    That valve on the fuel rail is so you can attach a fuel pressure gauge to it to test your fuel pressure. You should install an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, so you can adjust your fuel pressure for performance. And those missing clips are because most people look at it and see that the rails are bolted down so there is no way for the injectors to pull out.

    I rebuilt mine about 15 years ago, but I polished my runner's and painted in between the polished ridge's to match the block (polished by hand). Looks real good when final installed on the motor. I hope you replaced all the O rings when you rebuilt it, other wise you'll be taking it back apart because if fuel leaks.

    Considering that injectors are on my upgrade list, this is top end refresh is going to be really helpful. Thanks Chris

    Chris you need to get a remote Mic. So that we can hire you when you set the camera down. 😎

    Those are Bosch 3 injectors and thus they don't take the OEM C4 clip, which is why it doesn't have them. Also you are supposed to use a backup wrench on the nut on the fuel rail when loosening or tightening the fuel lines. I'd run a datalog via a laptop to check what the BLM's are to make sure those injectors aren't running to fat or lean.

    What about the fitting at the rear left that the cold start line goes into. I am trying to replace the o ring and they keep ripping, am I over tightening it?

    Can i delete the fuel return line on a 93 corvette's lt1 and use a later Ls1 style filter/regulater ? Those have rhe return on the same unit.

  • @boomstick68
    @boomstick68 Před 3 lety +1

    Should have replaced the o rings on the fuel rail and fuel lines......and also on the cold start injector line and injector. Those are available. My tubes that connect the fuel rails were corroded at the rims/edges and I had to replace my whole fuel rail. Keep it up... also, www.fuelinjectorconnection.com for correct injectors for our C4's.....

    Great eye opening video. My '88 C4 has 216,000 miles. It will no longer pass California smog. I threw various parts at the car with little or no improvement. I never even considered the fuel injectors as a culprit. The engine runs so strong I assumed the injectors must be ok. Also, no codes are set. The injectors are factory original. Maybe it's time to open my eyes (and wallet) a little and put a set of new injectors in that car.

    • @mycorvettelife
      @mycorvettelife  Před 3 lety

      Does CA smog tel you why it didn’t pass?

    • @GregSr
      @GregSr Před 3 lety

      @@mycorvettelife Yes. I kept a copy of the test results. It's been tested multiple times at two different smog stations. So I know it's the car and not the test equipment. The NOX failed with a reading of 1595 PPM. Max allowed is 545 PPM. That's at 15 MPH. The 25 MPH also fails but not as bad. The HC also fails with a reading of 122 PPM, max allowed is 78 PPM. I was told a new converter would not help the NOX.

    Do the taller injectors affect the fitting of the fuel rail and neighboring components? I wonder if a new section of fuel lines is needed to reach the higher position of the rail.

      From what I can tell, they fit fine with no interference.

    Hello Chris, I hope you can give me some advise on my 86 corvettes cold start injector. I wanted to delete it do you recommend? I can not get it started in the morning I have already replace the tps and mass air flow censor. Thank you for any help. God bless!

    • @mycorvettelife
      @mycorvettelife  Před 2 lety +1

      I wouldn’t. I doubt that is the source of the problem. Have you checked fuel pressure?

      I’m having same issues. Just replaced my coolant sensor and about to replace my air charge sensor under the upper plenum. Both can cause this condition.

    One thing I find strange about this video is when you are putting the fuel rail back together right after painting them. That there are no orings on the crossover tubes. My guess is the orings were stuck in the rails which is why they aren't on the tubes. Or maybe the orings got put on after shooting the video.

    • @mycorvettelife
      @mycorvettelife  Před 2 lety

      If I remember right, the o-rings were in the rails. It definitely had o-rings or it would have leaked like crazy.
