  • Lots of fun to be had with the Bushman knives from cold steel. The OG is my most used but the mini is pretty awesome IMO also, but hard to find bow days. The bowie isn't too far removed from the original, just a bit more width with the same length and thickness.

Thanks for this. I'm a big fan of the Bushman knives myself, and like you, I have a bunch of them. I really wish they would bring back the mini, 'caue I'd get a bunch of those too! I settled on a similar solution for a guard, except that I use paracord and epoxy. I really like the fatwood plug idea - really inenious! Can you say where you got the sheaths? Thse would make a huge difference.

I bought my first CS Bushman in 2001. I also have a few of them. But not the mini.
Have you seen the Condor Matagi?
    It’s my favorite “spear” knife.
I don’t think it’s made any longer, but worth it if you can find one.
The Matagi mini is my main bushcraft knife.

I have one of the first mini Bushman blades made and it is still a fantastic razorblade.for hunting. It was a mistake for CS to discontinue them .
You have really nice leather sheaths for such inexpensive knives. Thanks for your video and all the best.

" I bought 4 of the non - Bowie blade, from Cold Steel, as factory seconds, for $12.00 each. The were advertised as having "only cosmetic blemishes, not effecting the safety or performance of the knives". All 4 plastic sheaths had the little retaining clips, already popped out in the packaging, leaving No retention for the knife. I bought flexible cutting boards from Dollar Tree, and made plastic wraps the shape of the blades and slid them into the sheaths, giving surprisingly good retention ( easily, cheaply replaceable). I bought screw eyes( which let's you attach paracord, to prevent loss) to secure any handle, without tools, and attached them to the handle holes with reusable wire bread ties. I added a small cable tie to the ferro rod, as extra retention, and hooked it under the bottom of the ferro rod holder. Great, versatile , survival blades "

Bought my bushman for around 40 bucks. I live outside the US, so they bake in the shipping cost I think. It's a good tool, and a cool looking blade if you wanna put it in your collection showcase 👍👍

i have old one ( cordura sheath) love it. are newer just as good? sadly there is no way to get mini bushman for decent price ...Edit; I spy one little but very useful plant in background (broadleaf plantain) , very useful when dealing with bug bits, smaller surface wounds, works good raw or processed in ointment or salve.

I'm assuming a friction fit will hold them good if a screw isn't an option, debating on ordering one or two
