For the seconde requirement, the recent bill showing the address, can it be a picture copy or does it have to be the physical actual bill?
Also, we rent... so the bill will be in the owner/landlord's name. Do you know if this will suffice?

Hi @PlanFree They did want the actual physical/original bill, but I'm almost positive a color copy of the original should suffice [I brought in a color print out of my Telmex bill] and it does not need to be in your name at all. At minute 5:05 they just had me sign a document that affirmed this was truly my address [presumably because most bills won't be in the tenants' name]. I hope that helps! 😊
I just became a dual citizen and I'm trying to get an RFC but I dont have a address yet. I wonder if this will prevent me from getting an RFC.
Is that RFC good for life? How do you print,out the CURP?

How long does it take to get the email with the scheduled appointment? I requested appointment through their website and they sent me an email saying….I am in a virtual queue waiting an appointment.

Can you use your INE w your prove of address in Mexico
So you need a utility bill to get an RFC but utilities now are requiring an RFC to open a utility account? Hmmmm
I never thought about that! The irony is ridiculous. 🤣 Great point! We just happen to have a utility bill that didn't require an RFC be placed on it.
Proof of address in Mexico or in the USA
Can AirBNB booking be used as proof of address or is there any other alternative for Proof of Address for new TR holders
Hi @CheckOut I haven't heard of AirBnB bookings being accepted as valid proof of address, as of yet. Maybe reach out to your host [or a friend in the area] and see if they can allow you to use a utility bill of theirs for your appointment; you could always change your address with SAT at a later date. (it could be their CFE bill, Wifi bill, water bill, etc.) I hope that helps!

Hey! Yes, that should be acceptable. Your name doesn’t need to necessarily be on the bill. Around minute 5:05 you’ll see that they will just have you write out and sign a declaration attesting to the fact that it is honestly your address; and that’s it.

Same day appointments may be very hard to come by, unless you pay a facilitator for assistance (who may know someone at your preferred office). Most appointments however have been taking several weeks, in my experience.

Hi Mehdi. No matter what qualified you for temporary residency, getting an RFC may solely be dependent upon the SAT office you go to in Mexico. Some offices issue them to temporary residents and some only issue them to permanent residents. I would just double check with your preferred SAT office prior to your scheduled appointment. This is worst bureaucracy than in China to get just RFC
So...my Spanish is elementary AT BEST. DO you think I could complete this process alone? How did you understand what to put in the computer when that step came up. I would imagine everything was in Spanish. Did the staff at the office speak any English? or were there instructions in English anywhere? What office did you go to ? Thank you. Great Vid
Hey Tracy! As long as you remain patient and kind with yourself and the officials at the office, I think you would have absolutely no problem completing the process on your own...even with elementary-ish Spanish. My go-to Spanish phrase if I don't understand something/someone is "mas despacio por favor" and they tend to get the picture, and respond accordingly. Although no one spoke English at the Cancun office I went to, everyone was kind and extremely patient with me; as I was with them. And when google translate [or all else] failed, hand gestures were a huge help.
I have heard of individuals in other parts of Mexico actually bringing in a translator with them, if you want to try that route. Every office is different in what they allow for. When they took your photo was it similar to the temporary residence biometric, where you had to remove earrings?
@lindamuniz5848 You know, I didn't realize it until just now but no. Great question. It was just a regular photo; the lady didn't ask anything special but for me to look at the camera. But "rules" tend to change every time you blink here, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's just dependent on the day you go or the person you get for your photo. I hope that helps!

I noticed on your ticket it had *casos especiales... is this the option you picked for your appointment? This is an extremely important piece of info as I have witnessed people getting rejected because of picking the wrong box for their appointment and losing their appointment...
My followup question if you did indeed chose casos especiales is... why? I'm in the same boat. Temp res. But, I dont know why the 0bvious choice wouldnt just be the normal persons over 18 category rather than the "special cases" .... if you could let me know I think that would be a great help.

I mentioned it in the previous video walking you through how to make an appointment for an RFC: czcams.com/video/uiLZTHd7r5M/video.html [minute 5:54] I did indeed select "casos especiales" for my appointment at my particular SAT office. I do know that every office is different in what they require, however, so I can't say that will be the case for everyone. How did I know to select that particular drop down option for my office? Before making the appointment at my preferred SAT office, I physically went in to the office and spoke with the officials outside the office and let them know what I was trying to do and had them write it down on a piece of paper EXACTLY what I needed to do/select online in order to make the appointment. I couldn't help but notice you mentioned that you received an email from the sat office, as of today I just was removed from the bad boy list for missing my appointment, but I actually never got an email, which is strange because I do get the token emails, so not sure why I don't get the other email. Did you set up a profile on the sat office prior to this, I was even checking my junk folder as well, but so nothing. Who knows I suppose
@genegagne4889 Yea, that's odd. No, I never set up a profile with them prior to getting on the waiting list or securing my appointment. But as long as your spot on the waiting list or new appointment is confirmed, you should be fine. They will also have your name on a list for the day at the SAT office of your appointment. Hi Cecilia! 😊 You are indeed correct; the proof of address you use does not need to be in your name, at all. And to answer your other question; my husband did not go in with me to my appointment. Some offices, though, will allow a translator or a support person to go in with you, if you prefer. Some can be particular about it though; so we didn't even try. I hope that helps!

Hi, what are the main reasons for getting an RFC, is it mandatory, does that mean that you now have to pay taxes in Mexico? Thanks
Hi @p.c.h.6721 One of the main reasons to get an RFC is to get a bank account here in Mexico. Other reasons may include: buying/selling property, setting up utilities, and getting government refunds from SAT; among other things. And nope, that doesn't necessarily mean you need to pay taxes if you have an RFC. I hope that helps!
