- Dooky Chase was founded by Emily and Dooky Chase, and their daughter-in-law, award-winning chef Leah Chase, took over with her husband in 1945. While it's known for all of its creole menu items, it's most known for its gumbo and Shrimp Clemenceau.

Rest In Peace. I remember watching her on bon appetit almost 3 years ago. She was so charming!
Satanic Peach old age probably
Faiz Khalifa she passed. I wish I had met her
I'm so sad she died, RIP :(

@@janneplayz2370 Ms. Leah Chase, who was probably the most famous chef in New Orleans. Her food was legendary.
Being Asian & never been to the states I would love to try southern cuisine. It somehow reminds me of the type of cooking that a grandma would make for her grandchildren. Homely, filling and delicious.
That's precisely what it is. I think New Orleans would be a great place to visit. It's Southern and it has a blend of other cultures, as the video mentioned.
It's delicious on occasion but extremely unhealthy and yes alot of our food came from slaves who made do with what they had. I'm grateful to have had a lot of this cuisine but its bit meant to be consumed everyday.
It's probably one of the most interesting US cuisines.
Bing chilling
There's way better styles of American food. Such as Alaskan
Amazing Place & Woman. So Blessed to have had the gumbo there served to Me by Mrs. Chase herself! Love Love Love she had Us try her Gumbo!!! Felt like home & then some. So sad she's gone but Her memory lives on through Her Food, Family & Love.
I grew up right across the street from dooky chase in the lafitte project
@RESPECT MY AUTHORITY dooky chase is not expensive at all. Thats the best part good food that won't hurt your pockets.
@@blackwolfbloodysmile idgaf hurt my pockets I'm I'm tryna eat
that shrimp looks good, wth .... must have.
My first trip to New Orleans it was a goal of mine to meet Mrs. Chase, since that time I’ve had the honor of meeting her 3 times I was so sad to hear of her passing. If you are ever down there and you get a chance it’s worth the stop.
If only I could visit there. Everything in Dooky Chase's menu is good as heck!!
RIP Leah Chase 🙏🏽
When your restaurant has been featured on a Disney anime and even a Ray Charles song, you know you got it made! It truly is a Princess and the Frog ending moment! Congrats to this place for 70 years of rich legacy and delicious food, and hopefully 70 more to come! 😀😀😀
Hope to make a foodie trip there someday 🙂
Love these videos! The food is so good, keep it up ❤️
That dish looks like shrimp vesuvio, which sounds amazing. Im definitely trying to make that at home. Peas are underrated.
The food looks amazing!
I looooovvvvveeeee Creole and Cajun food but i live in Asia and the only way i can enjoy it is to make it my own, and still it tastes so delicious. Imagine being to eat what the professional made
Cajun food is creole food there's literally no difference

Amazing content
The food is awesome!
Used to love boiling frying, deep frying throwing them in the fryer. Usually was a fire.
Never ate a frog or toad but pretty fun to cook Alive a couple decades ago.
Ahh I was literally drooling 🤤 while watching this!
Yum 😋...
Princess and the frog is my fave Disney movie 🍿 hands down
She was a real one and everyone knew it too..
This is soul food

A bunch of haters in comments but you clicked on video! Salute to a long family business that has gotten recognized by great people!🍴😋
You already should know any video that shows African Americans in a positive light and not showing the usual propaganda of African Americans acting like low lifes triggers at a highest of levels a certain group of ignorant people.
The name Dooky is funny. But the foods are amazing! I miss New Orleans foods. I grew up in New Orleans when I was a year old.....Love it.
looks delicious, too bad I'm in cali and too broke to travel.
I dont think it could be that expensive to travel to New Orleans
As long as you don't come during Mardi Gras or around a major festival like Jazz Fest or Voodoo Fest, coming from Cali is not expensive. I'm from Los Angeles so I have become pretty great at finding good flight deals when I visit from NOLA.
Rip MS Leah Chase
since i’ve watched little tiana made her gumbo, i always wonder how it would taste. afterwatching this video, i wish i could ☹️ everything is expensive af esp when you’re from Philippines
As an asian i love southern cuisine. I think a lot of Asians do
Wow
I’m 💯per cent New Orleans creole Leah’s daughter looks very familiar my family name is Saulet I’m sure I’ve seen her before or a darn good look alike!

One day I hope to go there california food is good but its alot of tacos lol
To_know.the_questions o.o lmao yeah you do, New Orleans is the best food city in the US hands down. California has nothing on Louisiana when it comes to food.
Lol that's basically it. Not much else good
I love Creoles.
I want to try gambo.
It's gumbo, delicious.

Lol you don’t eat the strawberry with the shrimp. It’s just a garnish
She's the kind person of person who will tell you how to fly a rocket to the moon even tho, she's never flown a rocket to the moon. What an Idiot.
Shabs Lopes Honestly curious how Food Insider finds their hosts because none of them are particularly interesting, knowledgeable or engaging
I think Creole cuisine is also Bourbon cuisine.

bruh chain
uh am gumbo oh i love it get into my mouth
Sorry. Who were the ones they showed when they said "actors"? I don't recognize any of them.
Guy all the way to the right is from tokyo drift or csi
Actors from NCIS New Orleans
Ooh thanks.
It’s pronounced New ‘Orlians’ ⚜️
I wanna eat there but sadly i dont live in new orleans huhuhuhu
Who is remembering bubble from frorest gump after seeing so much of shrimp ?
"Orleens"
"Occupied" They were a part of France
hehe dooky
Late
So we gonna ignore the fact her name is dooky
Muteteli Harvey Her name isn’t Dooky it was a nickname given to her husband
She isn't Dooky 🤦♂️
No her name is Leah Chase
Pay attention and stop being disrespectful
Very similar to Dominicans
Well are there African decent in the Dominicans area if so then yes also we have a dance that is similar also called zydeco
When I was searching for dooky videos this wasn't what I was expecting. *Rezips pants*
Um actually it's pronounced New Orleans not New Orleans
You spelt it the same.. shouldn't it be pronounced as New Oarleens?
@@keithfreitas2983 that was the joke
What about Acadian influences from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick?
Your referring to the cajuns. We intermixed with them but the cultures have always been distinct.
Thier influences are minimal at best most influences are African and native American not Nova Scotia that's just propaganda, there are no dishes from there literally.
@danny boyNS371 New Orleans is located in southeast Louisiana. Most Cajuns live in southwest Louisiana. New Orleans is actually mostly Creoles, as is the rest of southeast Louisiana.
Some minds are like soup in a poor restaurant better left unstirred

Great food, unfortunate name!
What's wrong with the name?
@@javierlandaverde4108 Dooky? Really?
@@Passionforfoodrecipes Dooky is the middle name of the first generation of the Chase family and it's been a family history of having Dooky as the middle name. It might sound weird but it can be typical name in the midwest, southwest areas.
@@javierlandaverde4108 Totally get that,. My sister married a man with the last name Roach, which is fine. But that's another name I wouldn't want on the sign of a restaurant I was thinking about walking into ;-)

What do you guys even mean by ‘diversity’?
BigPooprr What do you mean by “what do you guys even mean by diversity”
@@MiniM69 Dookey "Chase has always celebrated diversity. In fact it's New Orleans's only African American establishment featured in the Motorist Yearbook that's still in operation today." Can you explain what that first sentence had to do with anything? I can't
Damn... other countries and places be having good food while america has fried oxygen
Are you stupid? Not everything was fried. It's always some ignorant person commenting negatively. If you don't like African American food or culture then move on no need to spread hate and ignorance.
Host she is bad
I know they say this is a historic restaurant, but I'm not eating any place called Dooky Chase...sorry New Orleans✌
Shiirene sims You won’t be missed.
That is a bizarre mind you got... Because of the name, not the food
@@Sweet_Karma I know, but if the name of a restaurant is reminiscent of feces, i.e. "DOOKY" then NO I won't be able to eat the food, no matter how good it looks and smells. Though it may seem a bit childish, it's not unreasonable. I wouldn't eat at a place called Snot or any other place that name has a negative connotation. I'm already a picky eater as it is. 😂
Did she just say the N word at 1:28???
What...Negro? Folks still say that word here lol.
Dooky Chase sounds like a really bad pornstar name hahaha!
Growing up that's name of the restaurant and it's not funny you are being rude and disrespectful
I thought the same thing bro. Dont listen to these babies
Or, or maybe it was based of a fairytale. Who would have thought, not like they have the same name or anything
They call it dooky chase and all I read was dooky and saw the lady forming balls out of some kind of brownish material. I almost threw up
Dooky Chase sounds like a really bad pornstar name hahaha!
Mike Cox so does MIKE COX 😂
She needs to be embarrassed doing any camera work. With her nails lookn like that💅🏾, wouldn’t hurt to tighten up them braids either.
