You Reap What You Sow ~Demeter's Demand~
An original song by Marlyn Desire
Track 3 of my Persephone album
I took the story of Persephone and made a mini album out of it using inspiration from the Homeric Hymn to Demeter and also excerpts from Ovid.

    This is brilliant.
Persephone, Hades and Demeter are my favorites of Greek mythology. 🌻
Your voice is lovely and the lyrics are so effective with telling the story.

I was reading about Hades & Persephone's myth, I fell in love with the story, I also read some Fics about the story and most of them put Demeter like a crazy beast, sometimes I agreed with that, until I read one that described her with so much sad and anger against Zeus and other gods who tried to "hurt" her daughter, she begged to Hades for help. Then the story turns like the rest of the myth said but that Fic made me take another point of view about Demeter. I truly love your song. Brilliant!

SNoemyyC I agree, I don’t think anybody really acted out of line in this story except for Zeus, Hades liked Persephone and asked for permission from her father to marry her which is a spot more than most do these days. And of course Demeter was sad and angry! She had no idea what was happening until AFTER it happened! And I’m a bit of a romantic so I like to think that Persephone and Hades really did fall in love and that’s why he gave her the pomegranate.

    too long without my daughter
    i heard her screams
    i rusher to her
nine days of searching for my daughter
but she was nowhere in sight
    nine days
    nine nights
with these torches in my hands
    ill make them understand
    a mothers rage
    cannot be
    tamed
they took her from my grasp
so ill turn all the crosp so ash
    i wont return
    till she retuns to me
    persephone
    it will not rain
    till i see her again
    do you hear their cries
    bring her back or theyll
    die
no one left to worship you
    i will bring your doom
    zeus
    listen to me
    return persephone
    do you hear me
    too long without my daughter
ist been too long without her here

I don't like it when people make demeter a villain it doesn't make sense only zeus was the ,,bad guy,,,

    • @MarlynDesire
      @MarlynDesire  Před 2 lety +3

Rather than a villain I tried to make her seem like a badass mother doing whatever it takes to get her daughter back. She’s putting Zeus in a corner and forcing him to get her daughter back, so she’s honestly a hero! But that’s just my interpretation 😉

I mean in the myth the ..bad guy.. was zeus and some vision also aphrodite
