Defective spark plugs on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R SE?

- Received yet another memo from Kawasaki Malaysia to bring @RideWithVee 's ZX-25R for another recall. This time it's to replace the spark plugs!
Apparently a certain batch of the spark plugs were defective and could cause misfiring, so the directive from Kawasaki HQ Japan was to replace them.

hi, just some noob curios guy here. i wonder if you plan to fine tune and dyno the zx25r since you change the exhaust. i am not an expert but, i've heard that if you change the exhaust, the air fuel ratio will also change which is not a good thing. i also wonder how much power this bike could produce if it is unrestricted. Because some bike like zx6r 2024(which is my fav😊)have been restrict due to euro 5 law. I have seen zx6r change exhaust then got dyno tune. So i just wonder what would be the case for zx25r.
Hi! I plan to take the 25R to the dyno after I swap out the air filter to DNA one. From there we will see what's the current status will be, being a slip-on I don't believe it will be heavily impacted compared to a full system change.
I did change the exhaust (also just a slip-on) on my 2012 6R before and dyno run it, no issues except running bit rich, so tuner didn't recommend to have it tuned up, of course as the owner you can always choose to tune it if you wanted to.
Euro 5 laws is mostly emissions and sound control, so they need to put a lot of dampening and catalytic converter element to meet the regulations, removing all that does change the overall exhaust flow so probably best to dyno run first to check the current status then decide if tuning is needed.
Bought a new zx10r 2023 last year. Never reached a year of usage and the mileage was under 8k, my bike got misfiring issues too. Had to change to new spark plugs after that. Now it’s running fine but I’m a bit gutted lah bcs I have to pay for the spark plugs even tho it’s still under warranty.
Sorry to hear that! At least it's running good now. Did they mention why it was not covered under warranty?
@@thesighbored Contacted kawaski careline today, they said “oh spark plug tk cover dalam warranty, sama macam tayar” 🙄
@@hairilnazari4371 Mileage dah berapa sebelum diagnose issue spark plug? I can understand if like you used it for a long time and it wear out, that's normal. Macam tayar pakai lama dah botak memang tak boleh claim. Tapi kalau baru pakai like a week or something, tayar ada belon (structure tayar rosak) itu kira defect bukan sebab wear and tear. Maybe you should try to submit a claim to the tribunal pengguna.

Yes they had it last year 2023 but now it's replaced by silver/blue scheme. The black looked more grey though. Over here in Malaysia, there is only the Special Edition and RR version available, the RR is ONLY race green. For SE the body price is almost MYR 34,000 before OTR.

Since the recall was free, I didn't know the price. I'll find out next time.

Ada beberapa service center yang buat process recall ini. Recall ini tak melibatkan semua ZX25R, hanya serial tertentu saja. Kalau nak kepastian, boleh tanya kedai dealer yang jual motor kepada kamu, atau contact careline Kawasaki Malaysia untuk check.
Kawasaki Modenas have a lot of manufacturing, assembly and production issues.
For the ZX-25R these issues are not caused by Modenas, these are issues with bike chassis/spark plug, hence directive from Kawasaki Japan to perform the recall.
