    Do you have to reinstall windows 10 if you just slap in a 2TB ssd drive?

    Does that mean it has 12 gb ram over all now, because this still runs a bit slow?

    Frimley, do you know how much RAM the laptop take I want to be super sure before I order a stick of RAM and what model and brand is the SSD used in the video too?

    Would this still be a viable option for 2023? Or there better replacement parts now?

      well adding a SSD to your laptop and taking out the old drive I'm not exactly sure but adding the extra 8gb memory is fairly easy and simple! I found a Crucial RAM 8GB DDR4 2666 MHz CL19 Laptop Memory CT8G4SFRA266 similar to the one in the video if I'm correct for 23.53 U.S Dollars.

    I see a lot of videos of people replacing the hdd for a ssd in this laptop. Why not just adding it to the free bay additional port and have both?? Some reason behind?

      I think that changing your main drive from an hhd to an ssd speeds up your system quite a bit. If anything I would switch to the ssd as my main drive to boot windows and such and keep the hhd for storage.

      @@EDDY30100 That's what I meant, why many people don't keep the hdd for storage. They just remove it

      @chemyshkin thats an excellent idea but you need to install an additional adaptor to the cd bay in order to connect the ssd to the motherboard. there are videos here in youtube showing how to do it. its not in english but you can figure out from watching the video and the specs of the adaptor is in the video description. end result a dual drive ssd+hdd setup..

    Helpful video ☺️, also how did you decide between brands of ssd WD , Crucial , Samsung etc ?

      @FrimleyComputing  Před 2 lety +2

      That's a good question. My choice is based on price & warranty. WD Blue come with 5 years warranty so I normally use those. Recently Crucial MX500 drives are lower cost so I've also been using those, with 3 years warranty.

    Thanks for the video, you helped me a lot! I have a doubt now, I currently have the 330S with 1TB HDD + 16 GB Optane tech, I want to install a M.2 SDD for system and some programs, and leave files and the rest to the HDD. But the trouble is that the M.2 slot is the same where is installed the Optane, so I have to remove Optane memory if I want to install the SSD. It's actually better to have SSD + HDD, or HDD + Optane? Btw, i have dual boot with Windows and Ubuntu, not sure if that can be a element to consider. Thanks!
