- Hey guys! This video took me a bit longer than I thought because as ye well know, the spring time can be a bit unpredictable! But I hope that ye enjoy it and if anyone is looking for some volunteer work rearing calves then just give us a shout 😂

The jackets are the best ever.
Yes they're a great job altogether. The calves we put them on are flying it and haven't had a setback at all thankfully!

@@keanefamilyfarm I have been the same with a great man who helps us, he knows what he's at and never has to be told what to do. He just does it. Hence we haven't lost a calf that was born alive in 3 years. 2 or 3 still births every year but that's it.

Great to have nine neighbours ya once a day is handy i only bought calf jackets last year found them great
Oh we’re so blessed with great neighbours & friends. People are great for rowing in when you need them 😊 That’s good to hear, I wasn’t sure whether it was a good use of €300 but I think the calves are flying it with them on!
You guys seem to it all in hand. One bonus about having the calves spread out, you might find one set a calves might get on better in different area to where you had been keeping your replacement heifer calves
I think it’s all trial and error isn’t it - sometimes the best things you learn are from mistakes made 😅 That’s a great point actually, wouldn’t have even thought about that. Thank you 😊

will you reduce cow numbers in the future in case the same thing happens again having to rear all those calves .
Good point - I don’t think it’s on our radar for the moment with the financial obligations we have now (capital expenditure and new house build soon) but it is something we’d consider in the future 😊 We definitely won’t be going up cow numbers I’d say 🤣
