So basically IU is one of the most respected idols and songwriters in Korea. She’s dealt with a lot of backlash and rumors about her which this song alludes to and she is basically telling everyone to back off and respect her boundaries or else they’ll be crossing a serious line. She is one of the most powerful vocalists in kpop (see the good day mv if you don’t believe me) and she has a very unique style that no one else really does. She wrote her own music and helps with production vocal arrangement mv design and so on. She’s also hilarious and is considered to be one of the most beautiful idols because she fits Korean beauty standards to a T and she’s also just beautiful overall inside and out. You should definitely check out more of her stuff she has an amazing discography and stage presence.
She’s also an actress. She moved away from home at a young age and made her debut at 15 and is now in her 10th year in the music industry with 3 out of her 4 albums being #1 best sellers.
To add to this, she is also an artist that once used her platform as a way to promote aspiring musicians during Melon awards in 2017 when she sang "dear name." She also gave a beautiful speech during her Grand Prize end of the year award in early 2018 to help accept that even as an idol, it's okay to still be human and not to be too inclined to "suck it up" when it feels like schedule >> self. I think she is a very classy woman who does show that she cares for others in her own way on one side but also an unapologetically quirky yet adorable person who truly loves herself on another side.

Leilani Rojas I completely agree with everything although maybe I wouldn't define her as a powerful vocalist, since even though "good day" was her break through, it wasn't really good for her voice. That said, she is defnitely one of the best solo artists! And her soft voice is definitely the best!
Also she does a lot of charity work and is the biggest female soloist today and probably soloist in general in kpop
IU is a legend first. And Kook's crush later. People need to get that.

IU is one of Korea’s greatest soloist and is a digital monster every song she releases eats up the charts. She’s also amazingly talented in producing and writing her own lyrics. She is Korea’s top and biggest celebrity alongside Gdragon.

IU is phenomenal. But I really want everyone to recognize her as a great soloist and songwriter. I feel bad sometimes when people just claim they’re a big fan of IU just because of Jungkook having a crush on her, most of them barely listen to her songs.
I wish that if they hear the name IU, they would think her as a great artist rather than “ohh she’s Jungkook’s crush right?”

I actually learned about BTS when I kept seeing Jungkook crushing on her at the award shows. I was an IU fan first and the crush piqued my interest. Now I love them both for their individual talents. It doesn't matter how people get introduced, if they have a lot to offer, they will fall in love with them once they learn more.

@@k_rod90 you need to understand "idol" is not considerd an "artist"... to be an idol you are seen as a puppet, and is actually looked down upon as not a valid artist. Obviously we as fans know thats not true, but thats how they are seen. an artist is considered those that play instruments and sing and write songs.. you know the traditional musician... and Idol is someone who just gets handed lyrics in a sheet of paper, learns the words.
BTS is the first group to have this big of its own influence on their own music but still be considered Idols.... I know other groups have had hands in their music before but not to that extent.
If that means that BTS is being crammed into a box, or that the definition of the word is expanding to the international meaning.... idk

@@k_rod90 Well... She is an artist who expresses herself through her work and she write and produce her own music (i would say that this is one of the main reasons). She's known for her soft ballads and strong vocals but also for her contemporary R & B, soul and indie music style, If you listen to her music you will realize that she can conquer any genre. Nowadays the masses only wants happy songs but IU always do the music she wants (and still ger #1 on charts). As a solo act is hard to maintain a career, groups can gather fans from each member and earn popularity, but if people don't like a solo singer, it's game over. But IU has maintained a career for 10 years now, only with her vocal ability. + she has the ability to match with any duet partner. IU is an artist that all singers look up to. IU's fandom in Korea is very big and the regular folk who aren't part of any fandom a.k.a. muggles all look forward to IU's new music. Her potential in Korea is limitless, she's considered a legend at 26 years.

In terms of popularity, if you think of how popular Beyonce is in the US and how (almost) everyone goes crazy over here, calling her Queen etc... IU is at that level times 10 in Korea. She just celebrated her 10 year anniversary since debut and is literally an angel. She is so humble and grateful for everything she's earned over the years. She gives back to fans with small but meaningful gestures. She knows at airports fans will be waiting to see her or get pictures as she walks by, so she buys candies and things at airport shops to give to fans as she sees them. One fan she gifted a $2500 mic to, because she shared the same dream IU once had and wanted to help her succeed. Another fan she sung at the wedding because she didn't have much money to spend on her dream wedding as she paid for her siblings college and things. During her performance at the 2017 Melon Music Awards she invited others from the industry on stage to sing her song "Dear Name" with her, people who had just debuted as a singer, some who have been in the industry awhile as backup singers but may not be well known, and even street performers. All so that they could have their name be heard, as they share the same dream she once had herself. She donates to charities, recently for her 10 year anniversary she donated to a charity to help underprivleged children in her and her fans names. She came from a very poor background and had to live with her grandmother at one point as a child because her parents couldn't afford a big enough place for all of them to live together. She's someone who has never forgotten where she's come from, and was turned away by just about every agency she auditioned for, including being scammed by one, where she lost money her grandmother had given to her. This song is basically to the "tabloid" newspapers and online haters, basically tellin them to step off

There's a ton to be said about IU as an artist and what this song is addressing, especially after the recent suicide of her close friend Sulli due to internet bullying. You'll definitely find her backstory interesting as well. She also stars in an incredible 16 episode long korean drama called "My Mister". If you like IU as a singer, you'll definitely love her as an actor as well.

Bruh, IU is a queen titled "the nation's little sister" in Korea. She's been an idol since she was like...16? Check out her stuff because her vocals are amazing and her style has matured quite a bit. Her vocals will make you melt. She's also an actress.

Jungkook was a growing young man listening to IU. He stated that her album was the first he bought with his own money. Over time, he's developed a little crush on her.
