Your explanation make sense. I do want to add that as you get to your power phase the speed increased because the chainring is much bigger. As an example on a 50T the chainring is actually a 52T at the power phase and therefore the ratio at that instance is a bit higher. Also, since the ratio is intermittent, the rider feels as if it is easier on the knee because the power transfer is not constant. This is helpful especially on hill climb when the lactic build up don’t get a chance to accumulate in the muscle hence it delays the fatiguing of the muscle. This is just my observation and not scientifically tested or proven. Absolute Black is the brand that I have in all my bikes and I highly recommend it.

Just watched your frame bag making video, that's one cool bag. It's a shame you're not closer, I need a frame bag maker, although my wife may be having a go. I'll have a look through your other video's later tonight.

The way i see it , the crank position where you can apply the most power ,it lessens the torque
And where your cranks are the weskest it maximises the torque

Thanks for the explanation it makes sense. I have a road bike with an oval chainring. I am about to change the chain. My question is: Does the chain have more links than one with a round chain ring? Secondly the smaller front chainring, is that also oval or is it round? I cannot tell. Thanks for any response.

Hi, The chain is exactly the same length as you still have the same number of teeth. as for the chainring, there is only 1. I hope that helps Graham

Marketing. Those who fit them love them. I guess if it was fitted as standard, everyone would just think it's normal. Maybe the big boys think it might stop customers from buying their bikes? Chicken and egg sinario
