Doug is a great guy, I emailed him years ago asking for help with my drug addiction. He still keeps in touch today and meets me at a local backstreet and asks me for money. I already donate on streams but I don't mind giving him more money because he's a good guy and he gives me cool gifts in return like salt and flour packets.

I can’t imagine actually leaving my email open to fans, I’d be too stressed to ever read them! People must send some really heavy stuff… Doug is a person too and it must be upsetting reading all of those stories, let alone replying
It's very much why a lot of content creators give up on answering them all when they get popular. I can't ever blame them, it gets way too mentally taxing.
A streamer I follow has to semi regularly ask people not to send him stuff like that because it affects his own mental health. It's made me a lot more aware of what I say to people you know?
This is why Jerry exists. To screen emails, forward the good ones to you, handle simple requests. Handling emails is something you can't do because it takes too much time. If Jerry uses his time to make your time browsing emails more efficient, you can still do it. The issue isn't the activity, it's the time cost. Let Jerry hook you up.

Honestly yea, that's why some people do P.O boxes and stuff while leaving emails as a business thing. I couldn't imagine chat sending ME emails, I'd be terrified to open any letters.
Fans are still gonna write emails, because its way cheaper and faster. Only a small fraction of them actually send a letter and the only form of reply those letters get will be a stream or video.
Fans will write to your business mail and you can't change that. Especially kids.

Honestly making a email SPECIFICALLY for it to be read out and replied to twitch chat would probably be pretty hilarious. Make it abundantly clear with a totally different address what it is for. Chat has like a 1 in 50 chance whatever they type gets put into the email.

I feel like the issue there is that if they're emailing Doug, they probably want Doug's response, which he said. I think he feels it would be devaluing to a viewer if their email was deemed unfit for his response.
I think the thing that makes Doug such a standout as a streamer is how he actually talks directly to his viewers, more than just a few sentences here and there but full on conversations. He's a good egg.
You could do an auto-response thing that says "Sorry, I don't have time to reply to all o my emails, but I do read all of them, and I appreciate the feedback" or something like that.

Seems like he has not yet come to terms with the idea that since he is *already* not able to respond to anyone via E-mail it's better to hire someone to figure out who/what is worth his time and what isn't. The other person doesn't need to reply *as* him, they need to determine who he does and does not reply to/read and then send back "Thanks for ur time but no" responses to everyone else. If you trust the person helping you enough you *could* optimise this further by having them actually reply for you after you've read it to save on time "Okay yeah tell this person x about my y z" if it's not something that requires a personally crafted message, for example people asking about his future plans or giving suggestions etc "just tell them I appreciate the idea, thanks" and so on.
E-mails are extremely easily delegatable so long as there is a mutually understood system in place. You can write a letter to the president but nobody is under the impression that they personally are going to read every single one, even though there is a *chance* that they may if it is good enough. There is a whole team of people who are delegated in a chain to deal with it.
