means his son was only 3 years old when he died in Santa Fe.
Hi Fellow Montoya! No wonder I love going to Seville and Cadiz all the time!
_Hello!! I'm only 16 I don't know much of my history but have always been told that we are descendants from Francisco de Montoya too!!_
hello brother
Francisco De Montoya is my 14th great grandfather. My nana's maiden name was Montoya. We are traveling to this region for a wedding next year so I am hoping to visit this city! Thank you!
Wow!! Interesting my relatives are Montoya’s from Peña Blanca.
Montoya such a common last name
The name of Francisco’s wife is unknown. Where did you get Maria Lopez from? Any other sources to prove this other than public family trees on Ancestry and Familysearch?
In Mexico my family last name is Montoya and it's has a lil crazy history they use to be powerful there but idk if it's related to this
I’m a Montoya
My name is Greg Montoya, our Grandfather was born in Tularosa, New Mexico, around 1875. How did you arrived at being related to Francisco de Montoya.
Thank you
Hi Diana, I am also a descendant of Franscisco and Bartolomeo. My dad was born in Pena Blanca. Thank you for sharing this video! Did you discover any long lost relatives there?
No, we were just visiting sites... not doing research. Nice to meet you cuz.
Thanks cuz! ;-) Very cool video! Where are you now?
We're in Santa Barbara, CA
Please reach out to me so I can clean up my family tree. There are several pieces of different information that I’m seeing.
Does this mean all of us in the comments are cousins??? Thats kind of cool
Nice video! My Ancestry DNA has many Montoya and Saavedra family members as distant cousins. Sad thing is that I don’t know many family members from New Mexico because my grandfather moved to California after WWII.
Hello my name is celia montoya my father is francisco montoya are from Lima Peru
We are related we hAve trace our family to bartolome. We just found my great great grandpa Juan Domingo Montoya fought the Texans in the civil war New Mexico. Google my grandpas name
Hi Diana,
My name is Ryan and I am also a descendant of Bartolome Montoya. My mother is from Espanola, NM. I am looking for a way to get to Cantillana from Seville and am curious as to how you got there.
Thanks!
I'm not sure I understand the question. To get to Cantillana from Sevilla get in a car and follow the highways on your GPS...
How did you know that they are your ancestors? Does your family preserve historic documents or did you make a research on those genealogy web sites? This is so interesting. Very probably i am one of the descendants of them too. I remember in somewhere i read that the first Montoya's in continent America settled in New Mexico. And through time the descendants were migrating towards the south.
We've been doing research on Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.com
Hello fellow Montoya's, im wondering how one would go about tracing there family history?
We've been doing research on Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.com
Same last name lol
I have a different person as Franiscos wife
How nice, how about doing your DNA Ancestry, and posting it just cuts all the BS most people ,say they are Spanish .
And they paste this last names and cities to Spain where their 13th or 15 generation relatives came from
What happened to rest of your ancestors,I doubt they were all pure blooded Spaniards
All talk!! like most New Mexican Ancestry they come from Native Americans from Mexico, Pueblo Natives and Spanish blood
