    I have just purchased a second hand M240 with a summicron 50 mm lens. After years with my (still used) DSLR I am rediscovering the joy of photography and learning to take photographs in an (almost) analogue way. My ambition is to shoot as much as possible without the screen and have the sense of anticipation I used to get whilst waiting to develop my film camera shots

    Tip 5. The Leica M - D is a great idea, gutsy for a camera company to make, fantastic for brewing passion. Thank you Leica. I have one on order.

It seems to fit right in with my M3, M2, and M6 Classic especially the part about not really knowing what you have until you get home. Today will be my first day out with it!

    Film Leica cameras are amazing, love my m3s and my m6s. That being said this has to do with more on how to take photographs in general and not anything about Leica specifically.

    • @marc6652
      @marc6652 Před 3 lety

      Right and wrong.
      When I shoot with my M 262, I don't feel the same as when I shoot with my X-10S. Thus, I don't look around me the same way, and consecutively, I don't take the same pictures.

      @@nickfanzo Why do you take pictures ? Just to go back home with some images to save on your computer ? Not me.
      The journey is very often more important than the destination.

    • @nickfanzo
      @nickfanzo Před 3 lety

      @@marc6652 you’re missing the point. When you use a camera, people notice you. When you use a phone, it is socially accepted. Cameras are not accepted as a whole like they were 60 years ago. Back then a camera was a way to take your photos, professional or casual, or family shots. People didn’t care to see a camera like they do now, because every laymen had one for their own photos; now people have phones for that, hence phones are more accepted socially in public.
      Also some amazing photojournalism was shot on an iPhone. Libyan sugar for example.
      In the end we use the tools we want to use, out of our own psychological impression, not because one is better than the other. And consumerism and psychological selling methods help control to that.

      My pleasure is not to be the more efficient, but to maximize my pleasure when shooting. And that's not with a smartphone. That's with a M camera.

    wow that was kinda like watching a journeyman carpenter give a lecture on the proper use of a hammer ie. hit the nail and not the fingers, keep your hammer clean, avoid distractions while hitting the nail on the head, don't over extend the distance between the nail and the hammer and have a first aid kit nearby should you fail on any of the aforementioned tips.

    I disagree with Mr. Daniel's advice to keep your M10 turned ON all the time. If I'm shooting five shots of the same subject, I'll keep my M10 ON for all five shots. After that, I'll shut it off. I'll admit, however, that I do usually have my Leica EVF attached. The EVF WILL drain your battery if you're not careful. Having your M10's battery die unexpectedly is a terrible thing.
