("samurai" is means serve ) After that, the samurai gradually had their own territory (country) and army, and the shogun was the samurai chosen to represent them. The emperor theoretically had a higher status, but the samurai, led by the shogun, had greater military power. At the beginning of the story the Shogun has more power than the Emperor until TAKAUJI betrays them.
i really wasnt expecting the change of atmosphere this anime did ngl. from this first episode alone they did a good job at balancing seriousness and humor; idk how they made it work so well but they did it, also the animation is so gorgeous too

Ashikaga takauji Was a real dude that created the Ashikaga shogunate, so let see how the story goes, because irl he died at 53 and his son succeded him, lets wait to see if this is an alternate history anime or is gonna be atragedy
I expect this to be in the top 5 highest rated "new animes of this season" in 12 weeks. Episode 1 was a pleasant surprise to be sure and CloverWorks really went off. Very much looking forward to the rest of the season.
The manga is ok. The children are actually very boring themselves so even tho i'm sure people will watch it... I feel like it will lose very quickly in popularity 😮💨
@@foggyfrogy agree that the kids are pretty boring (most of the characters too, lowkey, since most of them are historical figures not og characters) but the fights are pretty interesting and its a fun rundown of historical battles in that era. I think it'll probably fall off the large mainstream but it should maintain a pretty good following as long as the anime keeps the quality up.
Japan’s history see the shogun Ashikaga Takauji and Kusunoki Masashige as heroes. The manga’s twist, showing the last stand of a prince from a wiped-out country and his samurais, is incredibly interesting.. But without knowledge of the original history, there would be no element of surprise. hope the anime can convey its awesomeness.

The political situation at the start of this series is fairly complicated and involves multiple, nested layers of puppet rulers. In theory, the ruler of Japan is the Emperor. The Shogun is specifically the samurai. But because the samurai basically just are the military, the Emperor has become a puppet of the Shogunate. However, the Shogun is himself a puppet ruler, with real power belonging to the Shikken (regent), who is almost always a member of the Hōjō family. Tokiyuki's father is not actually the current Shikken, but he's the head of the Hojo family and therefore the real ruler of Japan. Of course, as you can see, he's increasingly a puppet for his own advisors. There are at this point in Japanese history actually two imperial families, and the Hojo family keeps them weak and divided by constantly switching which family is on the throne. The current emperor, Go-Daigo, refused to abdicate at the Hojos' order, and launched a war to restore power to the emperor. The Hojos sent an army under Takauji Ashikaga to subdue the emperor, but Takauji switched sides. So now the emperor is in charge again and Takauji is his top general.
Emperor < Shogun < Sikken The Hojo clan is the family that heirs the Sikkens. The Shogunate made the emperor a puppet. Sikkens made shogun a puppet Anime "Sikken is a puppet"

The successors of the Hojo clan never became Shogun. Instead, they held the title of "Shikken," the regent of the Kamakura Shogunate. For a long time, the Emperor was merely a puppet of the Shogun. In turn, the Shogun was a puppet of the Hojo clan's Shikken. Even a Shikken like Tokiyuki's father was manipulated by his own servants. The megalomaniacal Emperor Go-Daigo grew tired of this puppet show and aspired to be a true ruler. The Emperor's ambition influenced Takauji, who then awakened the plans for the Muromachi Shogunate. This was the trigger for a chaotic tragedy.
So, my understanding about the differences of Emperor vs Shogun, is that the Emperor of Japan is like the king (is from a noble family line), and the Shogun is the general of the army. And at times in japanese history, the emperor was just a puppet, and the Shogun actually had the real power (Tokugawa's Shogunate for example).
Historical manga don't really get a good response in Japan, but maybe people overseas might appreciate the good points of this work. Look forward to the next episode of "The Kind Old Man" being so evil.
Man I am soooooo glad this series is being picked up by people, considering it was a Shounen Jump series I was surprised how little reception it got. Personally I think Season 1 will definately be worth the watch should they keep up the quality of animation!

鎌倉時代が武家の時代、その前の時代にあたる平安時代が貴族の時代といったように、天皇が実際に権力を振るった時代は実は多くないです。
しかしながら、日本がww2で敗戦するまで天皇が日本の皇帝であるという事実は変わりませんでした。そのためたとえ侍が武力で天皇を上回っても天皇には気を遣いました。
大名が迂闊に天皇に刃を向けようものなら、日本の皇帝に逆らったという大義名分で他の大名から攻撃されるリスクがあります。
天皇という身分と天皇が敷いた行政制度は海外の方はもとより日本人であっても理解が難しい側面があります。

1200年代後半に日本はモンゴルと大きな戦争をしましたが、その時にモンゴル軍は対馬の民間人を生きたまま壁に縛り付け、弓矢の盾としましたが、武士は捕虜を助ける事はせず、一切躊躇う事なくモンゴル軍諸共弓矢で殺害し、モンゴル軍を恐怖で震え上がらせた事実があります。更に、武士はモンゴル軍の戦い方を知る為に、わざと対馬を攻め落とさせました。鎌倉は対馬に一切の援助をせず、モンゴル軍が民間人を殺して奴隷にするのを、ずっと観察し続けただけでした。ゴーストオブツシマはこれを元に作られました。
このアニメは1333年が舞台で、多少はマシになったものの、下級の武士は野盗と何も変わりませんでした。
